The MAX8688 fully integrated digital power-supply controller and monitor IC works with any existing POL (point-of-load) power supply to provide complete digital programmability. By interfacing to the reference input, feedback node, and output enable, the MAX8688 takes control of the POL to provide functions such as perfect tracking, sequencing, margining, and dynamic adjustment of the output voltage.The MAX8688 offers an accurate 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) accompanied with two differential amplifiers for accurately monitoring both voltage and current. An integrated 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is also available to margin power supplies as well as dynamically adjust the output voltage with 0.2% accuracy over temperature using this closed-loop system. An internal temperature sensor provides an additional level of system monitoring.The user-programmable registers provide flexible and accurate control of time events such as a delay time and transition period, monitoring for overvoltage and undervoltage, overcurrent, reverse-current, overtemperature fault and warning handling. The closed-loop operation is also programmable to make sure the MAX8688 works with any existing POL to provide superior regulation accuracy and accurate margining.The MAX8688 operates using a PMBus™-compliant communication protocol. The device is programmed using this protocol or simply with the use of a free graphic-user interface (GUI) available from the Maxim website that significantly reduces development time. Once the configuration is complete, the results can be saved into an EEPROM or loaded onto the part through the PMBus at power-up. This allows remote configuration of any POL using the MAX8688, replacing expensive recalls or field service. Module current sharing is also supported, since accurate current measurement and fine resolution voltage control are available. The MAX8688 can be programmed with up to 127 distinct addresses to support large systems. The MAX11301 integrates a PIXI™, 12-bit, multichannel, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and a 12-bit, multichannel, buffered digital-to-analog converter (DAC) in a single integrated circuit. This device offers 20 mixed-signal high-voltage, bipolar ports, which are configurable as an ADC analog input, a DAC analog output, a general-purpose input (GPI), a general-purpose output (GPO), or an analog switch terminal. One internal and two external temperature sensors track junction and environmental temperature. Adjacent pairs of ports are configurable as a logic-level translator for open-drain devices or an analog switch.Custom designs are easily created using the MAX11301 configuration GUI software. The MAX11301 is best suited for applications that demand a mixture of analog and digital functions. Each port is individually configurable with up to four selectable voltage ranges within -10V to +10V.The MAX11301 allows for the averaging of 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, or 128 ADC samples from each ADC-configured port to improve noise performance. A DAC-configured output port can drive up to 25mA. The GPIO ports can be programmed to user-defined logic levels, and a GPI coupled with a GPO forms a logic-level translator.Internal and external temperature measurements monitor programmable conditions of minimum and maximum temperature limits, using the interrupt to notify the host if one or more conditions occur. The temperature measurement results are made available through the serial interface.The MAX11301 features an internal, low-noise 2.5V voltage reference and provides the option to use external voltage references with separate inputs for the DAC and ADC. The MAX11301 uses a 400kHz I²C-compatible serial interface, operating from a 5V analog supply and a 1.8V to 5.0V digital supply. The MAX12900 is an ultra-low-power, highly integrated 4-20mA sensor transmitter. The MAX12900 integrates ten building blocks in a small package: a wide input supply voltage LDO, two conditioner circuits for pulse-width modulated (PWM) inputs, two low-power, low-drift, general purpose operational amplifiers (op amp) one wide bandwidth, zero-offset drift operational amplifier; two diagnostic comparators, a power-up sequencer with power good output to allow for a smooth power-up, and a low-drift voltage reference.The MAX12900 converts PWM data from a microcontroller into current over a 4-20mA loop with two, three, or four wire configurations.The equivalent to an ultra-low-power, high-resolution, digital-to-analog converter is realized with the combination of two-PWM signals received from a microcontroller, the two conditioner circuits, and an active filter built with the integrated low-power op amp. The outputs of the two conditioner circuits provide a stable PWM amplitude over voltage supply and temperature variation. The wide bandwidth amplifier, in combination with a discrete transistor, converts a voltage input into a current output and allows HART and Foundation Fieldbus H1 signal modulation. The zero-offset operational amplifier and the low-drift voltage reference provide negligible error over wide temperature. The low-power operational amplifier and comparators provide building blocks for enhanced diagnostic features. Supply rail monitoring, output current readback, open circuit and failure detection are a few examples of diagnostic features. The STC provides highly efficient zero-current switching (ZCS) voltage conversion from a 60V–40V input bus to an intermediate bus voltage. The intermediate bus voltage is unregulated and is approximately a quarter of the input voltage.The 4:1 STC topology has 10 FETs that need to be driven, with only 3 of the FETs connected to ground. The MAX16972/MAX16972A provide high-ESD and short-circuit protection for the low-voltage internal USB data and USB power line in automotive radio, navigation, connectivity, and USB hub applications. The devices support both Hi-Speed USB (480Mbps) and full-speed USB (12Mbps) operation. In addition, the devices also include integrated circuitry to enable fast-charging for consumer devices adhering to either the Apple method or the Hi-Speed USB host-charger port-detection protocol and support USB On-The-Go (OTG). The short-circuit protection features include short-to-battery on the protected HVBUS, HVD+, and HVD- outputs, as well as short-to-HVBUS on the protected HVD+ and HVD- outputs. The devices are capable of a short-to-battery condition of up to +18V. Short-to-GND and overcurrent protection are also provided on the HVBUS output to protect the internal BUS power rail from overcurrent faults. Each device features high-ESD protection to ±15kV Air Gap method and ±8kV Contact method on all protected HVBUS, HVD+, and HVD- outputs. Each device features two low 4.0Ω on-resistance Hi-Speed USB switches, a current-limited low-voltage 31mΩ BUS switch, and provides an integrated high-voltage external power-switch controller. The BUS switch can start up into large capacitive noncompliant USB loads. The devices also feature an enable input, a fault output, integrated Apple iPhone®/iPad® fast-charging termination resistors, and an integrated host-charger port-detection circuit adhering to the USB 2.0 battery charging specification version 1.2. The devices are available in 16-pin QSOP and 16-pin (4mm × 4mm) TQFN packages and operate over the -40°C to +105°C temperature range.
