The MAX3421E USB peripheral/host controller contains the digital logic and analog circuitry necessary to implement a full-speed USB peripheral or a full-/low-speed host compliant to USB specification rev 2.0. A built-in transceiver features ±15kV ESD protection and programmable USB connect and disconnect. An internal serial interface engine (SIE) handles low-level USB protocol details such as error checking and bus retries. The MAX3421E operates using a register set accessed by an SPI interface that operates up to 26MHz. Any SPI master (microprocessor, ASIC, DSP, etc.) can add USB peripheral or host functionality using the simple 3- or 4-wire SPI interface.The MAX3421E makes the vast collection of USB peripherals available to any microprocessor, ASIC, or DSP when it operates as a USB host. For point-to-point solutions, for example, a USB keyboard or mouse interfaced to an embedded system, the firmware that operates the MAX3421E can be simple since only a targeted device is supported.Internal level translators allow the SPI interface to run at a system voltage between 1.4V and 3.6V. USB-timed operations are done inside the MAX3421E with interrupts provided at completion so an SPI master does not need timers to meet USB timing requirements. The MAX3421E includes eight general-purpose inputs and outputs so any microprocessor that uses I/O pins to implement the SPI interface can reclaim the I/O pins and gain additional ones.The MAX3421E operates over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range and is available in a 32-pin TQFP package (5mm x 5mm) and a 32-pin TQFN package (5mm x 5mm). The MAX4885 integrates high-bandwidth analog switches and level translating buffers to implement a complete 1:2 or 2:1 multiplexer for VGA signals. The device provides switching for RGB, display data channel (DDC), and horizontal and vertical synchronization (HSYNC, VSYNC) signals. A low-noise charge pump with internal capacitors provides a boosted gate-drive voltage to improve performance of the RGB switches. In the 1:2 multiplexer mode, HSYNC/VSYNC inputs feature level-shifting buffers to support low voltage CMOS or standard TTL-compatible graphics controllers. In the 2:1 multiplexer mode, the output buffers for the HSYNC/VSYNC inputs are disabled, allowing bidirectional signaling. In both modes, DDC signals are voltage-clamped to an external voltage to provide level translation and protection. The MAX5440 dual, 40kΩ logarithmic taper volume control features a debounced up/down interface for use with a simple rotary encoder without using a microcontroller (µC). Each potentiometer has 32 log-spaced tap points with a buffered wiper output and replaces mechanical potentiometers. An integrated bias generator provides the required ((VDD + VSS) / 2) bias voltage, eliminating the need for costly external op-amp circuits in unipolar audio applications. A mode-indicator LED output specifies volume or balance control. Five integrated LED drivers indicate volume level or balance settings, depending on the status of the mode indicator.The MAX5440 includes debounced pushbutton inputs for mute and mode. The mute input allows a single pushbutton to change between volume control and the -90dB (typ) mute setting. The mode input toggles between volume and balance control. A click-and-pop suppression feature minimizes the audible noise generated by wiper transitions. The MAX5440 provides a nominal temperature coefficient of 35ppm/°C end-to-end and 5ppm/°C, ratiometrically. The MAX3171/MAX3173 are three-driver/three-receiver multiprotocol transceivers that operate from a single +3.3V supply. The MAX3171/MAX3173, along with the MAX3170 and MAX3172/MAX3174, form a complete software-selectable data terminal equipment (DTE) or data communications equipment (DCE) interface port that supports V.28 (RS-232) and V.10/V.11 (RS-449, V.36, EIA-530, EIA-530-A, X.21, RS-423) protocols. The MAX3171/MAX3173 transceivers carry the serial interface control signaling; the MAX3170 transceivers carry the clock and data signals. The MAX3172/MAX3174 have an extra transceiver for applications requiring four transceivers for control signaling.An internal charge pump and proprietary low-dropout transmitter output stage allow V.28, V.11, and V.10 compliant operation from a single +3.3V supply. A no-cable mode is entered when all mode pins (M0, M1, and M2) are pulled high or left unconnected. In no-cable mode, supply current decreases to 2mA and all transmitter and receiver outputs are disabled (high impedance). Short-circuit limiting and thermal-shutdown circuits protect the drivers against excessive power dissipation.The MAX3171 features 10µs deglitching on the V.10/V.11/V.28 receiver inputs. The MAX4548/MAX4549 serial-interface, programmable, triple 3x2 audio/video crosspoint switches are ideal for multimedia applications. The devices include three crosspoint switch matrices, each containing three inputs and two outputs. To improve off-isolation, each switch matrix has a shunt input and each output is selectively programmable for clickless or regular-mode operation. A selectable set of internal resistive voltage dividers supplies DC bias for each output when using AC-coupled inputs. To improve crosstalk, the voltage dividers include four externally accessible bypass points.The MAX4548/MAX4549 feature 35Ω max on-resistance, 7Ω on-resistance matching between channels, 5Ω on-resistance flatness, and 0.07% total harmonic distortion (THD). Additionally, they feature off-isolation of -85dB at 20kHz and -72dB at 10MHz, with crosstalk of -85dB at 20kHz and -55dB at 10MHz. The MAX4548 uses a 2-wire I²-compatible serial interface, while the MAX4549 uses a 3-wire SPI™/QSPI™/MICROWIRE™-compatible serial interface.
