The AD8280 is a hardware-only safety monitor for lithium ionbattery stacks. The device has inputs to monitor six battery cellsand two temperature sensors (either NTC or PTC thermistors).The device is designed to be daisy-chained with additional AD8280devices to monitor a stack of significantly more than six cellswithout the need for numerous isolators. The output can beconfigured for an independent or shared alarm state.The AD8280 functions independently from a primarymonitor and contains a reference and LDO, both of which arepowered completely from the battery cell stack. The reference, inconjunction with external resistor dividers, establishes trip pointsfor the overvoltages and undervoltages. Each cell channel containsprogrammable deglitching circuitry to prevent alarms fromtransient input levels.The AD8280 also has two digital pins that can select variouscombinations of inputs in the case where fewer than six cells areto be monitored. Most important, it has a self-test feature, makingit suitable for high reliability applications, such as automotivehybrid electric vehicles or higher voltage industrial usage, such asuninterruptible power supplies. The LTC4245 Hot Swap? controller allows a board to be safely inserted and removed from a live backplane in multiple supply systems such as CompactPCI and PCI Express. Using four external N-channel pass transistors, the board supply voltages can be ramped up at an adjustable rate and in any desired sequence. An I2C interface and on-board ADC allow monitoring of board current, voltage and fault status for each supply.The device features adjustable dI/dt controlled soft start and foldback limited inrush current. A dual-level timed circuit breaker and fast current limit protect each supply against overcurrent faults. A power good input with timeout allows a downstream supply monitor to disconnect the board supplies. The LTC3612 is a low quiescent current monolithic synchronous buck regulator using a current mode, constant frequency architecture. The no-load DC supply current in sleep mode is only 70?A while maintaining the output voltage (Burst Mode operation) at no load, dropping to zero current in shutdown. The 2.25V to 5.5V input supply voltage range makes the LTC3612 ideally suited for single Li-Ion as well as fixed low voltage input applications. 100% duty cycle capability provides low dropout operation, extending the operating time in battery-powered systems.The operating frequency is externally programmable up to 4MHz, allowing the use of small surface mount inductors. For switching noise-sensitive applications, the LTC3612 can be synchronized to an external clock at up to 4MHz.Forced continuous mode operation in the LTC3612 reduces noise and RF interference. The LT3663 is a current mode step-down switching regulator with programmable output current limit. The current limit accurately controls the system power dissipation and reduces the size of the power path components. Demonstration circuit 1352A is a low quiescent current, dual output 2-phase, synchronous buck converter demo board featuring the LTC3857EGN-1 or LTC3858EGN-1. It features a 4.5V to 36V input voltage range and provides 3.3V / 5A and 8.5V / 3A outputs. Two versions of the board are available. The DC-1352A-A is for the LTC3857EGN-1, which offers lower quiescent current and smaller burst mode ripple, while the DC1352A-B is for the LTC3858EGN-1 which offers latch-off protection and increased burst mode efficiency.

Demonstration circuit DC1297B features the LTM4612EV, an EN55022 Class B certified synchronous step-down power module. The board accepts an input voltage from 5V to 36V and delivers a jumper programmable output voltage of 3.3V, 5V or 12V. The rated load current is 5A for 3.3V and 5V output voltages, or 3A for a 12V output. Current derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, and thermal conditions.

Demonstration circuit SCP-LT3483-EVALZ is an inverting converter featuring the LT3483ES6. The converter generates –15V at 8mA to 40mA from a 2.7–12V input using a dual coupled inductor in an inverting flyback topology. Like all boards in the Signal Chain Power series, this board is designed to be easily plugged into other SCP boards to form a complete signal chain power system, enabling fast evaluation of low power signal chains.
