The MAX20328/MAX20328A/MAX20328B are USB Type-C audio interface ICs for use in portable devices. As USB Type-C and USB power delivery (PD) make a high-voltage charging solution readily available, the data and SBU lines are at risk of shorting to a high bus voltage, risking permanent damage to the portable device. USB 2.0 data lines also need protection when multiplexed with analog audio signals that vary from positive to negative voltages. The MAX5160/MAX5161 linear-taper digital potentiometers perform the same function as a mechanical potentiometer or a variable resistor. They consist of a fixed resistor and a wiper contact with 32 tap points that are digitally controlled by three lines for the 8-pin MAX5160 or by two lines for the 6-pin MAX5161.These parts are ideal for applications requiring digitally controlled resistors. Three resistance values are available for each part type: 50kΩ,100kΩ, and 200kΩ. The MAX560/MAX561 are the first +3.3V-powered devices to implement the EIA/TIA-562 standard, which guarantees interoperability with RS-232 interfaces. The MAX560/MAX561 are guaranteed to operate with a +3.0V power supply at a 20kbits/sec data rate while maintaining ±3.7V EIA/TIA-562 signal levels.The MAX560/MAX561 include four line drivers, five receivers, a shutdown mode, and a receiver-enable input. An on-board charge-pump voltage converter converts the +3.3V input to the ±6.6V needed to comply with the EIA/TIA-562 output levels. The MAX560 has an active-low shutdown and an active-high receiver enable. In shutdown mode, two receivers are active, allowing unidirectional communication for peripheral monitoring. The MAX561 has an active-high shutdown and an active-low receiver enable. In shutdown mode, all receivers are in a high-impedance, three-state mode.The MAX560/MAX561 are available in a standard 28-pin wide small outline (SO) package and a 28-pin shrink small outline package (SSOP), which requires 40% of the board space of the SO package. Each operates with four 1µF capacitors, further reducing board space.
