Analog Devices Inc.
The ADuC845, ADuC847, and ADuC848 are single-cycle,12.58 MIPs, 8052 core upgrades to the ADuC834 andADuC836. They include additional analog inputs forapplications requiring more ADC channels. The ADuC845, ADuC847, and ADuC848 are complete smarttransducer front ends. The family integrates high resolutionΣ-Δ ADCs with flexible, up to 10-channel, input multiplexing, afast 8-bit MCU, and program and data Flash/EE memory on asingle chip. The ADuC845 includes two (primary and auxiliary) 24-bit Σ-ΔADCs with internal buffering and PGA on the primary ADC.The ADuC847 includes the same primary ADC as the ADuC845(auxiliary ADC removed). The ADuC848 is a 16-bit ADCversion of the ADuC847.The ADCs incorporate flexible input multiplexing, a temperaturesensor (ADuC845 only), and a PGA (primary ADC only)allowing direct measurement of low-level signals. The ADCsinclude on-chip digital filtering and programmable output datarates that are intended for measuring wide dynamic range andlow frequency signals, such as those in weigh scale, strain gage, pressure transducer, or temperature measurement applications. The devices operate from a 32 kHz crystal with an on-chip PLLgenerating a high frequency clock of 12.58 MHz. This clock isrouted through a programmable clock divider from which theMCU core clock operating frequency is generated. The microcontrollercore is an optimized single-cycle 8052 offering up to12.58 MIPs performance while maintaining 8051 instruction setcompatibility. The available nonvolatile Flash/EE program memory optionsare 62 kbytes, 32 kbytes, and 8 kbytes. 4 kbytes of nonvolatileFlash/EE data memory and 2304 bytes of data RAM are alsoprovided on-chip. SSM2167Z-EVAL

Analog Devices Inc.
The SSM2167 is a complete and flexible solution for conditioning microphone inputs in personal electronics and computer audio systems. It is also excellent for improving vocal clarity in com-munications and public address systems. A low noise voltage controlled amplifier (VCA) provides a gain that is dynamically adjusted by a control loop to maintain a set compression characteristic. The compression ratio is set by a single resistor and can be varied from 1:1 to over 10:1 relative to the fixed rotation point. Signals above the rotation point are limited to prevent overload and to eliminate popping. A downward expander (noise gate) prevents amplification of background noise or hum. This results in optimized signal levels prior to digitization, thereby eliminating the need for additional gain or attenuation in the digital domain. The flexibility of setting the compression ratio and the time constant of the level detector, coupled with two values of rotation point, make the SSM2167 easy to integrate in a wide variety of microphone conditioning applications. The device is available in a 10-lead MSOP package, and is guaranteed for operation over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.ApplicationsDesktop, portable, or palmtop computersTelephone conferencingCommunication headsetsTwo-way communicationsSurveillance systemsKaraoke and DJ mixers

AD5162BRMZ10

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5162 provides a compact 3 mm × 4.9 mm packaged solution for dual 256 position adjustment applications. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a 3-terminal mechanical potentiometer.Available in four different end-to-end resistance values (2.5 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, 100 kΩ), this low temperature coefficient device is ideal for high accuracy and stability-variable resistance adjustments. The wiper settings are controllable through the SPI compatible digital interface. The resistance between the wiper and either end point of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the RDAC latch.Operating from a 2.7 V to 5.5 V power supply and consuming less than 6 µA allows the AD5162 to be used in portable battery-operated applications. For applications that program the AD5162 at the factory, Analog Devices offers device programming software running on Windows® NT/2000/XP operating systems. This software effectively replaces the need for external SPI controllers, which in turn enhances the time to market of systems. An AD5162 evaluation kit and software are available. The kit includes a cable and instruction manual.APPLICATIONS Systems calibrations Electronics level settings Mechanical trimmers replacement in new designs Permanent factory PCB setting Transducer adjustment of pressure, temperature, position, chemical, and optical sensors RF amplifier biasing Automotive electronics adjustment Gain control and offset adjustment

The AD5204/AD5206 provide 4-/6-channel, 256-position digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) devices. These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer or variable resistor. Each channel of the AD5204/AD5206 contains a fixed resistor with a wiper contact that taps the fixed resistor value at a point determined by a digital code loaded into the SPI-compatible serial-input register. The resistance between the wiper and either endpoint of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the VR latch. The variable resistor offers a completely programmable value of resistance between the A terminal and the wiper or the B terminal and the wiper. The fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, or 100 kΩ has a nominal temperature coefficient of 700 ppm/°C.Each VR has its own VR latch that holds its programmed resistance value. These VR latches are updated from an internal serial-to-parallel shift register that is loaded from a standard 3-wire serial-input digital interface. Eleven data bits make up the data-word clocked into the serial input register. The first three bits are decoded to determine which VR latch is loaded with the last eight bits of the data-word when the CS strobe is returned to logic high. A serial data output pin at the opposite end of the serial register (AD5204 only) allows simple daisy chaining in multiple VR applications without requiring additional external decoding logic. An optional reset (PR) pin forces all the AD5204 wipers to the midscale position by loading 0x80 into the VR latch. The AD5204/AD5206 are available in the 24-lead surface-mount SOIC and TSSOP packages. The AD5204 is also available in a 32-lead, 5 mm × 5 mm LFCSP package. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C. The AD5220 provides a single channel, 128-position digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) device. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer or variable resistor. These products were optimized for instrument and test equipment push-button applications. A choice between bandwidth or power dissipation are available as a result of the wide selection of end-to-end terminal resistance values. The AD5220 contains a fixed resistor with a wiper contact that taps the fixed resistor value at a point determined by a digitally controlled UP/DOWN counter. The resistance between the wiper and either end point of the fixed resistor provides a con stant resistance step size that is equal to the end-to-end resistance divided by the number of positions (e.g., RSTEP = 10 kΩ / 128 = 78Ω). The variable resistor offers a true adjustable value of resistance, between the A terminal and the wiper, or the B terminal and the wiper. The fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, or 100 kΩ has a nominal temperature coefficient of 800 ppm/°C.The chip select CS, count CLK and U/D direction control inputs set the variable resistor position. These inputs that control the internal UP/DOWN counter can be easily generated with mechanical or push button switches (or other contact closure devices). External debounce circuitry is required for the negative-edge sensitive CLK pin. This simple digital interface eliminates the need for microcontrollers in front panel interface designs. The AD5220 is available in both surface mount (SO-8) and the 8-lead plastic DIP package. For ultracompact solutions selected models are available in the thin μSOIC package. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
