The MAX1758 is a switch-mode lithium-ion (Li+) battery charger that charges one-to-four cells. It provides a regulated charging current accurate to ±10% and a regulated voltage with only a ±0.8% total voltage error at the battery terminals. The internal high-side switch delivers a programmable current of up to 1.5A to charge the battery. The built-in safety timer automatically terminates charging once the adjustable time limit has been reached.The MAX1758 regulates the voltage set point and charging current using two loops that work together to transition smoothly between voltage and current regulation. An additional control loop monitors the total current drawn from the input source (charging + system), and automatically reduces battery-charging current, preventing overload of the input supply and allowing the use of a low-cost wall adapter. The per-cell battery regulation voltage is set between 4.0V and 4.4V using standard 1% resistors. The number of cells is set from 1-to-4 by pin strapping. Battery temperature is monitored by an external thermistor to prevent charging outside the acceptable temperature range.The MAX1758 is available in a space-saving 28-pin SSOP package. The MAX148/MAX149 10-bit data-acquisition systems combine an 8-channel multiplexer, high-bandwidthtrack/hold, and serial interface with high conversion speed and low power consumption. They operate from a single +2.7V to +5.25V supply, and sample to 133ksps. Both devices’ analog inputs are software configurable for unipolar/bipolar and single-ended/differential operation.The 4-wire serial interface connects directly to SPI/QSPI™ and MICROWIRE™ devices without external logic. A serial-strobe output allows direct connection to TMS320-family digital signal processors. The MAX148/MAX149 use either the internal clock or an external serial-interface clock to perform successive-approximation analog-to-digital conversions.The MAX149 has an internal 2.5V reference, while the MAX148 requires an external reference. Both parts have a reference-buffer amplifier with a ±1.5% voltage-adjustment range.These devices provide a hard-wired active-low SHDN pin and a software-selectable power-down, and can be programmed to automatically shut down at the end of a conversion. Accessing the serial interface automatically powers up the MAX148/MAX149, and the quick turn-on time allows them to be shut down between all conversions. The MAX8643 high-efficiency switching regulator delivers up to 3A load current at output voltages from 0.6V to (0.9 × VIN).The IC operates from 2.35V to 3.6V, making it ideal for on-board point-of-load and postregulation applications. Total output error is less than ±1% over load, line, and temperature.The MAX8643 features fixed-frequency PWM mode operation with a switching frequency range of 500kHz to 2MHz set by an external resistor. High-frequencyoperation allows for an all-ceramic capacitor design. The high operating frequency also allows for small-size external components.The low-resistance on-chip nMOS switches ensure high efficiency at heavy loads while minimizing critical inductances, making the layout a much simpler task with respect to discrete solutions. Following a simple layout and footprint ensures first-pass success in new designs.The MAX8643 comes with a high-bandwidth (> 14MHz) voltage-error amplifier. The voltage-mode control architecture and the voltage-error amplifier permit a type III compensation scheme to be utilized to achieve maximum loop bandwidth, up to 20% of the switching frequency. High loop bandwidth provides fast transientresponse, resulting in less required output capacitance and allowing for all-ceramic capacitor designs.The MAX8643 provides two tri-state logic inputs to select one of nine preset output voltages. The preset output voltages allow customers to achieve ±1% output-voltage accuracy without using expensive 0.1% resistors. In addition, the output voltage can be set to any customer value by either using two external resistors at the feedback with 0.6V internal reference orapplying an external reference voltage to the REFIN input.
