Digital Isolators Dual-Channel Isolators with Integrated DC-to-DC Converter (1/1 Channel Directionality)

The ADuM6210 / ADuM6211 / ADuM6212 represent dual-channel digital isolators featuring isoPower, an integrated, isolated dc-to-dc converter. Leveraging Analog Devices, Inc.'s iCoupler technology, the dc-to-dc converter delivers regulated, isolated power with an adjustable range between 3.135 V and 5.25 V. These isolators accommodate input supply voltages ranging from slightly below the required output to significantly higher values, as detailed in Table 2 for popular voltage combinations and their corresponding power levels.

In low-power, isolated designs, the ADuM6210 / ADuM6211 / ADuM6212 negate the necessity for a separate, isolated dc-to-dc converter. The iCoupler chip-scale transformer technology is utilized for both isolated logic signals and the magnetic components of the dc-to-dc converter. The outcome is a compact, all-encompassing isolation solution.

isoPower employs high-frequency switching elements to transfer power through its transformer. Careful attention must be given to printed circuit board (PCB) layout to meet emissions standards. Refer to the AN-0971 Application Note for recommended board layout practices.

The ADM4168E is a dual RS-422 transceiver suitable for high speed communication on point to point and multidrop transmission lines. The ADM4168E is designed for balanced transmission lines and complies with TIA/EIA-422-B. The differential driver outputs and receiver inputs feature electrostatic discharge (ESD) circuitry that provides protection up to ±15 kV human body model (HBM) and ±8 kV IEC 61000-4-2 (contact and air discharge). The ADM4168E operates from a single 5 V power supply. Excessive power dissipation caused by bus contention or output shorting is prevented by short-circuit protection circuitry. Short-circuit protection circuits limit the maximum output current to −150 mA during fault conditions. The receivers of the ADM4168E contain a fail-safe feature that results in a logic high output state if the inputs are unconnected (floating). The ADP5585 is a 10I/O port expander with built-in keypad matrix decoder, programmable logic, reset generator, and PWM generator. I/O expander ICs are used in portable devices (phones, remote controls, & cameras) and non-portable applications (healthcare, industrial & instrumentation). I/O expanders can be used to increase the number of I/Os available to a processor or to reduce the number of I/Os required through interface connectors for front panel designs.The ADP5585 handles all key scanning and decoding and can flag the main processor via an interrupt line that new key events have occurred. GPI changes and logic changes can also be tracked as events via the FIFO, eliminating the need to monitor different registers for event changes. The ADP5585 is equipped with a FIFO to store up to 16 events. The ADD5207 is a white LED driver for backlight applications based on high efficiency, current mode, step-up converter technology. It is designed with a 0.15 Ω, 1.5 A internal switch and a pin-adjustable operating frequency between 600 kHz and 1 MHz.The ADD5207 contains four regulated current sources for uniform LED brightness. Each current source can drive up to 25 mA and the LED-driving current is pin adjustable by an external resistor. The ADD5207 drives up to four parallel strings of multiple series-connected LEDs with a ±1.5% current matching between strings.The ADD5207 provides phase shift PWM brightness control methods. LED dimming control is achieved through the PWM input. The device includes an 8 kHz LED-dimming oscillator for driving each current source. The ADD5207 operates over an input voltage range of 6 V to 21 V, but the device can function with a voltage as low as 5.6 V.The ADD5207 also has multiple safety protection features to prevent damage during fault conditions. If any LED is open, the device automatically disables the faulty current source. The internal soft start circuit prevents a high inrush current during startup.
