The LT3799 is an isolated flyback controller with power factor correction specifically designed for driving LEDs. The controller operates using critical conduction mode allowing the use of a small transformer. Using a novel current sensing scheme, the controller is able to deliver a well regulated current to the secondary side without using an opto-coupler. A strong gate driver is included to drive an external high voltage MOSFET. Utilizing an onboard multiplier, the LT3799 typically achieves power factors of 0.97. The FAULT pin provides notification of open and short LED conditions.The LT3799 uses a micropower hysteretic start-up to efficiently operate at offline input voltages, with a third winding to provide power to the part. An internal LDO provides a well regulated supply for the part’s internal circuitry and gate driver. The ADP8140 provides high current control of up to four LED drivers. Each driver can sink up to 500 mA. The sink current is programmed for all four drivers with one external resistor.The device features a feedback output that controls an external power supply for optimal efficiency. The ADP8140 also protects the LEDs, power supply, and itself against thermal events, short circuits, overvoltages, and LED open circuits. Multiple ADP8140 ICs are easily connected in parallel to drive additional LED strings or higher current LEDs. LT3960 and LT3967 Demo Board | 1.3A 8-Switch Matrix LED Dimmer with I2C to CAN-Physical Layer Transceiver

Demonstration circuit 2686A is a 1.3A 8-switch matrix LED dimmer system with an I2C to CAN-physical transceiver featuring the LT3967 and LT3960. This demonstration circuit connects directly to a LED string and LED driver demonstration circuit to allow for independent dimming control of up to 8 channels of LEDs. A Linduino® One demonstration circuit is used to interface with the board and can connect in one of two different ways: Connect directly to a Linduino One demonstration circuit with a QuikEval™ ribbon cable. Connect using the LT3960 break-off board to connect to the I2C master device, but pass data over two twisted pair lines to the LT3960 on the main PCB. The LT3967 matrix dimmer features 8 individually con-trolled 1.3A rated floating NMOS switch channels and can support up to 56V of LEDs per device. The channels of the LT3967 can be configured for series connections, or non-series connections. Additional DC2686A demo circuits can be connected in series for higher number of LEDs, or in parallel to allow for higher current operation. Resistors are used to configure both the I2C slave address as well as the default start-up state. The default configuration for DC2686A sets the I2C address as 0000 with all LEDs off. See the LT3967 data sheet for details. The LT3960 I2C to CAN-Physical transceiver is used to send and receive I2C data through harsh or noisy environments at up to 400kb/s using the CAN-Physical layer for differential signaling over twisted pair connections. Both SDA and SCL data lines are converted to differential signals and are shared between devices connected to the bus. This allows for physical separation of the I2C source with the LT3960 transceiver board and the LT3967 main PCB along with the LED driver. This demo circuit is designed to be easily configured and interfaced with a compatible low output capacitance LED driver and LED string. It can easily be directly attached to a buck LED driver or a floating buck-mode LED driver. More sophisticated setups with series matrix dimmers for higher number of LEDs such as 12 or 16 is possible. Please consult factory applications for details or look for more details on analog.com. The data sheets must be read in conjunction with the demo manual for demonstration circuit DC2686A. The LT3967EFE is assembled in a thermally enhanced 28-lead TSSOP package. The LT3960EMSE is assembled in a 10-lead MSOP package.

Demonstration circuit 2020A is a 60VIN, 80VOUT LED driver. It generates its own PWMOUT waveform from its internal PWM generator for accurate PWM dimming with up to 33:1 brightness ratio. It accepts an input voltage from 5V to 60V and drives up to 67V of LEDs at 300mA (when PVIN is less than VLED). DC2020A features both PWM and analog dimming of the LED string. It has an OPENLED flag that indicates when the LED string has been removed. DC2020A features high efficiency at 350kHz switching frequency. At high LED string voltages up to 67V and 300mA of LED current, the single switch controller has 92% efficiency. The LT3955 has an internal 80V, 3.5A switch that simplifies the schematic and layout.

The LTC3202 is a fractional charge pump LED driver that operates from 2.7V to 4.5V (3.3V nominal) and provides up to 125mA of LED current. The demo board includes 6 white LEDs in parallel, supplying approximately 20mA of current per LED.  Controls pins D0 and D1 set the values for the internal 2-bit DAC, which allows LED current to be adjusted for LED brightness control.
