Analog Devices Inc.
The LTC4000-1 is a high voltage, high performance controller that converts many externally compensated DC/DC power supplies into full-featured battery chargers with maximum power point control. In contrast to the LTC4000, the LTC4000-1 has an input voltage regulation loop instead of the input current regulation loop.Features of the LTC4000-1’s battery charger include: accurate (±0.25%) programmable float voltage, selectable timer or current termination, temperature qualified charging using an NTC thermistor, automatic recharge, C/10 trickle charge for deeply discharged cells, bad battery detection and status indicator outputs. The battery charger also includes precision current sensing that allows lower sense voltages for high current applications. The LTC4000-1 supports intelligent PowerPath control. An external PFET provides low loss reverse current protection. Another external PFET provides low loss charging or discharging of the battery. This second PFET also facilitates an instant-on feature that provides immediate downstream system power even when connected to a heavily discharged or shorted battery. The LTC4000-1 is available in a low profile 28-lead 4mm × 5mm QFN and SSOP packages.  LTC4000 LTC4000-1 Input Voltage Regulation MPPC No Yes Input Current Monitoring Yes Yes Input Current Regulation Yes No Applications Solar Powered Battery Charger Systems Battery Charger with High Impedance Input Source, e.g., Fuel Cell or Wind Turbine Battery Equipped Industrial or Portable Military Equipments

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX14920/MAX14921 battery measurement analog front-end devices accurately sample cell voltages and provide level shifting for primary/secondary battery packs up to 16 cells/+65V (max). The MAX14920 monitors up to 12 cells, while the MAX14921 monitors up to 16 cells. Both devices simultaneously sample all cell voltages, allowing accurate state-of-charge and source-resistance determination. All cell voltages are level shifted to ground reference with unity gain, simplifying external ADC data conversion. The devices have a low-noise, low-offset amplifier that buffers differential voltages of up to +5V, allowing monitoring of all common lithium-ion (Li+) cell technologies. The resulting cell voltage error is ±0.5mV.The devices’ high accuracy make them ideal for monitoring cell chemistries with very flat discharge curves, such as lithium-metal phosphate.Passive-cell balancing is supported by external FET drivers. Integrated diagnostics in the devices allow open-wire detection and undervoltage/overvoltage alarms. The devices are controlled by a daisy-chainable SPI interface. The MAX14920 is available in a 64-pin (10mm x 10mm) TQFP package with an exposed pad. LTC3106IFE#TRPBF

Analog Devices Inc.
The LTC3106 is a highly integrated, ultralow voltage buck-boost DC/DC converter with automatic PowerPath management optimized for multisource, low power systems. At no load, the LTC3106 draws only 1.6μA while creating an output voltage up to 5V from either input source. If the primary power source is unavailable, the LTC3106 seamlessly switches to the backup power source. The LTC3106 is compatible with either rechargeable or primary cell batteries and can trickle charge a backup battery whenever there is an energy surplus available. Optional maximum power point control ensures power transfer is optimized between power source and load. The output voltage and backup voltage, VSTORE, are programmed digitally, reducing the required number of external components. Zero power Shelf Mode ensures that the backup battery will remain charged if left connected to the LTC3106 for an extended time.Additional features include an accurate turn-on voltage, a power good indicator for VOUT, a user selectable 100mA peak current limit setting for lower power applications, thermal shutdown as well as user selectable backup power and output voltages.Applications Wireless Sensor Networks Home or Office Building Automation Energy Harvesting Remote Sensors

MAX14690CEWX+T

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX14690 is a battery-charge-management solution ideal for low-power wearable applications. The device includes a linear battery charger with a smart power selector and several power-optimized peripherals. The MAX14690 features two ultra-low-power buck regulators with a typical quiescent current of 900nA. In addition, three ultra-low power low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators, with a typical quiescent current of 600nA are included. In total, the MAX14690 can provide up to five regulated voltages, each with an ultra-low quiescent current, critical to battery life for the unique power profile in 24/7 operation devices, such as those in the wearable market. The battery charger features a smart power selector that allows operation on a dead battery when connected to a power source. To avoid overloading a power adapter, the input current to the smart power selector is limited based on an I2C register setting. If the charger power source is unable to supply the entire system load, the smart power control circuit supplements the system load with current from the battery. The two synchronous, high-efficiency step-down buck regulators feature a fixed-frequency PWM mode for tighter regulation and a burst mode for increased efficiency during light-load operation. The output voltage of these regulators can be programmed through I2C with the default preconfigured. The three configurable LDOs each have a dedicated input pin. Each LDO regulator output voltage can be programmed through I2C with the default preconfigured. The linear regulators can also be configured to operate as power switches that may be used to disconnect the quiescent load of the system peripherals. The MAX14690 features a programmable power controller that allows the device to be configured for applications that require the device be in a true-off, or always-on, state. The controller also provides a delayed reset signal and voltage sequencing. The MAX14690 is available in a 36-bump, 0.4mm pitch, 2.72mm x 2.47mm wafer-level package (WLP).ApplicationsFitness MonitorsPortable Medical DevicesWearable Electronics
