The AD5241 / AD5242 provide a single-/dual-channel, 256-position, digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) device. These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer, trimmer, or variable resistor. Each VR offers a completely programmable value of resistance between the A terminal and the wiper, or the B terminal and the wiper. For the AD5242, the fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 10 kΩ, 100 kΩ, or 1 MΩ has a 1% channel-to-channel matching tolerance. The nominal temperature coefficient of both parts is 30 ppm/°C.Wiper position programming defaults to midscale at system power on. When powered, the VR wiper position is programmed by an I2C-compatible, 2-wire serial data interface. Both parts have two extra programmable logic outputs available that enable users to drive digital loads, logic gates, LED drivers, and analog switches in their system.The AD5241 / AD5242 are available in surface-mount, 14-lead SOIC and 16-lead SOIC packages and, for ultracompact solutions, 14-lead TSSOP and 16-lead TSSOP packages. The AD5260 / AD5262 provide a single- or dual-channel, 256- position, digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) device.1 These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer or variable resistor. Each channel of the AD5260/AD5262 contains a fixed resistor with a wiper contact that taps the fixed resistor value at a point determined by a digital code loaded into the SPI-compatible serial-input register. The resistance between the wiper and either end point of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the VR latch. The variable resistor offers a completely programmable value of resistance, between the A terminal and the wiper or the B terminal and the wiper. The fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 20 Ω, 50 Ω, or 200 Ω has a nominal temperature coefficient of 35 ppm/°C. Unlike the majority of the digital potentiometers in the market, these devices can operate up to 15 V or ±5 V provided proper supply voltages are furnished.Each VR has its own VR latch that holds its programmed resistance value. These VR latches are updated from an internal serial-to-parallel shift register, which is loaded from a standard 3-wire serial-input digital interface. The AD5260 contains an 8-bit serial register whereas the AD5262 contains a 9-bit serial register. Each bit is clocked into the register on the positive edge of the CLK pin. The AD5262 address bit determines the corresponding VR latch to be loaded with the last eight bits of the data word during the positive edging of CS strobe. A serial data output pin at the opposite end of the serial register enables simple daisy-chaining in multiple VR applications without additional external decoding logic. An optional reset pin (PR) forces the wiper to the midscale position by loading 0x80 into the VR latch.The AD5260 / AD5262 are available in thin surface-mount 14-lead TSSOP and 16-lead TSSOP packages. The AD633 is a functionally complete, four-quadrant, analog multiplier. It includes high impedance, differential X and Y inputs, and a high impedance summing input (Z). The low impedance output voltage is a nominal 10 V full scale provided by a buried Zener. The AD633 is the first product to offer these features in modestly priced 8-lead PDIP and SOIC packages.The AD633 is laser calibrated to a guaranteed total accuracy of 2% of full scale. Nonlinearity for the Y input is typically less than 0.1% and noise referred to the output is typically less than 100 μV rms in a 10 Hz to 10 kHz bandwidth. A 1 MHz bandwidth, 20 V/μs slew rate, and the ability to drive capacitive loads make the AD633 useful in a wide variety of applications where simplicity and cost are key concerns.The versatility of the AD633 is not compromised by its simplicity. The Z input provides access to the output buffer amplifier, enabling the user to sum the outputs of two or more multipliers, increase the multiplier gain, convert the output voltage to a current, and configure a variety of applications.The AD633 is available in 8-lead PDIP and SOIC packages. The AD9850 is a highly integrated device that uses advanced DDS technology coupled with an internal high speed, high performance, D/A converter and comparator, to form a complete digitally programmable frequency synthesizer and clock generator function. When referenced to an accurate clock source, the AD9850 generates a spectrally pure, frequency/ phase-programmable, analog output sine wave. This sine wave can be used directly as a frequency source or converted to a square wave for agile-clock generator applications. The AD9850’s innovative high speed DDS core provides a 32-bit frequency tuning word, which results in an output tuning resolution of 0.0291 Hz, for a 125 MHz reference clock input. The AD9850’s circuit architecture allows the generation of output frequencies of up to one-half the reference clock frequency (or 62.5 MHz), and the output frequency can be digitally changed (asynchronously) at a rate of up to 23 million new frequencies per second. The device also provides five bits of digitally controlled phase modulation, which enables phase shifting of its output in increments of 180°, 90°, 45°, 22.5°, 11.25° and any combination thereof. The AD9850 also contains a high speed comparator that can be configured to accept the (externally) filtered output of the DAC to generate a low jitter square wave output. This facilitates the device’s use as an agile clock generator function.The frequency tuning, control, and phase modulation words are loaded into the AD9850 via a parallel byte or serial loading format. The parallel load format consists of five iterative loads of an 8-bit control word (byte). The first byte controls phase modulation, power-down enable, and loading format; bytes 2–5 comprise the 32-bit frequency tuning word. Serial loading is accomplished via a 40-bit serial data stream on a single pin. The AD9850 Complete-DDS uses advanced CMOS technology to provide this breakthrough level of functionality and performance on just 155 mW of power dissipation (+3.3 V supply).The AD9850 is available in a space saving 28-lead SSOP, surface mount package. The ADG465 is a single channel protector that comes in SOT-23and MSOP packages. The channel protector is in series with thesignal path and protects sensitive components from voltagetransience in the signal path whether or not the power suppliesare present. Because the channel protection works regardless ofthe presence of the supplies, the channel protectors are ideal foruse in applications where correct power sequencing cannotalways be guaranteed to protect the analog inputs (for example, hotinsertion rack systems).A channel protector consists of an N channel, metal-oxidesemiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET), a P channelMOSFET, and another N channel MOSFET connected in series.The channel protector behaves like a series resistor during normaloperation, that is, (VSS + 1.5 V) < VIN < (VDD − 1.5 V). When theanalog input of a channel exceeds the power supplies (includingVDD and VSS = 0 V), one of the MOSFETs switches off, clampingthe output to either VSS + 1.5 V or VDD − 1.5 V. Circuitry andsignal source protection are provided in the event of an overvoltageor power loss. The channel protectors can withstand overvoltageinputs from −40 V to +40 V.The ADG465 can operate from both bipolar and unipolar supplies.The channels are normally on when power is connected, andopen circuit when power is disconnected. With power supplies of±15 V, the on resistance of the ADG465 is 80 Ω typical, with aleakage current of ±1 nA maximum. When power is disconnected,the input leakage current is approximately ±0.005 μA typical.The ADG465 is available in a 6-lead SOT-23 package, and an8-lead MSOP package.Product Highlights Fault Protection.
