The HMC702 is a SiGe BiCMOS fractional-N frequency synthesizer. The synthesizer includes a 8GHz 16-bit RF N-Divider, a 24-bit delta-sigma modulator, a very low noise digital phase frequency detector (PFD), and a precision controlled charge pump. In addition the synthesizer supports an external step tuned VCO.The fractional synthesizer features an advanced delta-sigma modulator design that allows ultra-fine frequency step sizes. The synthesizer features the ability to alter both the phase-frequency detector (PFD) gain and the cycle slipping characteristics of the PFD. This feature can reduce the time to arrive at the new frequency by 50% vs. conventional PFDs. Ultra low in-close phase noise also allows wider loop bandwidths for faster frequency hopping. The synthesizer contains a built-in linear sweeper function, which allows it to perform frequency chirps with a wide variety of sweep times, polarities and dwells, all with an external or automatic sweep trigger.A General Purpose Output (GPO) bus supports the use of multiple VCO s. In addition the synthesizer has a number of auxiliary clock generation modes that can be accessed via the GPO.Applications Base Stations for Mobile Radio (GSM, PCS, DCS, CDMA, WCDMA) Wireless LANs, WiMax Communications Test Equipment CATV Equipment FMCW Sensors Automotive Radar Phased-Array Systems

EV-ADF41020EB1Z
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADF41020 frequency synthesizer can be used to implement local oscillators as high as 18 GHz in the up conversion and down conversion sections of wireless receivers and transmitters. It consists of a low noise, digital phase frequency detector (PFD), a precision charge pump, a programmable reference divider, and high frequency programmable feedback dividers (A, B, and P). A complete phase-locked loop (PLL) can be implemented if the synthesizer is used with an external loop filter and voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The synthesizer can be used to drive external microwave VCOs via an active loop filter. Its very high bandwidth means a frequency doubler stage can be eliminated, simplifying system architecture and reducing cost. The ADF41020 is software-compatible with the existing?ADF4106/ADF4107/ADF4108 family of devices from Analog Devices, Inc. Their pinouts match very closely with the exception of the ADF41020?s single-ended RF input pin, meaning only a minor layout change is required when updating current designs.Applications Microwave point-to-point/multipoint radios Wireless infrastructure VSAT radios Test equipment Instrumentation

The ADF4113HV is an integer-N frequency synthesizer with a high voltage charge pump (15 V). The synthesizer is designed for use with voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) that have high tuning voltages (up to 15 V). Active loop filters are often used to achieve high tuning voltages, but the ADF4113HV charge pump can drive a high voltage VCO directly with a passive-loop filter. The ADF4113HV can be used to implement local oscillators in the upconversion and downconversion sections of wireless receivers and transmitters. It consists of a low noise digital phase frequency detector (PFD), a precision high voltage charge pump, a programmable reference divider, programmable A and B counters, and a dual-modulus prescaler (P/P + 1).A simple 3-wire interface controls all of the on-chip registers. The devices operate with a power supply ranging from 2.7 V to 5.5 V and can be powered down when not in use.
