ADPD1080 Evaluation Board, optimized for motion detection and long range proximity/presence detection applications

The EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX evaluation kit provides users with a simple means of connecting with the ADPD1080 hardware, collecting data from the ADPD1080, and evaluating long range proximity capabilities. The ADPD1080 hardware is configured with a large area, p-type, intrinsic, n-type (PIN) semiconductor photodiode as a proximity sensor. In this configuration, motion and proximity in front of the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX are measured by detecting the amount of infrared (IR) light reflected off of objects and the change in IR light as objects move relative to the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX.
The evaluation kit requires the EVAL-ADPDM3Z and the Applications Wavetool, which can be downloaded from the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX product page. The Applications Wavetool is a graphical user interface (GUI) that provides users with low level and high level configurability, real-time data analysis, and user datagram protocol (UDP) transfer capabilities so that the evaluation board can easily connect to a PC.
The USB port of the PC powers the EVAL-ADPDM3Z and the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX. On-board voltage regulators provide voltage supplies for the ADPD1080.
The evaluation board schematic indicates signal names for easy identification.

The ADPD4000/ADPD4001 operate as a complete multimodal sensor front end, stimulating up to eight LEDs and measuring the return signal on up to eight separate current inputs. Twelve time slots are available, enabling 12 separate measurements per sampling period.The data output and functional configuration utilize an I2C interface on the ADPD4001 or a serial port interface (SPI) on the ADPD4000. The control circuitry includes flexible LED signaling and synchronous detection. The devices use a 1.8 V analog core and 1.8 V/3.3 V compatible digital input/output (I/O).The analog front end (AFE) rejects signal offsets and corruption from asynchronous modulated interference, typically from ambient light, eliminating the need for optical filters or externally controlled dc cancellation circuitry. The ADXL313 is a small, thin, low power, 3-axis accelerometer with high resolution (13-bit) measurement up to ?4g. Digital output data is formatted as 16-bit twos complement and is accessible through either a serial port interface (SPI) (3-wire or 4-wire) or I2C digital interface.The ADXL313 is well suited for car alarm or black box applications. It measures the static acceleration of gravity in tilt-sensing applications, as well as dynamic acceleration resulting from motion or shock. Its high resolution (1024 LSB/g) and low noise (150 ?g/?Hz) enable resolution of inclination changes of as little as 0.1?. A built-in FIFO facilitates using oversampling techniques to improve resolution to as little as 0.025? of inclination.Several built-in sensing functions are provided. Activity and inactivity sensing detects the presence or absence of motion and whether the acceleration on any axis exceeds a user-set level. These functions can be mapped to interrupt output pins.
