The LTC3530 is a wide VIN range, highly efficient, fixed frequency, buck-boost DC/DC converter that operates from input voltages above, below or equal to the output voltage. The topology incorporated in the IC provides a continuous transfer function through all operating modes, making the product ideal for single lithium-ion, two-cell alkaline or NiMH applications where the output voltage is within the battery voltage range.The LTC3530 is pin compatible with the LTC3440 buckboost DC/DC converter but adds programmable automatic Burst Mode operation and extends the VIN/VOUT range to 1.8V. The LTC4245 Hot Swap? controller allows a board to be safely inserted and removed from a live backplane in multiple supply systems such as CompactPCI and PCI Express. The demo board input voltage range depends on the IC used; for the 3.3V output DC862A-A, the input voltage range is 1.8V to 4.4V. The LTC3221's low 8µA no-load quiescent current is even lower than the self-discharging current of many batteries. By employing a constant current to charge the output, the output ripple is low even at high input and light load, and is fairly constant over the full input voltage range.
