18V, 10A Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switcher 2

Demonstration circuit 2560A is a 18V, 10A synchronous step-down Silent Switcher®2 with spread spectrum frequency modulation featuring the LT8642S. The demo board is designed for 1.2V output from a 2.8V to 18V input. The LT8642S is a compact, ultralow emission, high efficiency, and high speed synchronous monolithic step-down switching regulator. The integrated bypass capacitors optimize all the fast current loops and make it easier to minimize EMI/EMC emissions by reducing layout sensitivity. Selectable spread spectrum mode can further improve EMI/EMC performance. Fast minimum on-time of 20ns enables high VIN to low VOUT conversion at high frequency. The LT8642S switching frequency can be programmed either via a resistor or external clock over a 200kHz to 3MHz range. The default frequency of demo circuit 2560A is 2MHz. The SYNC pin on the demo board is grounded (JP1 at BURST position) by default for low ripple Burst Mode® operation. To synchronize to an external clock, move JP1 to SYNC and apply the external clock to the SYNC terminal. Spread spectrum mode and forced continuous mode can be selected respectively by moving JP1 shunt. The demo board has an EMI filter installed. This EMI filter can be included by applying the input voltage at the VIN_ EMI terminal. The LT8642S data sheet gives a complete description of the part, operation and application information. The data sheet must be read in conjunction with this demo manual for demo circuit 2560A. The LT8643S is assembled in a 4mm × 4mm LQFN package with exposed pads for low thermal resistance. The layout recommendations for low EMI operation and maximum thermal performance are available in the data sheet section Low EMI PCB Layout and Thermal Considerations.

The DC2574A-KIT includes all components required for stand-alone operation except for a power supply and load. The DC2574A-KIT operates with any USB compatible power supply and any load compatible with the LTC2947.

The LTC1955 provides all necessary supervisory and power control functions for two smart cards, two S.A.M. cards or a combination of S.A.M. and smart cards. It provides a charge pump for battery-powered applications as well as all necessary level shifting circuitry.The card voltages can be independently set to 1.8V, 3V or 5V. Both card interfaces include a card detection channel with automatic debounce circuitry. To reduce wiring costs, the LTC1955 interfaces to a microcontroller via a simple 4-wire serial interface. Multiple devices may be connected in daisychain fashion so that the number of wires to the card socket board is independent of the number of sockets. Status data is returned over the same interface.Extensive security features ensure proper deactivation sequencing in the event of a supply fault or a smart card electrical fault. Demonstration circuit 524 is a positive input to negative output converter featuring the LTC3704 switching controller. The DC524 converts a 5V to 15V input to a –5.2V output and provides up to 2.5A of output current from 5V input. The converter operates at 300kHz with a high efficiency of 89%. The DC524 is set to operate in No RSENSE™ mode with input voltages up to 15V. However, DC524 can be modified for higher input voltages with an optional current sense resistor. The circuit features optional soft-start circuitry that can be enabled or disabled with a single jumper. Also, DC524 has a jumper to program either continuous or Burst Mode™ operation. The DC524 can be synchronized to an external clock of up to 400kHz.

The LT3435 is a 500kHz monolithic buck switching regulator that accepts input voltages up to 60V. A high efficiency 3A, 0.1? switch is included on the die along with all the necessary oscillator, control and logic circuitry. Current mode topology is used for fast transient response and good loop stability.Innovative design techniques along with a new high voltage process achieve high efficiency over a wide input range. Efficiency is maintained over a wide output current range by employing Burst Mode operation at low currents, utilizing the output to bias the internal circuitry, and by using a supply boost capacitor to fully saturate the power switch. Patented circuitry maintains peak switch current over the full duty cycle range.* Shutdown reduces input supply current to less than 1?A. External synchronization can be implemented by driving the SYNC pin with logic-level inputs. A single capacitor from the CSS pin to the output provides a controlled output voltage ramp (soft-start).
