The LTC2000 is a family of 16-/14-/11-bit 2.5Gsps current steering DACs with exceptional spectral purity.The single (1.25Gsps mode) or dual (2.5Gsps mode) port source synchronous LVDS interface supports data rates of up to 1.25Gbps using a 625MHz DDR data clock, which can be either in quadrature or in phase with the data. Demonstration circuit DC2448A-D features a PolyPhase® design using the LTM4636-1EY, a 40A high efficiency, switch mode step-down power µModule® regulator with overvoltage and overtemperature protection features. The input voltage range is from 9V to 15V. The output voltage range is 0.6V to 3.3V. The DC2448A-D can deliver a nominal 160A output current. DC2448A-D has on-boardhot swap circuit that can disconnect input supply and protect the LTM4636-1 and the load under overvoltage and overtemperature conditions. As explained in the data sheet, output current derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT and thermal conditions. The board operates in continuous conduction mode in heavy load conditions. For high efficiency at low load currents, the MODE_PLLIN jumper selects pulse-skipping mode for noise sensitive applications or Burst Mode® operation in less noise sensitive applications. The MODE_PLLIN pin also allows the LTM4636-1 to synchronize to an external clock signal. DC2448A-D has the option of choosing both internal and external compensation circuits for LTM4636-1. The LTM4636-1 data sheet must be read in conjunction with this demo manual prior to working on or modifying demo circuit DC2448A-D.

Demo board DC2783A features the LT3040, a 200mA high performance, robust voltage reference/DAC buffer. LT3040 has ultralow output noise, ultrahigh power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and low dropout voltage for powering noise sensitive, high accuracy systems. DC2783A has two inputs: V+ and VIN. V+ supplies power to the buffer, operating over a range from 2V to 20V. VIN is the regulation set-point for the output with a range from 0V to 15V. Current limit is programmable by connecting a resistor, R3, from ILIM to GND. The ILIM can also serve as a current monitor pin with a range from 0V to 300mV. LT3040 has fast start capability. Connecting FS pin across an input low pass filter resistor, R2, fast starts the LT3040. Fast start circuitry is typically triggered active if VFS − VIN ≥ 100mV and stays active until VFS – VIN ≤ 7mV. If fast start functionality is not needed, connect FS to VIN by setting R2 to 0Ω and applying the input voltage at FS. LT3040 has a fault flag to indicate faults at the output. Built-in protection includes reverse battery protection, reverse current protection, internal current limit with foldback and thermal limit with hysteresis. The LT3040 datasheet gives a complete description of the part, operation and applications information. The datasheet must be read in conjunction with this Demo Manual for demonstration circuit DC2783A. The LT3040 is assembled in a 12-lead MSOP and a 10-lead (3mm x 3mm) plastic DFN package with an exposed pad on the bottom-side of the IC. Proper board layout is essential for maximum thermal performance.

The ADM7172 is a CMOS, low dropout linear regulator (LDO) that operates from 2.3 V to 6.5 V and provides up to 2 A of output current. This high output current LDO is ideal for regulation of high performance analog and mixed-signal circuits operating from 6 V down to 1.2 V rails. Using an advanced proprietary architecture, the device provides high power supply rejection and low noise, and achieves excellent line and load transient response with just a small 4.7 ?F ceramic output capacitor. Load transient response is typically 1.5 ?s for a 1 mA to 1.5 A load step.The ADM7172 is available in 17 fixed output voltage options. The following voltages are available from stock: 1.3 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.0 V, 3.3 V, 4.2 V, and 5.0 V. Additional voltages that are available by special order are: 1.5 V, 1.85 V, 2.0 V, 2.2 V, 2.7 V, 2.75 V, 2.8 V, 2.85 V, 3.8 V, and 4.6 V. An adjustable version is also available that allows output voltages that range from 1.2 V to VIN ? The typical start-up time with a 1 nF soft start capacitor is 1.0 ms.The ADM7172 regulator output noise is 5 ?V rms, independent of the output voltage. The AD7961 is a 16-bit, 5 MSPS charge redistribution successive approximation (SAR), analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The SAR architecture allows unmatched performance both in noiseand in linearity. The AD7961 contains a low power, high speed, 16-bit sampling ADC, an internal conversion clock and an internal reference buffer. On the CNV edge, the AD7961samples the voltage difference between the IN+ and IN? pins. The voltages on these pins swing in opposite phase between 0 V and 4.096 V/5 V. The reference voltage is applied to the partexternally.
