The demo board features the LTC3789EGN controller. The constant frequency current mode architecture allows a phase-lockable frequency of up to 600kHz, while an optional output current feedback loop provides support for applications such as battery charging. With a wide input range, wide output range and seamless transfers between operation modes, the LTC3789 is ideal for automotive, telecom, distributed DC power systems and battery-powered applications.

The LTC3838 is a dual, PolyPhase? synchronous step-down DC/DC switching regulator controller. Two independent channels drive all N-channel power MOSFETs. The controlled on-time, valley current mode control architecture allows for fast transient response and constant frequency switching in steady-state operation, independent of VIN, VOUT and load current. Its load-release transient detection feature significantly reduces overshoot at low output voltages.Differential output voltage sensing, along with a precision internal reference, offers an accurate ?0.67% output regulation on Channel 1, even if the remote output ground deviates from local ground by ?500mV. The second channel can either provide an independent ?1% output, or together with the first channel of this controller, serve as one of the PolyPhase channels for a single-output voltage.The switching frequency can be programmed from 200kHz to 2MHz with an external resistor, and can be synchronized to an external clock. Very low tON and tOFF times allow for near 0% and near 100% duty cycles, respectively. The LT4363 surge stopper protects loads from high voltage transients. It regulates the output during an overvoltage event, such as load dump in vehicles, by controlling the gate of an external N-channel MOSFET. The output is limited to a safe value allowing the loads to continue functioning. The LT4363 also monitors the voltage drop between the SNS and OUT pins to protect against overcurrent faults. An internal amplifier limits the voltage across the current sense resistor to 50mV. In either fault condition, a timer is started inversely proportional to MOSFET stress. Before the timer expires, the FLT pin pulls low to warn of an impending power down. If the condition persists, the MOSFET is turned off. The LT4363-1 remains off until reset whereas the LT4363-2 restarts after a cool down period.Two precision comparators can monitor the input supply for overvoltage (OV) and undervoltage (UV) conditions. When the potential is below the UV threshold, the external MOSFET is kept off. If the input supply voltage is above the OV threshold, the MOSFET is not allowed to turn back on. Back-to-back MOSFETs can be used in lieu of a Schottky diode for reverse input protection, reducing voltage drop and power loss. The LTC3350 is a backup power controller that can charge and monitor a series stack of one to four supercapacitors. The LTC3350?s synchronous step-down controller drives N?channel MOSFETs for constant current/constant voltage charging with programmable input current limit. In addition, the step-down converter can run in reverse as a step-up converter to deliver power from the supercapacitor stack to the backup supply rail. Internal balancers eliminate the need for external balance resistors and each capacitor has a shunt regulator for overvoltage protection.The LTC3350 monitors system voltages, currents, stack capacitance and stack ESR which can all be read over the I2C/SMBus. Demonstration circuit 2041A is a regulated output voltage switched-capacitor step-down power supply featuring the 50mA output LTC3255. When VIN exceeds VOUT by more the 2:1, a 2:1 step-down architecture is used to efficiently regulate the output voltage, reducing the input current needed. As VIN reduces below twice VOUT, the LTC3255 will automatically switch to 1:1 mode. The demo board has a 4V to 48V input votlage range and a jumper-selectable output voltage than can be set to 2.5V, 3.3V, 5V, 12V or a user-defined value. The LTC3255 also has an integrated shunt regulator allowing it to provide a regulated output from a 4mA to 20mA current loop. The LTC3255 is a robust device that can survive -52V/60V reverse polarity input supplies, and features short-circuit protection and overtemperature protection.
