Demonstration Circuit 1396A is an I2C-controlled, high-efficiency USB/5V Powered 1A Li-Ion battery charger/manager with the control hooks for an external HV battery-tracking step-down controller (LT3480 is recommended). The Input current is automatically limited for USB compatibility.  The DC1396's input voltage ranges from 4.35V to 5.5V, and the device provides overvoltage protection from up to 30V. The device features a CC/CV linear charger with a 4.2V charge voltage, C/x detection and timer termination.

LTM4680EY | Dual 30A or Single 60A μModule Regulator with Digital Power System Management

Demonstration circuit 2845A features the LTM4680, which is a dual 30A or single 60A μModule® regulator with 4.5V to 16V input range. The two channels of the LTM4680 are paralleled on this board, so it can deliver 60A maximum load current. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.5V to 3.3V. Please see LTM4680 data sheet for more detailed information. DC2845A powers up to default settings and produces power based on configuration resistors without the need for any serial bus communication. This allows easy evaluation of the DC/DC converter. To fully explore the extensive power system management features of the part, download the GUI software LTpowerPlay® onto your PC and use ADI I2C/SMBus/PMBus dongle DC1613A to connect to the board. LTpowerPlay allows the user to reconfigure the part on-the-fly and store the configuration in EEPROM, view telemetry of voltage, current, temperature and fault status. LTM4670 | Low VIN, Quad μModule Regulator with Configurable 10A Output Array Step-Down Regulator

Demonstration circuit 2891A features the LTM4670EY, a high efficiency, quad 10A step-down power μModule® regulator. The input voltage range is from 2.25V to 5.5V. The output voltage range is 0.5V to VIN. Derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, frequency and thermal conditions. The DC2891A offers the SSTT pin allowing the user to program output tracking, soft-start period and die temperature monitoring. The MODE/SYNC pin either synchronizes the switching frequency to an external clock, is a clock output, or sets the PWM mode. The PWM modes of operation are forced continues mode for low noise or pulse-skipping mode for high efficiency at light load. The LTM4670 defaults to forced continues mode in regulation and during synchronization. The LTM4670 operates in pulse-skipping mode when both the FREQ and MODE/SYNC pins are connected to VIN. DC2891A has optional jumper resistors to parallel multiple LTM4670 channels. For paralleled channels, one channel can be set as master, and the rest can be set as slaves. The phase shift of a slave channel relative to the master channel can be programmed with a resistor divider on the FREQ pin. For DC2891A, four channels of LTM4670 are working separately and all set as master. A multiphase oscillator LTC6902 is used to set 90-degree phase shift between adjacent phases and reduce the amount of ripple current in both the input and output capacitors. The LTM4670 data sheet must be read in conjunction with the demo manual prior to working on or modifying demo circuit DC2891A.

Evaluating the ADP8860 Charge Pump, 7-Channel Smart LED Driver with I2C Interface

The ADP8860SHIELD-EVALZ and the ADP8861SHIELD-EVALZ incorporate light emitting diodes (LEDs) for quick and easy evaluation of the ADP8860 and the ADP8861. Note that only the ADP8860SHIELD-EVALZ has dual light intensity sensors. The ADP8860SHIELD-EVALZ and the ADP8861SHIELD-EVALZ follow the form factor of a regular Arduino® shield to allow compatibility with microcontroller boards that use the same interface. These evaluation boards also incorporate a separate header dedicated to I2C communications. The ADP8860 and the ADP8861 are 7-channel LED drivers that utilizes a charge pump with selective gain for maximum efficiency. The LEDs driven by either device are programmable for maximum current and fade in and out times via the I2C interface. Only the ADP8860 has a programable light intensity threshold that can be set via the I2C interface of the device. Each channel can handle up to 30 mA (typical), except for the seventh channel, which can handle 60 mA (typical). Each channel can be unified to have the same fade in time and fade out time, or each channel can have an individual fade in time and fade out time for greater flexibility. Demonstration circuit DC1256A is a single-battery standalone battery charger that can support any version ofthe LTC4012 family of parts. The LTC4012 family of charge controller IC’s do not support charge termination for any specific battery chemistry. Any charger termination, if necessary, is accomplished outside the LTC4012 with the most common method using a microcontroller. The DC1256A is shipped with the LTC4012-2 installed,which is optimized for Li-ion charge applications using a 4.2V/cell float voltage.The charger output voltage is programmed by jumpers to support 1, 2, 3 and 4 series stack Li-ion batteries. The input voltage is can be between 6V and 20V with the maximum voltage of the Demo Board design limited by the input capacitor voltage ratings. To reach full charge,the minimum input voltage must be greater than the float voltage setting.
