The MAX2235 low-voltage, silicon RF power amplifier (PA) is designed for use in the 900MHz frequency band. It operates directly from a single +2.7V to +5.5V supply, making it suitable for use with 3-cell NiCd or 1-cell Li-Ion batteries. The device delivers +30dBm (1W) typical output power from a +3.6V supply or +28dBm from a +2.7V supply.The MAX2235's gain is adjustable over a 37dB range. A power-control pin controls gain and bias to maintain optimum efficiency, even at lower output power levels, thus extending the operating life of the battery. At +30dBm output power, efficiency is typically 47%. An additional power-saving feature is a shutdown mode that typically reduces supply current below 1µA.A key feature of this PA is its autoramping capability. During turn-on and turn-off periods, the RF envelope is controlled to approximate a raised cosine on the rising and falling edge, thereby minimizing transient noise and spectral splatter. The ramp time is set by selecting the value of an external capacitor.The MAX2235 is intended for use in constant envelope applications such as AMPS, two-way paging, or FSK-based communications in the 900MHz ISM band. The MAX2601/MAX2602 are RF power transistors optimized for use in portable cellular and wireless equipment that operates from three NiCd/NiMH cells or one Li-Ion cell. These transistors deliver 1W of RF power from a 3.6V supply with efficiency of 58% when biased for constant-envelope applications (e.g., FM or FSK). For NADC (IS-54) operation, they deliver 29dBm with -28dBc ACPR from a 4.8V supply.The MAX2601 is a high-performance silicon bipolar RF power transistor. The MAX2602 includes a high-performance silicon bipolar RF power transistor, and a biasing diode that matches the thermal and process characteristics of the power transistor. This diode is used to create a bias network that accurately controls the power transistor’s collector current as the temperature changes.The MAX2601/MAX2602 can be used as the final stage in a discrete or module power amplifier. Silicon bipolar technology eliminates the need for voltage inverters and sequencing circuitry, as required by GaAsFET power amplifiers. Furthermore, a drain switch is not required to turn off the MAX2601/MAX2602. The MAX1473 fully integrated low-power CMOS superheterodyne receiver is ideal for receiving amplitude-shift-keyed (ASK) data in the 300MHz to 450MHz frequency range. Its signal range is from -114dBm to 0dBm. With few external components and a low-current power-down mode, it is ideal for cost- and power-sensitive applications typical in the automotive and consumer markets. The chip consists of a low-noise amplifier (LNA), a fully differential image-rejection mixer, an on-chip phase-locked-loop (PLL) with integrated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a 10.7MHz IF limiting amplifier stage with received-signal-strength indicator (RSSI), and analog baseband data-recovery circuitry. The MAX1473 also has a discrete one-step automatic gain control (AGC) that drops the LNA gain by 35dB when the RF input signal is greater than -57dBm.The MAX1473 is available in 28-pin TSSOP and 32-pin thin QFN packages. The MAX7030 crystal-based, fractional-N transceiver is designed to transmit and receive ASK/OOK data at factory-preset carrier frequencies of 315MHz or 433.92MHz with data rates up to 33kbps (Manchester encoded) or 66kbps (NRZ encoded). This device generates a typical output power of +10dBm into a 50Ω load and exhibits typical sensitivity of -114dBm. The MAX7030 features separate transmit and receive pins (PAOUT and LNAIN) and provides an internal RF switch that can be used to connect the transmit and receive pins to a common antenna.The MAX7030 transmit frequency is generated by a 16-bit, fractional-N, phase-locked loop (PLL), while the receiver's local oscillator (LO) is generated by an integer-N PLL. This hybrid architecture eliminates the need for separate transmit and receive crystal reference oscillators because the fractional-N PLL is preset to be 10.7MHz above the receive LO. Retaining the fixed-N PLL for the receiver avoids the higher current-drain requirements of a fractional-N PLL and keeps the receiver current drain as low as possible.
