The Maxim ICL7135 is a high precision monolithic41/2 digit A/D converter. Dual slope conversion reliabilityis combined with ±1 in 20,000 count accuracy anda 2.0000V full scale capability. It features high impedancedifferential inputs, nearly ideal differential linearity,true ratiometric operation, auto zero and auto-polarity.The multiplexed BCD outputs and digit drivers provideeasy interface to external display drivers like the MaximICM7211A. The only other external components neededto make precision DVM/DPMs are a reference and aclock. For more complex systems the BCD outputs areenhanced by Active-Low STROBE, OVERRANGE, UNDERRANGE,RUN/Active-Low HOLD and BUSY lines providing easy interface tomicroprocessors and UARTs. The ICL7665 warns microprocessors (µPs) of overvoltage and undervoltage conditions. It draws a typical operating current of only 3µA. The trip points and hysteresis of the two voltage detectors are individually programmed via external resistors to any voltage greater than 1.3V. The ICL7665 will operate from any supply voltage in the 1.6V to 16V range, while monitoring voltages from 1.3V to several hundred volts. The Maxim ICL7665A is an improved version with a 2%-accurate VSET1 threshold and guaranteed performance over temperature.The 3µA quiescent current of the ICL7665 makes it ideal for voltage monitoring in battery-powered systems.
