MAX1758EVKIT+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX1758 is a switch-mode lithium-ion (Li+) battery charger that charges one-to-four cells. It provides a regulated charging current accurate to ±10% and a regulated voltage with only a ±0.8% total voltage error at the battery terminals. The internal high-side switch delivers a programmable current of up to 1.5A to charge the battery. The built-in safety timer automatically terminates charging once the adjustable time limit has been reached. The MAX1758 regulates the voltage set point and charging current using two loops that work together to transition smoothly between voltage and current regulation. An additional control loop monitors the total current drawn from the input source (charging + system), and automatically reduces battery-charging current, preventing overload of the input supply and allowing the use of a low-cost wall adapter. The per-cell battery regulation voltage is set between 4.0V and 4.4V using standard 1% resistors. The number of cells is set from 1-to-4 by pin strapping. Battery temperature is monitored by an external thermistor to prevent charging outside the acceptable temperature range. The MAX1758 is available in a space-saving 28-pin SSOP package. Use the MAX1758EVKIT to help reduce design time. For a stand-alone charger with a 14V switch, refer to the MAX1757 data sheet. For a charger controller capable of up to 4A charging current, refer to the MAX1737 data sheet.ApplicationsDesktop Cradle ChargersHandheld Instruments (PDAs, Palmtops)Li+ Battery PacksNotebook Computers

MAX6495EVKIT+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX6495–MAX6499 is a family of small, low-current, overvoltage-protection circuits for high-voltage transient systems such as those found in automotive and industrial applications. These devices monitor the input voltage and control an external nMOSFET switch to isolate the load at the output during an input overvoltage condition. The MAX6495–MAX6499 operateover a wide supply voltage range from +5.5V to +72V.The gate of the nMOSFET is driven high while the monitored input is below the user-adjustable overvoltage threshold. An integrated charge-pump circuit provides a 10V gate-to-source voltage to fully enhance the nMOSFET. When the input voltage exceeds the user-adjusted overvoltage threshold, the gate of the MOSFET is quickly pulled low, disconnecting the load from the input. In some applications, disconnecting the output from the load is not desirable. In these cases, the protection circuit can be configured to act as a voltage limiter where the GATE output sawtooths to limit the voltage to the load (MAX6495/MAX6496/MAX6499).The MAX6496 supports lower input voltages and reduces power loss by replacing the external reverse battery diode with an external series pMOSFET. The MAX6496 generates the proper bias voltage to ensure that the pMOSFET is on during normal operations. The gate-to-source voltage is clamped during load-dump conditions, and the p-channel MOSFET is off during reverse-battery conditions. The MAX6497/MAX6498 feature an open-drain, undedicated comparator that notifies the system if the output falls below the programmed threshold. The MAX6497keeps the MOSFET switch latched off until either the input power or the active-low SHDN pin is cycled. The MAX6498 will autoretry when VOVSET falls below 130mV.These devices are available in small, thermally enhanced, 6-pin and 8-pin TDFN packages and are fully specified from -40°C to +125°C.ApplicationsAutomotiveFireWire®IndustrialNotebook ComputersTelecom/Servers/Networking

MAX2066EVKIT#

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX2066 high-linearity digital variable-gain amplifier (VGA) is a monolithic SiGe BiCMOS attenuator and amplifier designed to interface with 50Ω systems operating in the 50MHz to 1000MHz frequency range (See the Typical Application Circuit in the full data sheet). The digital attenuator is controlled as a slave peripheral using either the SPI™-compatible interface or a parallel bus with 31dB total adjustment range in 1dB steps. An added feature allows 'rapid-fire' gain selection between each of four steps, preprogrammed by the user through the SPI-compatible interface. The 2-pin control allows the user to quickly access any one of four customized attenuation states without reprogramming the SPI bus.Because each stage has its own RF input and RF output, this component can be configured to either optimize NF (amplifier configured first), or OIP3 (amplifier last). The device's performance features include 22dB amplifier gain (amplifier only), 5.2dB NF at maximum gain (includes attenuator insertion loss), and a high OIP3 level of +42.4dBm. Each of these features makes the MAX2066 an ideal VGA for numerous receiver and transmitter applications. In addition, the MAX2066 operates from a single +5V supply with full performance, or a single +3.3V supply with slightly reduced performance, and has an adjustable bias to trade current consumption for linearity performance. This device is available in a compact 40-pin thin QFN package (6mm x 6mm) with an exposed pad. Electrical performance is guaranteed over the extended temperature range (TC = -40°C to +85°C).ApplicationsCable Modem Termination Systems (CMTS)Cellular Band WCDMA and cdma2000® Base StationsFixed Broadband Wireless AccessGSM 850/GSM 900 EDGE Base StationsIF and RF Gain StagesMilitary SystemsRFID Handheld and Portal ReadersVideo-on-Demand (VOD) and DOCSIS®-Compliant EDGE QAM ModulationWiMAX and LTE Base Stations and Customer Premise EquipmentWireless Local Loop

Each attenuator includes a control circuit that provides 22dB of attenuation range with a linear control slope of 10dB/V.Both attenuators share a common analog control and can be cascaded together to yield 44dB of total dynamic range, with a combined linear control slope of 20dB/V.The IC is a monolithic device designed on one of Maxim's proprietary SiGe BiCMOS processes. The device operates from a single +5.0V supply and is available in a compact, 36-pin thin QFN package (6mm x 6mm x 0.8mm) with an exposed pad.
