Analog Devices Inc.
The AD7680 is a 16-bit, fast, low power, successive approximation ADC. The part operates from a single 2.5 V to 5.5 V power supply and features throughput rates up to 100 kSPS. The part contains a low noise, wide bandwidth track-and-hold amplifier that can handle input frequencies in excess of 7 MHz.The conversion process and data acquisition are controlled using CS and the serial clock, allowing the devices to interface with microprocessors or DSPs. The input signal is sampled on the falling edge of CS and the conversion is also initiated at this point. There are no pipelined delays associated with the part. The AD7860 uses advanced design techniques to achieve very low-power dissipation at fast throughput rates. The reference for the part is taken internally from VDD. This allows the widest dynamic input range to the ADC. Thus the analog input range for the part is 0 to VDD. The conversion rate is determined by the SCLK frequency.PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS First 16-bit ADC in a SOT-23 package. High throughput with low power consumption. Flexible power/serial clock speed management. The conversion rate is determined by the serial clock, allowing the conversion time to be reduced through the serial clock speed increase. This allows the average power consumption to be reduced when a power-down mode is used while not converting. The part also features a shutdown mode to maximize power efficiency at lower throughput rates. Power consumption is 0.5 μA max when in shutdown. Reference derived from the power supply. No pipeline delays.APPLICATIONS Process control Battery-powered systems: Personal digital assistants Medical instruments Mobile communications Instrumentation and control systems Remote data acquisition systems High speed modems Optical sensors

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD7701 is a 16-bit ADC which uses a sigma delta conversion technique. The analog input is continually sampled by an analog modulator whose mean output duty cycle is proportional to the input signal. The modulator output is processed by an on-chip digital filter with a six-pole Gaussian response, which updates the output data register with 16-bit binary words at word rates up to 4kHz. The sampling rate, filter corner frequency and output word rate are set by a master clock input that may be supplied externally, or by a crystal-controlled on-chip clock oscillator. The inherent linearity of the ADC is excellent, and endpoint accuracy is ensured by self-calibration of zero and full scale which may be initiated at any time. The self-calibration scheme can also be extended to null system offset and gain errors in the input channel. The output data is accessed through a flexible serial port, which has an asynchronous mode compatible with UARTs and two synchronous modes suitable for interfacing to shift registers or the serial ports of industry-standard microcontrollers.CMOS construction insures low power dissipation, and a power down mode reduces the idle power consumption to only 10 µW.

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD7708 / AD7718 are complete analog front-ends for low frequency measurement applications. The AD7718 contains a 24-bit sigma delta ADC with PGA and can be configured as 4/5 fully-differential input channels or 8/10 pseudo-differential input channels. Two pins on the device are configurable as analog inputs or reference inputs. The AD7708 is a 16-bit version of the AD7718. Inputs signal ranges from 20mV to 2.56V can be directly converted using these ADCs. Signals can be converted directly from a transducer without the need for signal conditioning. The device operates from a 32 kHz crystal with an on-board PLL generating the required internal operating frequency. The output data rate from the part is software programmable. The peak-to-peak resolution from the part varies with the programmed gain and output data ratThe part operates from a single 3 V or 5 V supply. When operating from 3 V supplies, the power dissipation for the part is 3.84 mW typ. Both parts are pin-for-pin compatible allowing an upgradable path from 16 to 24 bits without the need for hardware modifications. The AD7708 / AD7718 are housed in 28-lead SOIC and TSSOP packagesAPPLICATIONS Industrial Process Control Instrumentation Pressure Transducers Portable Instrumentation Smart Transmitters
