The MAX3157 is a high CMRR RS-485/RS-422 data-communications interface providing ±50V isolation in a hybrid microcircuit. A single +5V supply on the logic side powers both sides of the interface, with external ±50V capacitors transferring power from the logic side to the isolated side. Each MAX3157 contains one transmitter and one receiver and is guaranteed to operate at data rates up to 250kbps. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic high receiver output if the inputs are open, shorted, or connected to a terminated transmission line with all drivers disabled.The MAX3157 typically draws 25mA of supply current when unloaded or when fully loaded with the driver disabled. Supply current drops to 25µA when the device is placed in shutdown mode. The device is pin selectable between half- and full-duplex mode and also features independently programmable receiver and transmitter output phase through separate pins. The MAX3157 is a low-cost replacement for opto-isolated transceivers. Disabling slew-rate limiting allows these devices to transmit at data rates up to 10Mbps in RS-485/422 mode and up to 1Mbps in RS-232 mode. The MAX3160/MAX3162 offer a flow-through pinout that facilitates board layout. The MAX6950/MAX6951 are compact common-cathode display drivers that interface microprocessors to individual 7-segment numeric LED digits, bar graph, or discrete LEDs through an SPI™-, QSPI™-, MICROWIRE™-compatible serial interface. The supply voltage can be as low as 2.7V.The MAX6950 drives up to five 7-segment digits or 40 discrete LEDs. The MAX6951 drives up to eight 7-segment digits or 64 discrete LEDs.Included on-chip are hexadecimal character decoders (0-9, A-F), multiplex scan circuitry, segment and digit drivers, and a static RAM that stores each digit. The user may select hexadecimal decoding or no-decode for each digit to allow any mix of 7-segment digits, bar graph, or discrete LEDs to be driven. The segment current for the LEDs is set by an internal digital brightness control. The segment drivers are slew-rate limited to reduce EMI.Individual digits may be addressed and updated without rewriting the entire display. The MAX6955 is a compact display driver that interfaces microprocessors to a mix of 7-segment, 14-segment, and 16-segment LED displays through an I2C-compatible 2-wire serial interface. The MAX6955 drives up to 16 digits 7-segment, 8 digits 14-segment, 8 digits 16-segment, or 128 discrete LEDs, while functioning from a supply voltage as low as 2.7V. The driver includes five I/O expander or general-purpose I/O (GPIO) lines, some or all of which can be configured as a key-switch reader. The key-switch reader automatically scans and debounces a matrix of up to 32 switches.Included on chip are full 14- and 16-segment ASCII 104-character fonts, a hexadecimal font for 7-segment displays, multiplex scan circuitry, anode and cathode drivers, and static RAM that stores each digit. The maximum segment current for the display digits is set using a single external resistor. Digit intensity can be independently adjusted using the 16-step internal digital brightness control. The MAX6955 includes a low-power shutdown mode, a scan-limit register that allows the user to display from 1 to 16 digits, segment blinking (synchronized across multiple drivers, if desired), and a test mode, which forces all LEDs on.
