AD8310-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8310 is a complete, dc to 440 MHz demodulating logarithmic amplifier (log amp) with a very fast voltage mode output, capable of driving up to 25 mA into a grounded load in under 15 ns. It uses the progressive compression (successive detection) technique to provide a dynamic range of up to 95 dB to ?3 dB law conformance or 90 dB to a ?1 dB error bound up to 100 MHz. It is extremely stable and easy to use, requiring no significant external components. A single-supply voltage of 2.7 V to 5.5 V at 8 mA is needed, corresponding to a power consumption of only 24 mW at 3 V. A fast-acting CMOS-compatible enable pin is provided. Each of the six cascaded amplifier/limiter cells has a small-signal gain of 14.3 dB, with a ?3 dB bandwidth of 900 MHz. A total of nine detector cells are used to provide a dynamic range that extends from ?91 dBV (where 0 dBV is defined as the amplitude of a 1 V rms sine wave), an amplitude of about ?40 ?V, up to +4 dBV (or ?2.2 V). The demodulated output is accurately scaled, with a log slope of 24 mV/dB and an intercept of ?108 dBV. The scaling parameters are supply- and temperature-independent.The fully differential input offers a moderately high impedance (1 k? in parallel with about 1 pF). A simple network can match the input to 50 ? and provide a power sensitivity of ?78 dBm to +17 dBm. The logarithmic linearity is typically within ?0.4 dB up to 100 MHz over the central portion of the range, but it is somewhat greater at 440 MHz. There is no minimum frequency limit; the AD8310 can be used down to low audio frequencies. Special filtering features are provided to support this wide range. The output voltage runs from a noise-limited lower boundary of 400 mV to an upper limit within 200 mV of the supply voltage for light loads. The slope and intercept can be readily altered using external resistors. The output is tolerant of a wide variety of load conditions and is stable with capacitive loads of 100 pF.The AD8310 provides a unique combination of low cost, small size, low power consumption, high accuracy and stability, high dynamic range, a frequency range encompassing audio to UHF, fast response time, and good load-driving capabilities, making this product useful in numerous applications that require the reduction of a signal to its decibel equivalent. The AD8310 is available in the industrial temperature range of ?40?C to +85?C in an 8-lead MSOP package.Applications Conversion of signal level to decibel form Transmitter antenna power measurement Receiver signal strength indication (RSSI) Low cost radar and sonar signal processing Network and spectrum analyzers Signal-level determination down to 20 Hz True-decibel ac mode for multimeters

AD8319-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8319 is a demodulating logarithmic amplifier, capable of accurately converting an RF input signal to a corresponding decibel-scaled output. It employs the progressive compression technique over a cascaded amplifier chain, each stage of which is equipped with a detector cell. The device can be used in either measurement or controller modes. The AD8319 maintains accurate log conformance for signals of 1 MHz to 8 GHz and provides useful operation to 10 GHz. The input dynamic range is typically 40 dB (re: 50 ?) with error less than ?1 dB. The AD8319 has 8 ns/10 ns response time (fall time/rise time) that enables RF burst detection to a pulse rate of beyond 50 MHz. The device provides unprecedented logarithmic intercept stability vs. ambient temperature conditions. A supply of 3.0 V to 5.5 V is required to power the device. Current consumption is typically 22 mA, and it decreases to 200 ?A when the device is disabled.?The AD8319 can be configured to provide a control voltage to a power amplifier or a measurement output from the VOUT pin. Because the output can be used for controller applications, special attention was paid to minimize wideband noise. In this mode, the setpoint control voltage is applied to the VSET pin.The feedback loop through an RF amplifier is closed via VOUT, the output of which regulates the amplifier?s output to a magnitude corresponding to VSET. The AD8319 provides 0 V to (VPOS ? 0.1 V) output capability at the VOUT pin, suitable for controller applications. As a measurement device, VOUT is externally connected to VSET to produce an output voltage, VOUT, that is a decreasing linear-in-dB function of the RF input signal amplitude. The logarithmic slope is ?22 mV/dB, determined by the VSET interface. The intercept is 15 dBm (re: 50 ?, CW input) using the INHI input. These parameters are very stable against supply and temperature variations. The AD8319 is fabricated on a SiGe bipolar IC process and is available in a 2 mm ? 3 mm, 8-lead LFCSP_VD for an operating temperature range of ?40?C to +85?C.ApplicationsRF transmitter PA setpoint controls and level monitoring Power monitoring in radiolink transmitters RSSI measurement in base stations, WLANs, WiMAX, and radars

AD8333-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8333 is a dual-phase shifter and I/Q demodulator that enables coherent summing and phase alignment of multiple analog data channels. It is the first solid-state device suitable forbeamformer circuits, such as those used in high performance medical ultrasound equipment featuring CW Doppler. The RF inputs interface directly with the outputs of the dual-channel, low noise preamplifiers included in the?AD8332.A divide-by-4 circuit generates the internal 0? and 90? phases of the local oscillator (LO) that drive the mixers of a pair of matched I/Q demodulators. The AD8333 can be applied as a major element in analog beamformer circuits in medical ultrasound equipment. The AD8333 features an asynchronous reset pin. When used in arrays, the reset pin sets all the LO dividers in the same state. Sixteen discrete phase rotations in 22.5? increments can be selected independently for each channel. For example, if Channel 1 is used as a reference and the RF signal applied to Channel 2 has an I/Q phase lead of 45?, Channel 2 can be phase aligned with Channel 1 by choosing the correct code.Phase shift is defined by the output of one channel relative to another. For example, if the code of Channel 1 is adjusted to 0000 and that of Channel 2 to 0001 and the same signal is applied to both RF inputs, the output of Channel 2 leads that of Channel 1 by 22.5?.The I and Q outputs are provided as currents to facilitate summation. The summed current outputs are converted to voltages by a high dynamic-range, current-to-voltage (I-V) converter, such as the AD8021, configured as a transimpedance amplifier. The resultant signal is then applied to a high resolution ADC, such as the AD7665 (16 bit/570 kSPS).The two I/Q demodulators can be used independently in other nonbeamforming applications. In that case, a transimpedance amplifier is needed for each of the I and Q outputs, four in total for the dual I/Q demodulator. The dynamic range is 159 dB/Hz at each I and Q output, but the following transimpedance amplifier is an important element in maintaining the overall dynamic range, and attention needs to be paid to optimal component selection and design. The AD8333 is available in a 32-lead LFCSP (5 mm ? 5 mm) package for the industrial temperature range of ?40?C to +85?C.Applications Medical imaging (CW ultrasound beamforming) Phased array systems (radar and adaptive antennas) Communication receivers

AD8556-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8556 is a zero-drift, sensor signal amplifier withdigitally programmable gain and output offset. Designed toeasily and accurately convert variable pressure sensor andstrain bridge outputsto a well-defined output voltage range, the AD8556 accurately amplifies many other differential orsingle-ended sensor outputs. The AD8556 uses the ADIpatented low noise auto-zero and DigiTrim? technologies tocreate an incredibly accurate and flexible signal processingsolution in a very compact footprint.Gain is digitally programmable in a wide range from 70 to1,280 through a serial data interface. Gain adjustment canbe fully simulated in-circuit and then permanently programmedwith reliable polyfuse technology. Output offsetvoltage is also digitally programmable and is ratiometric to thesupply voltage. AD8556 also features internal EMI filters on theVNEG, VPOS, FILT and VCLAMP pins.In addition to extremely low input offset voltage, low inputoffset voltage drift, and very high dc and ac CMRR, the AD8556 also includes a pull-up current source at the input pinsand a pull-down current source at the VCLAMP pin. Thisallows open wire and shorted wire fault detection. A low-passfilter function is implemented via a single low cost externalcapacitor. Output clamping set via an external reference voltageallows the AD8556 to drive lower voltage ADCs safely andaccurately. When used in conjunction with an ADC referenced to the samesupply, the system accuracy becomes immune to normal supplyvoltage variations. Output offset voltage can be adjusted with aresolution of better than 0.4% of the difference between VDDand VSS. A lockout trim after gain and offset adjustmentfurther ensures field reliability. The AD8556 is fully specified from ?40?C to +140?C.Operating from single-supply voltages of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, theAD8556 is offered in the 8-lead SOIC_N, and 4 mm ? 4 mm16-lead LFCSP_VQ.ApplicationsAutomotive SensorsPressure and Position SensorsPrecision Current SensingStrain Gages

AD9083EBZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD9083 is a 16-channel, 125 MHz bandwidth, continuous time ?-? (CTSD) ADC. The device features an on-chip, programmable, single-pole antialiasing filter and termination resistor that is designed for low power, small size, and ease of use. The 16 ADC cores features a first-order, CTSD modulator architecture with integrated, background nonlinearity correction logic and self cancelling dither. Each ADC features wide bandwidth inputs supporting a variety of user-selectable input ranges. An integrated voltage reference eases design considerations. The analog input and clock signals are differential inputs. Each ADC has a signal processing tile to filter out of band shaped noise from the ?-? ADC and reduce the sample rate. Each tile contains a cascaded integrator comb (CIC) filter, a quadrature digital downconverter (DDC) with multiple finite input response (FIR) decimation filters (decimate by J block), or up to three quadrature DDC channels with averaging decimation filters for data gating applications. Users can configure the Subclass 1 JESD204B based, high speed serialized output in a variety of lane configurations (up to four), depending on the DDC configuration and the acceptable lane rate of the receiving logic device. Multiple device synchronization is supported through the SYSREF?, TRIG?, and SYNCINB? input pins. The AD9083 has flexible power-down options that allow significant power savings when desired. All of these features can be programmed using a 1.8 V capable 3-wire serial port interface (SPI). The AD9083 is available in a Pb-free, 100-ball CSP_BGA and is specified over the ?40?C to +85?C industrial temperature range. This product is protected by a US patent.APPLICATIONS Millimeter wave imaging Electronic beam forming and phased arrays Multichannel wideband receivers Electronic support measuresPRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS Continuous time, ?-? analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) support signal bandwidths of up to 125 MHz with low power and minimal filtering.
