MAX34417ENE+T

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX34417 is a specialized current and voltage monitor used to determine power consumption of portable systems. The device has a very wide dynamic range (20,000:1) that allows for the accurate measurement of power in such systems. The device is configured and monitored with a standard I2C/SMBus serial interface. The unidirectional current sensor offers precision high-side operation with a low full-scale sense voltage. The device automatically collects the current-sense and voltage samples and then multiplies those values to obtain a power value it then accumulates. Upon a command from the host, the device transfers the accumulated power samples, as well as the accumulation count, to a set of registers accessible by the host. This transfer occurs without missing a sample and allows the host to retrieve the data not in real-time, but at any time interval. Watch video: Introducing the MAX34417 Evaluation KitApplicationsServersSmartphonesTabletsUltra Notebooks

MAX40200AUK+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX40200 is an ideal diode current-switch that drops so little voltage that it approaches an order of magnitude better than Schottky diodes. When forward-biased and enabled, the MAX40200 conducts with as little as 85mV of voltage drop while carrying currents as high as 1A. Typical voltage drop is 43mV at 500mA, with the voltage drop increasing linearly at higher currents. The MAX40200 thermally protects itself, and any downstream circuitry, from overtemperature conditions. When disabled (EN = low) the MAX40200 blocks voltages up to 6V in either direction, making it suitable for most low-voltage, portable electronic devices. The MAX40200 operates from a supply voltage of 1.5V to 5.5V.The MAX40200 is available in a tiny, 0.73mm X 0.73mm, 4-bump wafer-level package (WLP), with a 0.35mm bump pitch and only 0.5mm high and 5-pin SOT-23 package. The MAX40200 operates over the extended -40°C to +125°C temperature range.Design Solution: Cut Your Losses—With an Ideal Diode ›Design Solution: Design a Cooler, Safer Smart-Home Hub—Using an Ideal Diode ›How to Add a Diode ORing or Battery Backup Circuit Using the MAX40200 Ideal DiodeApplicationsCellular PhonesElectronic ToysNotebook and Tablet ComputersPortable Media PlayersPortable/Wearable Medical DevicesUSB-Powered Peripherals

DS1302ZN+

Analog Devices Inc.
The DS1302 trickle-charge timekeeping chip contains a real-time clock/calendar and 31 bytes of static RAM. It communicates with a microprocessor via a simple serial interface. The real-time clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information. The end of the month date is automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, including corrections for leap year. The clock operates in either the 24-hour or 12-hour format with an AM/PM indicator.Interfacing the DS1302 with a microprocessor is simplified by using synchronous serial communication. Only three wires are required to communicate with the clock/RAM: CE, I/O (data line), and SCLK (serial clock). Data can betransferred to and from the clock/RAM 1 byte at a time or in a burst of up to 31 bytes. The DS1302 is designed to operate on very low power and retain data and clock information on less than 1µW.The DS1302 is the successor to the DS1202. In addition to the basic timekeeping functions of the DS1202, the DS1302 has the additional features of dual power pins for primary and backup power supplies, programmable trickle charger for VCC1, and seven additional bytes of scratchpad memory.

MAX1969EUI+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX1968/MAX1969 are highly integrated and cost-effective, high-efficiency, switch-mode drivers for Peltier thermoelectric cooler (TEC) modules. Both devices utilize direct current control to eliminate current surges in the TEC. On-chip FETs minimize external components while providing high efficiency. A 500kHz/1MHz switching frequency and a unique ripple cancellation scheme reduce component size and noise. The MAX1968 operates from a single supply and provides bipolar ±3A output by biasing the TEC between the outputs of two synchronous buck regulators. Bipolar operation allows for temperature control without 'dead zones' or other nonlinearities at low load currents. This arrangement ensures that the control system does not hunt when the set point is very close to the natural operating point, requiring a small amount of heating or cooling. An analog control signal precisely sets the TEC current. The MAX1969 provides unipolar output up to 6A. Reliability is optimized with settable limits for bothTEC voltage and current, with independently set limits for heating and cooling current. An analog output also monitors TEC current. The MAX1968/MAX1969 are available in a low-profile 28-pin TSSOP-EP package and is specified over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. The thermally-enhanced TSSOP-EP package with exposed metal pad minimizes operating junction temperature. An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.ApplicationsAutomated Test Equipment (ATE)Biotech Lab EquipmentEDFA Optical AmplifiersFiber Optic Network EquipmentFiber-Optic Laser ModulesTelecom Fiber InterfacesWDM, DWDM Laser Diode Temperature Control

MAX3311EUB+T

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX3311/MAX3313 are low-power, +5V EIA/TIA-232-compatible transceivers. Both devices have one transmitter and one receiver. The transceivers have a proprietary low-dropout transmitter output stage enabling RS-232-compatible operation from a +5V supply with a single inverting charge pump. These devices require only three 0.1µF capacitors and will run at data rates up to 460kbps while maintaining RS-232-compatible output levels. The MAX3311 features a 1µA shutdown mode. In shutdown the device turns off the charge pump, pulls V- to ground, and the transmitter output is disabled. The MAX3313 features an active-low INVALID output that asserts high when an active RS-232 cable signal is connected, signaling to the host that a peripheral is connected to the communication port.ApplicationsCell PhonesDigital Still CamerasDigital Television (Receivers, Set-Top Boxes)Global Positioning Systems (GPS)ModemsPagersPen Entry PalmtopsPoint-of-Sale Terminals

MAX1602EEE+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX1602 DC power-switching IC contains a network of low-resistance MOSFET switches that deliver selectable VCC and VPP voltages to a single CardBus or PC Card host socket. Key features include low-resistance switches, small packaging, soft-switching action, and compliance with PCMCIA specifications for 3V/5V switching. 3.3V-only power switching for fast, 32-bit CardBus applications is supported in two ways: low-resistance 3.3V switches allow high 3.3V load currents (up to 1A); and completely independent internal charge pumps let the 3.3V switch operate normally, even if the +5V and +12V supplies are disconnected or turned off to conserve power. The internal charge pumps are regulating types that draw reduced input current when the VCC switches are static. Power consumption is automatically reduced to 11µA max when the outputs are high-Z or GND.Other key features include guaranteed specifications for output current limit level, and guaranteed specifications for output rise/fall times (in compliance with PCMCIA specifications). Reliability is enhanced by thermal-overload protection, accurate current limiting, an overcurrent-fault flag output, and undervoltage lock-outs. The CMOS/TTL-logic interface is flexible, and can tolerate logic input levels in excess of the positive supply rail. The MAX1602 fits a complete CardBus/PCMCIA switch into a space-saving, 16-pin QSOP package.ApplicationsData LoggingDocking StationsHandy TerminalsPCMCIA Read/Write Drives
