The MAX9257A serializer pairs with the MAX9258A deserializer to form a complete digital video serial link. The MAX9257A/MAX9258A feature programmable parallel data width, parallel clock frequency range, spread spectrum, and preemphasis. An integrated control channel transfers data bidirectionally at power-up during video blanking over the same differential pair used for video data. This feature eliminates the need for external CAN or LIN interface for diagnostics or programming. The clock is recovered from input serial data at MAX9258A, hence eliminating the need for an external reference clock. The MAX9257A serializes 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 bits with the addition of two encoding bits for AC-coupling. The MAX9258A deserializer links with the MAX9257A to deserialize a maximum of 20 (data + encoding) bits per pixel/parallel clock period for a maximum serial-data rate of 840Mbps. The word length can be adjusted to accommodate a higher pixel/parallel clock frequency. The pixel clock can vary from 5MHz to 70MHz, depending on the serial-word length. Enabling parity adds two parity bits to the serial word. The encoding bits reduce ISI and allow AC-coupling.The MAX9258A receives programming instructions from the electronic control unit (ECU) during the control channel and transmits to the MAX9257A over the serial video link. The instructions can program or update the MAX9257A, MAX9258A, or an external peripheral device, such as a camera. The MAX9257A communicates with the peripheral device with I²C or UART.The MAX9257A/MAX9258A operate from a +3.3V core supply and feature separate supplies for interfacing to +1.8V to +3.3V logic levels. These devices are available in 40-lead TQFN or 48-pin LQFP packages. These devices are specified over the -40°C to +105°C temperature range.ApplicationsAutomotive CamerasIn-Vehicle Entertainment SystemsIndustrial CamerasNavigation Systems Display

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX9273 compact serializer is designed to drive 50Ω coax or 100Ω shielded twisted-pair (STP) cable. The device pairs with the MAX9272 deserializer. The parallel input is programmable for single or double input. Double input allows higher pixel clock input frequency by registering two pixels of typical image-sensor video data before serializing. This doubles the maximum pixel clock frequency compared to single input. The device features an embedded control channel that operates at 9.6kbps to 1Mbps in UART and mixed UART/I²C modes, and up to 400kbps in I²C mode. Using the control channel, a microcontroller (µC) is capable of programming serializer, deserializer, and camera (or any peripheral) registers at any time, independent of video timing. There is one dedicated GPIO, four optional GPIOs, and a GPO output, allowing remote power-up of a camera module, camera frame synchronization, and other uses. Error-detection and correction coding are programmable. For driving longer cables, the serializer has programmable pre/deemphasis. Programmable spread spectrum is available on the serial output. The serial output meets ISO 10605 and IEC 61000-4-2 ESD standards. The core supply range is 1.7V to 1.9V and the I/O supply range is 1.7V to 3.6V. The device is available in a 40-pin (6mm × 6mm) TQFN-EP package with 0.5mm lead pitch and operates over the -40°C to +105°C temperature range.ApplicationsAutomotive Camera SystemsNavigation Displays

The MAX14821 transceiver is suitable for IO-Link® devices and 24V binary sensors/actuators. All specified IO-Link data rates are supported. In IO-Link applications, the transceiver acts as the physical layer interface to a microcontroller running the data-link layer protocol. Additional 24V digital inputs and outputs are provided. Two internal linear regulators generate common sensor and actuator power requirements: 5V and 3.3V.On-board C/Q and DO drivers are independently configurable for push-pull, high-side (PNP), or low-side (NPN) operation. The device detects the IO-Link C/Q wake-up condition and generates a wake-up signal on the active-low WU output. The C/Q and DI inputs have selectable current loads for use in actuators. An SPI™ interface allows configuration and monitoring of the device. Extensive alarm conditions are detected and communicated through the active-low IRQ output and the SPI interface. The device features reverse-polarity, short-circuit, and thermal protection. All power lines are monitored for undervoltage conditions. The C/Q and DO drivers are specified for sourcing/sinking up to 100mA.The device is available in a 2.5mm x 2.5mm, 25-pin WLP and a 4mm x 4mm, 24-pin TQFN package. Both are specified over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range.ApplicationsIndustrial Sensors and ActuatorsIO-Link ActuatorsIO-Link Sensors

This document explains how the Munich (USB2PMB1#) adapter board receives commands from a laptop through the USB to create an SPI interface. Hardware design files as well as results on interfacing USB2PMB1# with MAX11300PMB1, Santa Fe (MAXREFDES5#), Campbell (MAXREFDES4#), Fresno (MAXREFDES11#), and Corona (MAXREFDES12#) are provided.Portability has become another word for convenience. These days, almost all of us carry laptops, and this advantage can be used to showcase parts to the customers offering solutions that can cater to their needs. To have that convenience, we need to have a board that interfaces with our laptops to the signal chain electronics that are present on many of the industrial, medical, and consumer applications. This adapter board serves this purpose of being a bridge between your laptop and your SPI-enabled devices. The Maxim USB2PMB1# board requires custom software and can be ordered together as an evaluation system (EV system). The Munich design integrates a low-power, 1.2A, PWM step-down DC-DC converter (MAX1556); a dual, high-speed, USB-to-multipurpose UART/FIFO IC (FT2232HL); and a 4K MICROWIRE®-compatible serial EEPROM. This Munich adapter board is used to enable USB-to-SPI interface for any Pmod™-compatible plugin peripheral modules such as the Maxim Campbell, Santa Fe, Fresno, and Corona reference designs.Ordering information for EV systems is included in the EV kits’ corresponding data sheet. An EV system is an EV kit combined with an interface board such as a USB2PMB1# and custom software. Refer to the appropriate EV kit data sheet for quick start and detailed operating instructions. The USB2PMB1# has been tested on Windows® 7, Windows 8, and Windows XP®.ApplicationsIndustrial AutomationIndustrial SensorsMedicalPLCsProcess Control
