The LTC2953 is a push button On/Off controller that manages system power via a push button interface. An enable output toggles system power while an interrupt output provides debounced push button status. The interrupt output can be used in menu driven applications to request a system power down. The LTC2953 also features input and output power supply monitors. An uncommitted power fail comparator provides real time input monitor information, while a de-glitched under voltage lockout comparator gracefully initiates a system power down. The under voltage lockout comparator prevents the system from powering from a low power supply. The adjustable supply monitor input is compared against an accurate internal 0.5V reference. The reset output remains low until the supply monitor input has been in compliance for 200ms. The LTC2953 operates over a wide 2.7V to 27V input voltage range and draws only 14µA of current. Two versions of the part accommodate either positive or negative enable polarities. The MAX8833 high-efficiency, dual step-down regulator is capable of delivering up to 3A at each output. The device operates from a 2.35V to 3.6V supply, and provides output voltages from 0.6V to 0.9 x VIN, making it ideal for on-board point-of-load applications. Total output error is less than ±1% over load, line, and temperature. The MAX8833 operates in PWM mode with a switching frequency ranging from 0.5MHz to 2MHz, set by an external resistor. It can also be synchronized to an external clock in the same frequency range. Two internal switching regulators operate 180° out-of-phase to reduce the input ripple current, and consequently reduce the required input capacitance. The high operating frequency minimizes the size of external components. High efficiency, internal dual-nMOS design keeps the board cool under heavy loads. The voltage-mode control architecture and the high-bandwidth (> 15MHz typ) voltage-error amplifier allow a type III compensation scheme to be utilized to achieve fast response under both line and load transients, and also allow for ceramic output capacitors.Programmable soft-start reduces input inrush current. Two enable inputs allow the turning on/off of each output individually, resulting in great flexibility for system-level designs. A reference input is provided to facilitate output-voltage tracking applications. The MAX8833 is available in a 32-pin thin QFN (5mm x 5mm) package with 0.8mm max height.ApplicationsASIC/CPU/DSP Power SuppliesDDR Power SuppliesNetwork Power SuppliesPrinter Power SuppliesSet-Top Box Power Supplies

MAX6620ATI+T
Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX6620 controls the speeds of up to four fans using four independent linear voltage outputs. The drive voltages for the fans are controlled directly over the I²C interface. Each output drives the base of an external bipolar transistor or the gate of a FET in high-side drive configuration. Voltage feedback at the fan's power-supply terminal is used to force the correct output voltage. The MAX6620 offers two methods for fan control. In RPM mode, the MAX6620 monitors four fan tachometer logic outputs for precise (±1%) control of fan RPM and detection of fan failure. In DAC mode, each fan is driven with a voltage resolution of 9 bits and the tachometer outputs of the fans are monitored for failure. The DAC_START input selects the fan power-supply voltage at startup to ensure appropriate fan drive when power is first applied. A watchdog feature turns the fans fully on to protect the system if there are no valid I²C communications within a preset timeout period. The MAX6620 operates from a 3.0V to 5.5V power supply with low 250µA supply current, and the I²C-compatible interface makes it ideal for fan control in a wide range of cooling applications. The MAX6620 is available in a 28-pin TQFN package and operates over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.ApplicationsCommunications EquipmentConsumer ProductsServersStorage Equipment

MAX8625AETD+T
Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX8625A PWM step-up/down regulator is intended to power digital logic, hard disk drives, motors, and other loads in portable, battery-powered devices such as PDAs, cell phones, digital still cameras (DSCs), and MP3 players. The MAX8625A provides either a fixed 3.3V or adjustable output voltage (1.25V to 4V) at up to 0.8A from a 2.5V to 5.5V input. The MAX8625A utilizes a 2A peak current limit.Maxim's H-bridge topology provides a seamless transition through all operating modes without the glitches commonly seen with other devices. Four internal MOSFETs (two switches and two synchronous rectifiers) with internal compensation minimize external components. An active-low SKIP input selects a low-noise, fixed-frequency PWM mode, or a high-efficiency skip mode where the converter automatically switches to PFM mode under light loads for best light-load efficiency. The internal oscillator operates at 1MHz to allow for a small external inductor and capacitors. The MAX8625A features current-limit circuitry that shuts down the IC in the event of an output overload. In addition, soft-start circuitry reduces inrush current during startup. The IC also features True Shutdown™, which disconnects the output from the input when the IC is disabled. The MAX8625A is available in a 3mm x 3mm, 14-pin TDFN package.ApplicationsBattery-Powered Hard Disk Drive (HDD)DSCs and CamcordersMP3 Players and Cellular PhonesPDAs and Smartphones
