The MAX44286 is a zero-drift, high-side current-sense amplifier family that offers precision, low supply current and is available in a tiny 4-bump ultra-thin WLP of 0.78mm x 0.78mm x 0.35mm footprint. This miniature size is of paramount for today’s applications in smartphones, mobile accessories, notebooks, portable medical, and all battery-operated portable devices where current monitoring with precision and space are critical. The MAX44286 has voltage output offered in four gain versions of 25V/V, 50V/V, 100V/V, and 200V/V. These four gain versions offer flexibility in the choice of the sense resistor and the very low input offset voltage helps in detecting small currents on the orders of low microamps. Low power capability also offers the possibility of minimizing power dissipation.The MAX44286 operates with a supply voltage range of 1.6V to 5.5V over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range and from 1.8V to 5.5V over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range. The MAX44298 is a low-side current, voltage, and power monitoring circuit that provides an analog output current proportional to the measured current, voltage, and the internally calculated instantaneous power.Instantaneous power is calculated internally by multiplying the load current and a fraction of the load voltage set by an external resistive divider. All three outputs are scaled to a full-scale current of either 100µA or 50µA. This full-scale current option is set with a simple pin-strap, ISET. An additional output current of either 100µA or 50µA is available at the reference (REF) output; this current can be used to create a reference voltage for the ADC that is being used to measure the power, voltage, and current signals.By providing the ADC with both the measured signals and the input reference voltage, the ADC can make a ratio- metric measurement, allowing improved accuracy. The use of currents, rather than voltage, to convey the mea- sured signals to the ADC eliminates any errors caused by voltage drops across the parasitic resistance of PCB, which can be significant for high-current systems. To allow full-system calibration, the CAL bump provides a way to calibrate gain and offset for the ADC.The MAX44298 measures load current by using a precision, auto-zeroed current-sense amplifier (CSA), which due to its ultra-low offset voltage allows precise measurement of full-scale voltages of 5mV, 10mV, and 20mV. The load voltage is measured via a user-selectable resistive network, dividing the input voltage down to a full scale of 1.00V.The wide supply voltage range of 3V to 5.5V allows the simple sharing of supplies with either the ADC or a micro-controller. The MAX44298 can be powered down and the outputs will then go high impedance. The AD8229 is an ultralow noise instrumentation amplifier designed for measuring small signals in the presence of large common-mode voltages and high temperatures.The AD8229 has been designed for high temperature operation. The process is dielectrically isolated to avoid leakage currents at high temperatures. The design architecture was chosen to compensate for the low VBE voltages at high temperatures. The AD8229 excels at measuring tiny signals. It delivers industry leading 1 nV/√Hz input noise performance. The high CMRR of the AD8229 prevents unwanted signals from corrupting the acquisition. The CMRR increases as the gain increases, offering high rejection when it is most needed. The AD8229 is one of the fastest instrumentation amplifiers available. Its current feedback architecture provides high bandwidth at high gain, for example, 1.2 MHz at G = 100. The design includes circuitry to improve settling time after large input voltage transients. The AD8229 was designed for excellent distortion performance, allowing use in demanding applications such as vibration analysis.Gain is set from 1 to 1000 with a single resistor. A reference pin allows the user to offset the output voltage. This feature can be useful when interfacing with analog-to-digital converters.

The LT6109 is a complete high side current sense device that incorporates a precision current sense amplifier, an integrated voltage reference and two comparators. Two versions of the LT6109 are available. The LT6109-1 has the comparators connected in opposing polarity and the LT6109-2 has the comparators connected in the same polarity. In addition, the current sense amplifier and comparator inputs and outputs are directly accessible. The amplifier gain and comparator trip points are configured by external resistors. The open-drain comparator outputs allows for easy interface to other system components.The overall propagation delay of the LT6109 is typically only 1.4μs, allowing for quick reaction to overcurrent and undercurrent conditions. The 1MHz bandwidth allows the LT6109 to be used for error detection in critical applications such as motor control. The high threshold accuracy of the comparators, combined with the ability to latch both comparators, ensures the LT6109 can capture high speed events.The LT6109 is fully specified for operation from –40°C to 125°C, making it suitable for industrial and automotive applications.
