The EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX evaluation kit provides users with a simple means of connecting with the ADPD1080 hardware, collecting data from the ADPD1080, and evaluating long range proximity capabilities. The ADPD1080 hardware is configured with a large area, p-type, intrinsic, n-type (PIN) semiconductor photodiode as a proximity sensor. In this configuration, motion and proximity in front of the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX are measured by detecting the amount of infrared (IR) light reflected off of objects and the change in IR light as objects move relative to the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX. The evaluation kit requires the EVAL-ADPDM3Z and the Applications Wavetool, which can be downloaded from the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX product page. The Applications Wavetool is a graphical user interface (GUI) that provides users with low level and high level configurability, real-time data analysis, and user datagram protocol (UDP) transfer capabilities so that the evaluation board can easily connect to a PC. The USB port of the PC powers the EVAL-ADPDM3Z and the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX. On-board voltage regulators provide voltage supplies for the ADPD1080. The evaluation board schematic indicates signal names for easy identification. Full specifications for the ADPD1080 are available in the ADPD1080 data sheet. Refer to both this data sheet and the EVAL-ADPD1080Z-PRX user guide when working with the evaluation board.

The ADPD4000/ADPD4001 operate as a complete multimodal sensor front end, stimulating up to eight LEDs and measuring the return signal on up to eight separate current inputs. Twelve time slots are available, enabling 12 separate measurements per sampling period.The data output and functional configuration utilize an I2C interface on the ADPD4001 or a serial port interface (SPI) on the ADPD4000. The control circuitry includes flexible LED signaling and synchronous detection. The devices use a 1.8 V analog core and 1.8 V/3.3 V compatible digital input/output (I/O).The analog front end (AFE) rejects signal offsets and corruption from asynchronous modulated interference, typically from ambient light, eliminating the need for optical filters or externally controlled dc cancellation circuitry. The AD590 is a 2-terminal integrated circuit temperature sensor that generates an output current directly proportional to absolute temperature. With supply voltages ranging from 4 V to 30 V, it functions as a high-impedance, constant-current source, delivering 1 μA per Kelvin. The chip's thin-film resistors are laser-trimmed to ensure a precise output of 298.2 μA at 298.2 K (25°C).

The AD590 is ideal for temperature-sensing applications below 150°C, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional electrical temperature sensors. Its monolithic design eliminates the need for additional support circuits like linearization, precision amplifiers, resistance measurement, or cold junction compensation.

Beyond temperature measurement, the AD590 is suitable for applications such as temperature compensation, biasing proportional to absolute temperature, flow rate measurement, fluid level detection, and anemometry. Available in die form, it is well-suited for hybrid circuits and rapid temperature measurement in protected environments.

The AD590 excels in remote sensing applications, thanks to its high-impedance current output, which minimizes the effect of voltage drops over long distances. A well-insulated twisted pair can transmit data over hundreds of feet to the receiving circuitry. Additionally, the AD590 is easy to multiplex, as its current can be switched using a CMOS multiplexer, or the supply voltage can be controlled by a logic gate output.

It can measure the static acceleration of gravity in tilt-sensing applications, as well as dynamic acceleration, resulting from motion, shock, or vibration.The user selects the bandwidth of the accelerometer using the CX, CY, and CZ capacitors at the XOUT, YOUT, and ZOUT pins.
