The HMC832A is a 3.3 V, high performance, wideband, fractional-N, phase-locked loop (PLL) that features an integrated voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with a fundamental frequency of 1500 MHz to 3000 MHz and an integrated VCO output divider (divide by 1, 2, 4, 6, ? 62) that enables the HMC832A to generate continuous frequencies from 25 MHz to 3000 MHz. The LT5528 is a direct I/Q modulator designed for high performance wireless applications, including wireless infrastructure. It allows direct modulation of an RF signal using differential baseband I and Q signals. It supports PHS, GSM, EDGE, TD-SCDMA, CDMA, CDMA2000, W-CDMA and other systems. It may also be con? gured as an image reject up-converting mixer, by applying 90? phase-shifted signals to the I and Q inputs. The I/Q baseband inputs consist of voltage-to-current converters that in turn drive double-balanced mixers. The outputs of these mixers are summed and applied to an on-chip RF transformer, which converts the differential mixer signals to a 50? single-ended output. The four balanced I and Q baseband input ports are intended for DC coupling from a? source with a common-mode voltage level of about 0.5V. The LO path consists of an LO buffer with single-ended input, and precision quadrature generators that produce the LO drive for the mixers. The HMC439QS16G(E) is a digital phase-frequency detector intended for use in low noise phase-locked loop applications for inputs from 10 to 1300 MHz. Its combination of high frequency of operation along with its ultra low phase noise floor make possible synthesizers with wide loop bandwidth and low N resulting in fast switching and very low phase noise. When used in conjunction with a differential loop amplifier, the HMC439QS16G(E) generate output voltages that can be used to phase lock a VCO to a reference oscillator. Demonstration circuit DC2343A is a complete system level solution for a nanopower buck-boost DC/DC with integrated coulomb counter. The DC2343A contains a PIC16F1459 embedded processor for communication to the PC over USB and the LTC3335 via its I2C port. The GUI is capable of reading and writing all the control registers on the LTC3335 as well as displaying and resetting all its alarm registers. The firmware and software for the embedded system and the GUI are available at the LTC3335 solutions page. The DC2343A uses two analog-to-digital converter channels to sample the battery and output voltages. The voltage samples improve the functionality of the GUI, and allow optimal software correction to the measured coulombs. By adding the software correction the first order known errors are compensated for over the operating range and the resultant coulomb count is accurate to within 3%.
