Demonstration circuits 1053A-E through 1053A-H exercise the LTC3526L family of high efficiency synchronous boost converters, and are capable of operating with an input voltage range from 0.8V to 5.5V. The 2 × 2 mm DFN thermally enhanced package, high switching frequency (1MHz or 2MHz) and 550mA internal power switches provide a very tiny solution. The LTC3526L family also features output disconnect, and the input voltage can be greater or less than the output voltage. DC1053A-E features the LTC3526L (Burst mode operation) and the DC1053A-F features the LTC3526LB (Burst mode defeated). Both have a 1MHz switching frequency and use a 4.7µH inductor.

Demonstration Circuit 1073 is a 100kHz-500kHz programmable frequency, high voltage, current-mode DC/DC step-down converter featuring the LT3845. The operating frequency can be synchronized up to 600kHz. The demo board is designed for 12V @ 6.25A (75W) output from a 20V to 55V input. A soft-start feature controls the output voltage slew rate at start-up, reducing current surges and voltage overshoots. The modes of operation (Burst Mode, Discontinuous Current Mode and Continuous Current Mode) are jumper selectable. Both Burst Mode and Discontinuous Current Mode increase the efficiency at light loads. Continuous Current Mode will maintain a constant switching frequency regardless of the load current.

Demonstration circuit 1091 is a monolithic step-down switching regulator featuring the LT3480 in the MSOP-10 exposed pad package. The operating frequency can be synchronized up to 2MHz. The demo board is designed for 5V/2A output from a 6.3V to 38V input with transients up to 60V. The wide input range of the LT3480 allows a variety of input sources. The typical sources are automotive batteries, wall adaptors and industrial supplies. The modes of operation (Burst Mode and fixed frequency) are jumper selectable.

The LTC3524 is an integrated BIAS and white LED power converter solution for small/medium-sized polysilicon thin ?lm transistor (TFT) liquid crystal (LCD) display panels. The device operates from a single Lithium-Ion/polymer battery or any voltage source between 2.5V and 6V. A 1.5MHz synchronous boost converter generates a programmable low noise, high efficiency 25mA TFT supply of up to 6.0V. Regulated, low ripple charge pumps are used to generate up to +20V and ?20V at 2mA. Output sequencing is internally controlled to insure proper initialization and rapid discharge of the LCD panel in shutdown. A second 1.5MHz boost converter powers one or two LED strings with up to ?ve series elements each.
