The Blackfin® Processor family has been expanded to address the ever-increasing need for pervasive embedded network connectivity with two new family members. This connectivity is powerful when utilized in conjunction with the high performance 16-/32-bit Blackfin embedded processor core, the flexible cache architecture, the enhanced DMA subsystem, and the Dynamic Power Management (DPM) functionality. System designers can take advantage of the combined control and signal processing capabilities of the processor core across a wide range of end applications through the scalability of the pin and code compatibility of these new family members. The ADSP-BF536 and ADSP-BF537 are a functional extension of the popular ADSP-BF531 / ADSP-BF532 / ADSP-BF533 processors, and they are ideally suited for a variety of networked applications. The ADSP-BF537 is the higher performance series member, with more embedded memory enabling higher throughput needs for embedded applications suchas video security/surveillance and industrial-environment-based distributed control/factory automation applications. The ADSP-BF536 offers exceptional performance and is designed for low cost connected devices such as remote monitoring devices, VoIP, point-of-saleterminals, and biometrics/security applications. Both devices are ideally suited for a broad range of industrial, instrumentation, medical, and consumer appliance applications— allowing for scalability based upon the required network bandwidth and mix of control, plus signal processing needed in the end product.

For supply voltages between 4 V and 30 V, the device acts as a high impedance, constant current regulator passing 1 μA/K. Laser trimming of the chip’s thin-film resistors is used to calibrate the device to 298.2 μA output at 298.2 K (25°C).The AD590 should be used in any temperature-sensing application below 150°C in which conventional electrical temperature sensors are currently employed. The inherent low cost of a monolithic integrated circuit combined with the elimination of support circuitry makes the AD590 an attractive alternative for many temperature measurement situations. Linearization circuitry, precision voltage amplifiers, resistance measuring circuitry, and cold junction compensation are not needed in applying the AD590.In addition to temperature measurement, applications include temperature compensation or correction of discrete components, biasing proportional to absolute temperature, flow rate measurement, level detection of fluids and anemometry. The AD590 is available in die form, making it suitable for hybrid circuits and fast temperature measurements in protected environments.The AD590 is particularly useful in remote sensing applications. The device is insensitive to voltage drops over long lines due to its high impedance current output. Any well-insulated twisted pair is sufficient for operation at hundreds of feet from the receiving circuitry. The output characteristics also make the AD590 easy to multiplex: the current can be switched by a CMOS multiplexer, or the supply voltage can be switched by a logic gate output.PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS The AD590 is a calibrated, 2-terminal temperature sensor requiring only a dc voltage supply (4 V to 30 V). Costly transmitters, filters, lead wire compensation, and linearization circuits are all unnecessary in applying the device. State-of-the-art laser trimming at the wafer level in conjunction with extensive final testing ensures that AD590 units are easily interchangeable. Superior interface rejection occurs because the output is a current rather than a voltage. In addition, power requirements are low (1.5 mW @ 5 V @ 25°C). These features make the AD590 easy to apply as a remote sensor. The high output impedance (>10 MΩ) provides excellent rejection of supply voltage drift. For instance, changing the power supply from 5 V to 10 V results in only a 1 μA maximum current change, or 1°C equivalent error. The AD590 is electrically durable: it withstands a forward voltage of up to 44 V and a reverse voltage of 20 V. Therefore, supply irregularities or pin reversal does not damage the device.

The ADE9000 is a highly accurate, fully integrated, multiphase energy and power quality monitoring device. Superior analog performance and a digital signal processing (DSP) core enable accurate energy monitoring over a wide dynamic range. An integrated high end reference ensures low drift over temperature with a combined drift of less than ±25 ppm/°C maximum for the entire channel including a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC).The ADE9000 offers complete power monitoring capability by providing total as well as fundamental measurements on rms, active, reactive, and apparent powers and energies. Advanced features such as dip and swell monitoring, frequency, phase angle, voltage total harmonic distortion (VTHD), current total harmonic distortion (ITHD), and power factor measurements enable implementation of power quality measurements. The ½ cycle rms and 10 cycle rms/12 cycle rms, calculated according to IEC 61000-4-30 Class S, provide instantaneous rms measurements for real-time monitoring.The ADE9000 offers an integrated flexible waveform buffer that stores samples at a fixed data rate of 32 kSPS or 8 kSPS, or a sampling rate that varies based on line frequency to ensure 128 points per line cycle. Resampling simplifies fast Fourier transform (FFT) calculation of at least 50 harmonics in an external processor.The ADE9000 simplifies the implementation of energy and power quality monitoring systems by providing tight integration of acquisition and calculation engines. The integrated ADCs and DSP engine calculate various parameters and provide data through user accessible registers or indicate events through interrupt pins. With seven dedicated ADC channels, the ADE9000 can be used on a 3-phase system or up to three single-phase systems. It supports current transformers (CTs) or Rogowski coils for current measurements. A digital integrator eliminates a discrete integrator required for Rogowski coils.The ADE9000 absorbs most complexity in calculations for a power monitoring system. The ADPD2211 is an optical sensor optimized for biomedical applications. Very low power consumption and near theoretical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are achieved by packaging an ultralow capacitance deep junction silicon photodiode operated in zero bias photoconductive mode with a low noise current amplifier. The ADPD2211 offers a typical 400 kHz bandwidth performance, which is well suited for use with pulsed excitation. The ADPD2211 uses very little power during operation and incorporates a power-down pin, enabling power cycling to optimize battery life in portable applications. The ADPD2211 provides shot noise limited performance, making it an excellent choice for measuring signals with the highest possible fidelity in low light conditions. The ADuM120N/ADuM121N1 are dual-channel digital isolators based on Analog Devices, Inc., iCoupler® technology. Combining high speed, complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) and monolithic air core transformer technology, these isolation components provide outstanding performance characteristics superior to alternatives such as optocoupler devices and other integrated couplers. The maximum propagation delay is 13 ns with a pulse width distortion of less than 3 ns at 5 V operation. Channel matching is tight at 3.0 ns maximum.The ADuM120N/ADuM121N data channels are independent and are available in a variety of configurations with a withstand voltage rating of 3 kV rms (see the Ordering Guide). The devices operate with the supply voltage on either side ranging from 1.8 V to 5 V, providing compatibility with lower voltage systems as well as enabling voltage translation functionality across the isolation barrier.Unlike other optocoupler alternatives, dc correctness is ensured in the absence of input logic transitions. Two different fail-safe options are available in which the outputs transition to a predetermined state when the input power supply is not applied or the inputs are disabled.The ADuM120N0 is pin-compatible with the ADuM1285, and the ADuM120N1 is pin-compatible with the ADuM1280 and the ADuM1200. The HMC709LC5 is a compact GaAs MMIC I/Q upconverter in a leadless RoHS compliant SMT package. This device provides a small signal conversion gain of 13 dB with -20 dBc of sideband rejection. The HMC709LC5 utilizes a driver amplifier preceded by an I/Q mixer which is driven by an LO buffer amplifier. IF1 and IF2 mixer inputs are provided and an external 90° hybrid is needed to select the required sideband.The I/Q mixer topology reduces the need for filtering of the unwanted sideband. The HMC1164 is a monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC), voltage controlled oscillator that integrates a resonator, a negative resistance device, and a varactor diode, and features a half frequency output.Because of the monolithic construction of the oscillator, the output power and phase noise performance are excellent over temperature.The power output is 8 dBm typical from a 5 V supply voltage. The voltage controlled oscillator is housed in a RoHS-compliant LFCSP package and requires no external matching components.APPLICATIONS Point to point and multipoint radios Test equipment and industrial controls Very small aperture terminals (VSATs)
