The MAX31790 controls the speeds of up to six fans using six independent PWM outputs. The desired fan speeds (or PWM duty cycles) are written through the I²C interface. The outputs drive '4-wire' fans directly, or can be used to modulate the fan's power terminals using an external pass transistor.Tachometer inputs monitor fan tachometer logic outputs for precise (±1%) monitoring and control of fan RPM as well as detection of fan failure. Six pins are dedicated tachometer inputs. The MAX5969C/MAX5969E provide a complete interface for a powered device (PD) to comply with the IEEE® 802.3af/at standard in a power-over-Ethernet (PoE) system. The MAX5969C/MAX5969E provide the PD with a detection signature, classification signature, and an integrated isolation power switch with inrush current control. During the inrush period, the MAX5969C/MAX5969E limit the current to less than 180mA before switching to the higher current limit (720mA to 880mA) when the isolation power MOSFET is fully enhanced. The devices feature an input UVLO with wide hysteresis and long deglitch time to compensate for twisted-pair cable resistive drop and to assure glitch-free transition during power-on/-off conditions. The MAX5969C/MAX5969E can withstand up to 100V at the input.The MAX5969C/MAX5969E support a 2-Event classification method as specified in the IEEE 802.3at standard and provide a signal to indicate when probed by a Type 2 power sourcing equipment (PSE). The devices detect the presence of a wall adapter power source connection and allow a smooth switch over from the PoE power source to the wall power adaptor.The MAX5969C/MAX5969E also provide a power-good (PG) signal, two-step current limit and foldback, over-temperature protection, and di/dt limit. A sleep mode feature in the MAX5969C/MAX5969E provides low power consumption while supporting Maintain Power Signature (MPS). A green sleep mode feature in the MAX5969C/MAX5969E further reduces power consumption to comply with green power requirements while still supporting MPS. The MAX5969C/MAX5969E also feature an LED driver that is automatically activated during sleep mode or manually activated during normal operation. During sleep mode, the LED driver sources a periodic current (ILED) at 250Hz (MAX5969C) or 15.625kHz (MAX5969E).The MAX5969C/MAX5969E are available in a 16-pin, 5mm x 5mm TQFN power package. The MAX8969 is a simple 1A step-up converter in a small package that operates in any single-cell Li-ion application. This IC provides protection features such as input undervoltage lockout, short circuit, and overtemperature shutdown.The IC transitions to skip mode seamlessly under lightload conditions to improve efficiency. Under these conditions, switching occurs only as needed, reducing switching frequency and supply current to maintain high efficiency.For higher efficiency when input voltage is closer to the output voltage, two special modes of operation are available: track and automatic track. These modes allow users to balance quiescent current (IQ) vs. transient response time into boost mode. In both modes, the p-channel MOSFET acts as a current-limited switch such that VOUT follows VIN. However, in track mode, the boost circuits are disabled and the system controls the boost function with the EN, TREN inputs (IQ = 30µA). The MAX16936/MAX16938 are 2.5A current-mode step-down converters with integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs designed to operate with an external Schottky diode for better efficiency. The low-side MOSFET enables fixed-frequency forced-PWM (FPWM) operation under light-load applications. The devices operate with input voltages from 3.5V to 36V, while using only 28µA quiescent current at no load. The switching frequency is resistor programmable from 220kHz to 2.2MHz and can be synchronized to an external clock. The devices’ output voltage is available as 5V/3.3V fixed or adjustable from 1V to 10V. The wide input voltage range along with its ability to operate at 98% duty cycle during undervoltage transients make the devices ideal for automotive and industrial applications. Under light-load applications, the FSYNC logic input allows the devices to either operate in skip mode for reduced current consumption or fixed-frequency FPWM mode to eliminate frequency variation to minimize EMI. Fixed-frequency FPWM mode is extremely useful for power supplies designed for RF transceivers where tight emission control is necessary. Protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limit and thermal shutdown with automatic recovery.
