MAX16998AAUA+
Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX16997/MAX16998 are microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuits for high-input-voltage and low-quiescent-current applications. These devices detect downstream circuit failures and provide switchover to redundant circuitry. See the Selector Guide in the full data sheet for the different versions of this product family. The MAX16997/MAX16998 family has four independent inputs for reset and watchdog functions. SWT and SRT inputs independently set the timeout periods of watchdog and reset timers through external capacitors. RESETIN/EN monitor voltages at respective inputs. A resistive voltage-divider sets the reset threshold. The MAX16998A/B/D generate two output signals, active-low RESET and active-low ENABLE. Active-low RESET asserts whenever RESETIN drops below its threshold voltage or when the watchdog timer detects a timing fault at WDI. Once asserted, and after all reset conditions are removed, active-low RESET remains low for the reset timeout period, tRESET, and then goes high. The MAX16997A generates one output signal (active-low ENABLE) based on the voltage level at EN and the signal at WDI.The MAX16997A does not have a active-low RESET output. The watchdog is disabled if the voltage at EN is below its threshold. The MAX16997A watchdog timer starts timing when the voltage at EN becomes higher than the preset threshold voltage level. Each time EN rises above the preset threshold voltage, the initial watchdog timeout period is 8 times the normal watchdog timeout period (tWP).The MAX16997/MAX16998 are available in 8-pin lead-free µMAX® packages and are fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.ApplicationsAutomotiveIndustrial

The MAX16999 linear regulator operates from a 2.5V to 5.5V input voltage and delivers 100mA continuous load current with a low quiescent current typically around 13µA. The output voltage is preset to internally trimmed voltages in the 0.5V to 3.3V range (see the Selector Guide in the full data sheet). An active-low, open-drain reset output remains low for a programmable timeout delay after the output voltage reaches regulation. The reset timeout is programmed by an external capacitor connected to CRES.This device also features logic-controlled shutdown, and short-circuit and thermal-overload protection. The typical applications are multimedia, telematics, and motor control microcontrollers (µCs) with always-on requirements. The MAX16999 is used as a parallel, low-quiescent supply to power the core or interrupt section of µCs during sleep mode. It can also be used to supply a timer or memory during µC shutoff. The adjustable POR delay assists with power-supply sequencing.ApplicationsHandheld/Portable DevicesIndustrialKeep-Alive TimersSDRAM Power Supplies

MAX17000ETG+
Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX17000 pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller provides a complete power solution for notebook DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 memory. It comprises a step-down controller, a source/sink LDO regulator, and a reference buffer to generate the required VDDQ, VTT, and VTTR rails. The VDDQ rail is supplied by a step-down converter using Maxim’s proprietary Quick-PWM™ controller. The high-efficiency, constant-on-time PWM controller handles wide input/output voltage ratios (low duty-cycle applications) with ease and provides 100ns response to load transients while maintaining a relatively constant switching frequency. The Quick-PWM architecture circumvents the poor load-transient timing problems of fixed-frequency current-mode PWMs while also avoiding the problems caused by widely varying switching frequencies in conventional constant-on-time and constant-off-time PWM schemes. The controller senses the current to achieve an accurate valley current-limit protection. It is also built in with overvoltage, undervoltage, and thermal protections. The MAX17000 can be set to run in three different modes: power-efficient SKIP mode, low-noise forced-PWM mode, and standby mode to support memory in notebook computer standby operation. The switching frequency is programmable from 200kHz to 600kHz to allow small components and high efficiency. The VDDQ output voltage can be set to a preset 1.8V or 1.5V, or be adjusted from 1.0V to 2.5V by an external resistor-divider. This output has 1% accuracy over line-and-load operating range. The MAX17000 includes a ±2A source/sink LDO regulator for the memory termination VTT rail. This VTT regulator has a ±5mV deadband that either sources or sinks, ideal for the fast-changing load burst present in memory termination applications. This feature also reduces output capacitance requirements. The VTTR reference buffer sources and sinks ±3mA, providing the reference voltage needed by the memory controller and devices on the memory bus.The MAX17000 is available in a 24-pin, 4mm x 4mm, TQFN package.ApplicationsDDR, DDR2, and DDR3 Memory SuppliesNotebook ComputersSSTL Memory Supplies

MAX6620ATI+T
Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX6620 controls the speeds of up to four fans using four independent linear voltage outputs. The drive voltages for the fans are controlled directly over the I²C interface. Each output drives the base of an external bipolar transistor or the gate of a FET in high-side drive configuration. Voltage feedback at the fan's power-supply terminal is used to force the correct output voltage. The MAX6620 offers two methods for fan control. In RPM mode, the MAX6620 monitors four fan tachometer logic outputs for precise (±1%) control of fan RPM and detection of fan failure. In DAC mode, each fan is driven with a voltage resolution of 9 bits and the tachometer outputs of the fans are monitored for failure. The DAC_START input selects the fan power-supply voltage at startup to ensure appropriate fan drive when power is first applied. A watchdog feature turns the fans fully on to protect the system if there are no valid I²C communications within a preset timeout period. The MAX6620 operates from a 3.0V to 5.5V power supply with low 250µA supply current, and the I²C-compatible interface makes it ideal for fan control in a wide range of cooling applications. The MAX6620 is available in a 28-pin TQFN package and operates over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.ApplicationsCommunications EquipmentConsumer ProductsServersStorage Equipment

DS4560S-AR+
Analog Devices Inc.
The DS4560 is a self-contained hot-plug switch intended to be used on +12V power buses to limit through current and to control the power-up output-voltage ramp. The device contains an on-board 25mΩ n-channel power MOSFET that is actively closed-loop controlled to ensure that an adjustable current limit is not exceeded. The maximum allowable current through the device is determined by an external resistor connected to the ILIM pin.The DS4560 also contains the ability to control the power-up output-voltage ramp. A capacitor connected to the VRAMP pin sets the desired voltage ramp rate. The output voltage is unconditionally clamped to keep input overvoltage stresses from harming the load. The DS4560 also contains an adjustable power-up timer. A capacitor connected to the TIMER pin determines how long after power-on reset the DS4560 should wait before starting to apply power to the load. The TIMER pin can also be driven with a digital logic output to create a device-enable function. The DS4560 contains an on-board temperature sensor with hysteresis. If operating conditions cause the device to exceed an internal thermal limit, the DS4560 either unconditionally shuts down and latches off awaiting a power-on reset (DS4560S-LO), or it waits until the device has cooled by the hysteresis amount and then restarts (DS4560S-AR).ApplicationsBase StationsInfiniBand™PCI/PCI Express®RAID/Hard DrivesServers/Routers
