The MAX25612/MAX25612B is a single-channel high-brightness LED (HB LED) driver for automotive front-light applications such as high beam, low beam, daytime running light (DRL), turn indicator, fog light and other LED lights. It can take an input voltage from 5V to 48V and can drive a string of LEDs with a maximum output voltage of 65V. The MAX25612/MAX25612B is fully synchronous and is suitable for boost and buck-boost applications that need synchronous rectification providing efficiencies greater than 90%.The MAX25612/MAX25612B senses output current at the high side of the LED string. High-side current sensing is required to protect against shorts from the output to the ground or battery input. It is also the most flexible scheme for driving LEDs, allowing boost, high-side buck, or buck-boost mode configurations. The PWM input provides LED dimming ratios of up to 5000:1, and the ICTRL input provides additional analog dimming capability in the MAX25612/MAX25612B. The MAX25612/MAX25612B also includes a active-low FLT flag that indicates open string, shorted string, and thermal shutdown. The MAX25612/MAX25612B has built-in spread-spectrum modulation for improved electromagnetic compatibility performance. The MAX16803 current regulator operates from a 6.5V to 40V input-voltage range and delivers up to a total of 350mA to one or more strings of high-brightness LEDs (HB LEDs). The output current of the MAX16803 is adjusted by using an external current-sense resistor in series with the LEDs. A dimming input allows widerange 'pulsed' PWM operation. Wave-shaping circuitry reduces EMI. The differential current-sense input increases noise immunity. The MAX16803 is well suited for applications requiring high-voltage input and is able to withstand automotive load-dump events up to 40V. An on-board pass element minimizes external components while providing ±3.5% output-current accuracy. The MAX16818 pulse-width modulation (PWM) LED driver controller provides high-output-current capability in a compact package with a minimum number of external components. The MAX16818 is suitable for use in synchronous and nonsynchronous step-down (buck) topologies, as well as in boost, buck-boost, SEPIC, and Cuk LED drivers. The MAX16818 is the first LED driver controller that enables Maxim's technology for fast LED current transients of up to 20A/µs and 30kHz dimming frequency.This device utilizes average-current-mode control that enables optimal use of MOSFETs with optimal charge and on-resistance characteristics. This results in the minimized need for external heatsinking even when delivering up to 30A of LED current. True differential sensing enables accurate control of the LED current. A wide dimming range is easily implemented to accommodate an external PWM signal. An internal regulator enables operation over a wide input voltage range: 4.75V to 5.5V or 7V to 28V and above with a simple external biasing device.
