MAX180ACQH+D

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX180/MAX181 are complete 12-bit Data Acquisition System (DAS) which combine 8/6 channel input multiplexer, high bandwidth Track-and-Hold (T/H), low-drift zener reference, and flexible microprocessor (µP) interface with high conversion speed and low power consuption. The MAX180/MAX181 can be configured by a µP for unipolar or bipolar conversions and single-ended or differential inputs. Both devices sample and digitize at 100kHz throughout rate and feature a fast 8- or 16-bit µP interface. The MAX180 has 8 analog input channels, while the MAX181 has 6. The multiplexer output of the MAX180 is fed directly into the Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) input. The MAX181 brings out both the multiplexer output and ADC input to separate pins, allowing a programmable gain amplifier to be inserted between the MUX and the ADC.The systems allow the user to choose between an internal or an external reference. Furthermore, the internal reference value and the offest can be adjusted, allowing the overall system gain and offset errors to be nulled. The multiplexer has high impedence inputs, simplifying analog drive requirements.ApplicationsAutomated Test Equipment (ATE)Digital Signal Processing (DSP)High-Accuracy Process ControlHigh-Speed Servo Loops

MAX199BCAI+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX199 multi-range, 12-bit data-acquisition system(DAS) requires only a single +5V supply for operation, and converts analog signals up to ±4V at its inputs. Thissystem provides eight analog input channels that areindependently software programmable for a variety ofranges: ±VREF, ±VREF/2, 0V to VREF, or 0V to VREF/2.This increases effective dynamic range to 14 bits, andprovides the user flexibility to interface 4mA-to-20mA,±12V, and ±15V powered sensors to a single +5V system. In addition, the converter is fault-protected to±16.5V; a fault condition on any channel will not affectthe conversion result of the selected channel. Other featuresinclude a 5MHz bandwidth track/hold, 100kspsthroughput rate, internal/external clock, internal/externalacquisition control, 8+4 parallel interface, and operationwith an internal 4.096V or external reference.A hardware active-low SHDN pin and two programmable power-downmodes (STBYPD, FULLPD) provide low-currentshutdown between conversions. In STBYPD mode, thereference buffer remains active, eliminating start-updelays.The MAX199 employs a standard microprocessor (µP)interface. Its three-state data I/O interface is configuredto operate with 8-bit data buses, and data-access andbus-release timing specifications are compatible withmost popular µPs. All logic inputs and outputs areTTL/CMOS compatible. The MAX199 is available in 28-pin DIP, wide SO, SSOP,and ceramic SB packages. For a different combination of input ranges (±10V, ±5V,0V to 10V, 0V to 5V), see the MAX197 data sheet. For 12-bit bus interfaces, see the MAX196/MAX198 data sheet.ApplicationsAutomatic Testing SystemsData-Acquisition SystemsIndustrial-Control SystemsMedical InstrumentsRoboticsTelecommunications

MAX366CPA+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX366 and MAX367 are multiple, two-terminal circuit protectors. Placed in series with signal lines, each two-terminal device guards sensitive circuit components against voltages near and beyond the normal supply voltages. These devices are used at interfaces where sensitive circuits are connected to the external world and could encounter damaging voltages (up to 35V beyond the supply rails) during power-up, power-down, or fault conditions. The MAX366 contains three independent protectors and the MAX367 contains eight. They can protect analog signals using either unipolar (4.5V to 36V) or bipolar (±2.25V to ±18V) power supplies. Each protector is symmetrical. Input and output terminals may be freely interchanged. These devices are voltage-sensitive MOSFET transistor arrays that are normally on when power is applied and normally open circuit when power is off. With ±10V supplies, on-resistance is 100Ω max and leakage is less than 1nA at +25°C.When signal voltages exceed or are within approximately 1.5V of either power-supply voltage (including when power is off), the two-terminal resistance increases dramatically, limiting fault current as well as output voltage to sensitive circuits. The protected side of the switch maintains the correct polarity and clamps approximately 1.5V below the supply rail. There are no 'glitches' or polarity reversals going into or coming out of a fault condition.ApplicationsAutomated Test Equipment (ATE)Data AcquisitionHot-Insertion Boards/SystemsProcess Control SystemsRedundant/Backup SystemsSensitive Instruments
