LT8333 | Low IQ Boost/SEPIC Inverting Converter with 3A, 40V Switch

Evaluation circuit EVAL-LT8333-BZ features the LT8333 in a Boost configuration. It operates with a switching frequency of 2MHz and is designed to convert a 4.5V to 20V source to 24V output. The converter can output up to 2A depending on the input voltage (see Figure 3 in the demo manual, Maximum Output Current vs VIN curve).
This evaluation circuit features Spread-Spectrum Frequency Modulation (SSFM) and EMI filters to provide optimum EMI performance. This PCB layout is optimized for good EMI performance and small solution size. The evaluation board contains a selectable jumper, JP1, to aid in the selection of the desired SYNC pin mode of operation. At light load, either pulse-skipping (PULSE SKIP) or low-ripple Burst Mode® operation (BURST) can be selected to improve the efficiency.
The LT8333 boost/SEPIC/inverting converter IC operates over an input range of 2.8V to 40V, suitable for automotive, telecom, and industrial applications. The converter provides adjustable and synchronizable operation from 300kHz to 2MHz with SSFM option. The LT8333 packs other popular features such as soft-start, bias pin, input undervoltage lockout. The IC can exhibit a low quiescent current down to 9μA in BURST mode and 1μA in shutdown, which makes it ideal for battery-operated systems. The LT8333 is assembled in a thermally enhanced 10-lead 3mm × 3mm DFN package.

LT8711 Micropower Synchronous Sepic Converter

Demonstration circuit 2234A is a synchronous sepic converter featuring the LT8711 multitopology switching controller. The LT8711 is a current mode PWM DC/DC controller with a dual input LDO to optimize gate driver efficiency. Ultralow 15μA quiescent current in low noise Burst Mode® operation achieves high efficiency at very light loads and helps extend the run-time in battery powered applications when in standby mode. The LT8711 switching frequency can be programmed either via oscillator resistor or external clock over a 100kHz to 750kHz range.

Demonstration circuit 2469A features the LT8603 with triple monolithic buck regulators and the boost channel as SEPIC. The demo circuit is designed for 8V, 5V, 3.3V, and 1.8V outputs from a nominal 12V input. The 4th channel is set as a SEPIC converter and its output is regulated at 8V over a wide input range. The two high voltage buck regulators are powered from VOUT4. VOUT1 is regulated at 5V with 1.5A maximum output load current, and VOUT2 is at 3.3V with 2.5A maximum output load current. The low voltage buck is powered from VOUT2 (3.3V), and the output VOUT3 is regulated at 1.8V with 1.8A maximum load current. Thanks to the SEPIC converter, all four outputs can ride through a cold crank in automotive applications while providing regulated output voltages.

Demonstration circuit 2599A features the LT8361 in a
SEPIC configuration. It operates with a switching frequency
of 400kHz and is designed to convert a 4.5V to
48V source to 24V, with up to 600mA output current
(depending on input voltage).
The LT8361 can operate with inputs as high as 60V. However,
in this demo circuit, the input is limited by the voltage
rating of the input capacitors.
The demo board contains a selectable jumper, JP1, to aid
in the selection of the desired Sync pin mode of operation.
The default setting is Burst Mode® operation.
This layout is optimized for good EMI performance and
small solution size. Input and output filters and an optimized
power switching loop, comprised of C20 and C21
are necessary to pass CISPR 25 Class 5 emissions, and
are added by default. These components can be excluded
in applications not requiring noise immunity.
