The ADM1172 is a hot swap controller that safely enables a printed circuit board to be removed and inserted to a live backplane. This is achieved using an external N-channel power MOSFET with a current control loop that monitors the load current through a sense resistor. An internal charge pump is used to enhance the gate of the N-channel FET. When an overcurrent condition is detected, the gate voltage of the FET is reduced to limit the current flowing through the sense resistor. During an overcurrent condition, the TIMER pin capacitor determines the amount of time the FET remains at a current limiting mode of operation until it is shut down. The ON (ON-CLR) pin is the enable input for the device and can be used to monitor the input supply voltage. The ADM1172 operates with a supply voltage ranging from 2.7 V to 16.5 V.The ADM1172 also features a power-fail comparator. The voltage on the PFI pin is compared with an internal 0.6 V reference, and the output of this comparator is presented on the PFO pin. This device is available in two options: the ADM1172-1 with automatic retry for overcurrent fault and the ADM1172-2 with latch-off for an overcurrent fault. Toggling the ON (ON-CLR) pin resets a latched fault. The ADM1172 is packaged in an 8-lead TSOT.Applications Hot swap board insertion: line cards, raid systems Industrial high-side switches/circuit breakers Electronic circuit breakers

The ADM1176 is an integrated hot swap controller that offers digital current and voltage monitoring via an on-chip, 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), communicated through an I2C interface. An internal current sense amplifier senses voltage across the sense resistor in the power path via the VCC pin and the SENSE pin.The ADM1176 limits the current through this resistor by control-ling the gate voltage of an external N-channel FET in the power path, via the GATE pin. The sense voltage (and, therefore, the inrush current) is kept below a preset maximum. The ADM1176 protects the external FET by limiting the time that it spends with maximum current running through it. This current limit period is set by the choice of capacitor attached to the TIMER pin. Additionally, the device provides protection from overcurrent events that may occur once the hot swap event is complete. In the case of a short-circuit event, the current in the sense resistor exceeds an overcurrent trip threshold, and the FET is switched off immediately by pulling down the GATE pin.A 12-bit ADC can measure the current seen in the sense resistor, as well as the supply voltage on the VCC pin. An industry-standard I2C interface allows a controller to read current and voltage data from the ADC. Measurements can be initiated by an I2C command. Alternatively, the ADC can run continuously, and the user can read the latest conversion data whenever it is required. Up to 16 unique I2C addresses can be created, depending on the way the A0 and A1 pins are connected. The ADM1176 is packaged in a 10-lead MSOP.Applications Power monitoring/power budgeting Central office equipment Telecommunication and data communication equipment PCs/servers

The ADuCM360 is a fully integrated, 3.9 kSPS, 24-bit data acquisition system that incorporates dual high performance, multichannel sigma-delta (?-?) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), a 32-bit ARM Cortex?-M3 processor, and Flash/EE memory on a single chip. The ADuCM360 is designed for direct interfacing to external precision sensors in both wired and battery-powered applications. The ADuCM361 contains all the features of the ADuCM360 except that only one 24-bit ?-? ADC (ADC1) is available. The ADuCM360/ADuCM361 contain an on-chip 32 kHz oscillator and an internal 16 MHz high frequency oscillator. The high frequency oscillator is routed through a programmable clock divider from which the operating frequency of the processor core clock is generated. The maximum core clock speed is 16 MHz; this speed is not limited by operating voltage or temperature. The microcontroller core is a low power ARM Cortex-M3 processor, a 32-bit RISC machine that offers up to 20 MIPS peak performance. The Cortex-M3 processor incorporates a flexible, 11-channel DMA controller that supports all wired communica-tion peripherals (SPI, UART, and I2C). Also integrated on chip are 128 kB of nonvolatile Flash/EE memory and 8 kB of SRAM.The analog subsystem consists of dual ADCs, each connected to a flexible input mux. Both ADCs can operate in fully differential and single-ended modes. Other on-chip ADC features include dual programmable excitation current sources, diagnostic current sources, and a bias voltage generator of AVDD_REG/2 (900 mV) to set the common-mode voltage of an input channel. A low-side internal ground switch is provided to allow power-down of an external circuit (for example, a bridge circuit) between conversions. The ADCs contain two parallel filters: a sinc3 or sinc4 filter in parallel with a sinc2 filter. The sinc3 or sinc4 filter is used for precision measurements. The sinc2 filter is used for fast measure-ments and for the detection of step changes in the input signal. The devices contain a low noise, low drift internal band gap ref-erence, but they can be configured to accept one or two external reference sources in ratiometric measurement configurations. An option to buffer the external reference inputs is provided on chip. A single-channel buffered voltage output DAC is also provided on chip. The ADuCM360/ADuCM361 integrate a range of on-chip peripherals, which can be configured under microcontroller software control as required in the application. The peripherals include UART, I2C, and dual SPI serial I/O communication controllers; a 19-pin GPIO port; two general-purpose timers; a wake-up timer; and a system watchdog timer. A 16-bit PWM controller with six output channels is also provided. The ADuCM360/ADuCM361 are specifically designed to operate in battery-powered applications where low power operation is critical. The microcontroller core can be configured in a normal operating mode that consumes 290 ?A/MHz (including flash/ SRAM IDD). An overall system current consumption of 1 mA can be achieved with both ADCs on (input buffers off), PGA gain of 4, one SPI port on, and all timers on.The ADuCM360/ADuCM361 can be configured in a number of low power operating modes under direct program control, including a hibernate mode (internal wake-up timer active) that consumes only 4 ?A. In hibernate mode, peripherals such as external interrupts or the internal wake-up timer can wake up the device. This mode allows the part to operate with ultralow power and still respond to asynchronous external or periodic events.APPLICATIONS Industrial automation and process control Intelligent precision sensing systems 4 mA to 20 mA loop-powered smart sensor systems Medical devices, patient monitoring

?The ADUM1441 is a micropower, 4-channel digital isolator which has default high output and 3/1 channel directionality based on the Analog Devices, Inc., iCoupler? technology. (Dual-channel products available). Combining high speed, complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) and monolithic air core transformer technologies, these isolation components provide outstanding performance characteristics superior to the alternatives, such as optocoupler devices, while requiring the lowest power of any available isolation product. The ENX signals can be used to disable the internal refresh, which lowers the total quiescent current to less than 1 ?A.The ADuM1440/ADuM1441/ADuM1442/ADuM1445/ADuM1446/ADuM1447 family of quad 2.5 kV digital isolation devices are packaged in a small 16-lead QSOP and 20-lead SSOP. While most 4-channel isolators come in 16-lead wide SOIC packages, the ADuM1440/ADuM1441/ ADuM1442/ADuM1445/ADuM1446/ADuM1447 frees almost 70% of board space and yet can still withstand high isolation voltages and meet regulatory requirements, such as UL and CSA standards (pending). In addition to the space savings, the ADuM1440/ADuM1441/ADuM1442/ADuM1445/ADuM1446/ADuM1447 operates with supplies as low as 2.25 V.Despite the low power consumption, all models of the ADuM1440/ADuM1441/ADuM1442/ADuM1445/ADuM1446/ADuM1447 provide low, pulse width distortion <8 ns. In addition, every model has an input glitch filter to protect against extraneous noise disturbances.Applications General-purpose, low power multichannel isolation 1 MHz, low power peripheral interface (SPI) 4 mA to 20 mA loop process controls

Analog Devices Inc.
The ADuM4177 is an advanced isolated gate driver that provides 5 kVrms isolation employing Analog Devices, Inc. iCouper? technology. The ADuM4177 provides 8.3 mm creepage in a 28-pin wide body SOIC package. The devices are suitable for applications that require insulation against working voltages of 1060 V rms and 1500 V dc for the lifetime of the device. Combining high speed CMOS and monolithic transformer technology, these isolated gate drivers provide outstanding performance characteristics suitable for driving the demanding needs of high performance Silicon Carbide (SiC) switches. SPI communication allows for user programmable operating modes and fault read back. The ADuM4177 operates with an input voltage range from 4.4 to 7 V. The output voltages can operate with bipolar gate drive of 12 to 24 V positive and -5.5 to -3.25 V for the negative rail. Multiple programmable undervoltage lockout (UVLO) levels can be obtained through SPI communication with the gate driver. In comparison to gate drivers employing high voltage level translation methodologies, the ADuM4177 offers the benefit of true, galvanic isolation between the input and the output. The ADuM4177 includes many advanced protection features such as the drain monitoring desaturation detection, an active short circuit (ASC) operation, external temperature sensing, and both over voltage protection (OVP) and undervoltage protection (UVP).Adjustable slew rate control is available to allow for faster edge transitions and higher efficiency when the system operating point can accommodate it. An external miller clamp allows for strong pull-down to prevent unintended Miller injection induced turn on. The ADuM4177 can operate in a wide range of junction temperatures, from -40 to 150?C.As a result, the ADuM4177 provides reliable control over the switching characteristics of SiC switch configurations over a wide range of switching voltages.APPLICATIONSSwitching power suppliesSiC gate driversIndustrial invertersPower Factor Correctors
