The MAX16972/MAX16972A provide high-ESD and short-circuit protection for the low-voltage internal USB data and USB power line in automotive radio, navigation, connectivity, and USB hub applications. The devices support both Hi-Speed USB (480Mbps) and full-speed USB (12Mbps) operation. In addition, the devices also include integrated circuitry to enable fast-charging for consumer devices adhering to either the Apple method or the Hi-Speed USB host-charger port-detection protocol and support USB On-The-Go (OTG). The short-circuit protection features include short-to-battery on the protected HVBUS, HVD+, and HVD- outputs, as well as short-to-HVBUS on the protected HVD+ and HVD- outputs. The devices are capable of a short-to-battery condition of up to +18V. Short-to-GND and overcurrent protection are also provided on the HVBUS output to protect the internal BUS power rail from overcurrent faults. Each device features high-ESD protection to ±15kV Air Gap method and ±8kV Contact method on all protected HVBUS, HVD+, and HVD- outputs. Each device features two low 4.0Ω on-resistance Hi-Speed USB switches, a current-limited low-voltage 31mΩ BUS switch, and provides an integrated high-voltage external power-switch controller. The BUS switch can start up into large capacitive noncompliant USB loads. The devices also feature an enable input, a fault output, integrated Apple iPhone®/iPad® fast-charging termination resistors, and an integrated host-charger port-detection circuit adhering to the USB 2.0 battery charging specification version 1.2. The devices are available in 16-pin QSOP and 16-pin (4mm × 4mm) TQFN packages and operate over the -40°C to +105°C temperature range. The MAX20047 is an automotive-grade, low-cost, small-footprint dual-port charger IC designed for automotive charging applications. It combines a fully synchronous 6A step-down buck converter with integrated high-side and low-side FETs capable of operating with input voltages from 3.5V to 36V and delivering 5.2V output voltage. The IC features integrated iPod®/iPhone®1.0A and iPad® 2.1A dedicated charging modes.The IC delivers up to 3A of charging current with 93% efficiency per port through integrated switches with programmable current limit and thermal foldback control. The buck converter switching frequency is programmable from 0.4MHz to 2.2MHz. Short-to-ground protection and overcurrent protection are also provided on the protected HVBUS outputs to protect the internal BUS power rail from an overcurrent fault. The DS28E38 is an ECDSA public key-based secure authenticator that incorporates Maxim’s patented ChipDNA™ PUF technology. ChipDNA technology involves a physically unclonable function (PUF) that enables the DS28E38 to deliver cost-effective protection against invasive physical attacks. Using the random variation of semiconductor device characteristics that naturally occur during wafer fabrication, the ChipDNA circuit generates a unique output value that is repeatable over time, temperature, and operating voltage. Attempts to probe or observe ChipDNA operation modifies the underlying circuit characteristics, preventing discovery of the unique value used by the chip cryptographic functions. The DS28E38 utilizes the ChipDNA output as key content to cryptographically secure all device stored data and optionally, under user control, as the private key for the ECDSA signing operation. With ChipDNA capability, the device provides a core set of cryptographic tools derived from integrated blocks including an asymmetric (ECC-P256) hardware engine, a FIPS/NIST-compliant true random number generator (TRNG), 2Kb of secured EEPROM, a decrement-only counter and a unique 64-bit ROM identification number (ROM ID).
