The AD5232 device provides a nonvolatile, dual-channel, digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) with 256-position resolution. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a mechanical potentiometer with enhanced resolution, solid state reliability, and superior low temperature coefficient performance. The versatile programming of the AD5232, performed via a microcontroller, allows multiple modes of operation and adjustment.In the direct program mode, a predetermined setting of the RDAC registers (RDAC1 and RDAC2) can be loaded directly from the microcontroller. Another important mode of operation allows the RDACx register to be refreshed with the setting previously stored in the corresponding EEMEM register (EEMEM1 and EEMEM2). When changes are made to the RDACx register to establish a new wiper position, the value of the setting can be saved into the EEMEMx register by executing an EEMEM save operation. After the settings are saved in the EEMEMx register, these values are automatically transferred to the RDACx register to set the wiper position at system power-on. Such operation is enabled by the internal preset strobe. The preset strobe can also be accessed externally.All internal register contents can be read via the serial data output (SDO). This includes the RDAC1 and RDAC2 registers, the corresponding nonvolatile EEMEM1 and EEMEM2 registers, and the 14 spare USER EEMEM registers that are available for constant storage.The basic mode of adjustment is the increment and decrement command instructions that control the wiper position setting register (RDACx). An internal scratch pad RDACx register can be moved up or down one step of the nominal resistance between Terminal A and Terminal B. This step adjustment linearly changes the wiper to Terminal B resistance (RWB) by one position segment of the device’s end-to-end resistance (RAB). For exponential/ logarithmic changes in wiper setting, a left/right shift command instruction adjusts the levels in ±6 dB steps, which can be useful for audio and light alarm applications.The AD5232 is available in a thin, 16-lead TSSOP package. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C. The AD5243 and AD5248 provide a compact 3 mm × 4.9 mmpackaged solution for dual, 256-position adjustment applications.The AD5243 performs the same electronic adjustment functionas a 3-terminal mechanical potentiometer, and the AD5248performs the same adjustment function as a 2-terminal variableresistor. Available in four end-to-end resistance values (2.5 kΩ,10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, and 100 kΩ), these low temperature coefficientdevices are ideal for high accuracy and stability-variableresistance adjustments. The wiper settings are controllablethrough the I2C-compatible digital interface. The AD5248 hasextra package address decode pins, AD0 and AD1, allowingmultiple parts to share the same I2C, 2-wire bus on a PCB. Theresistance between the wiper and either endpoint of the fixedresistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the RDAC latch. (The terms digital potentiometer, VR,and RDAC are used interchangeably.)Operating from a 2.7 V to 5.5 V power supply and consumingless than 6 µA allows the AD5243/AD5248 to be used inportable battery-operated applications.For applications that program the AD5243/AD5248 at thefactory, Analog Devices, Inc., offers device programmingsoftware running on Windows® NT/2000/XP operating systems.This software effectively replaces the need for external I2Ccontrollers, which in turn enhances the time to market ofsystems. The AD7730L is a complete analog front end for weigh-scale and pressure measurement applications. The device accepts low-level signals directly from a transducer and outputs a serial digital word. Theinput signal is applied to a proprietary programmable gain front end based around an analog modulator. The modulator output is processed by a low pass programmable digital filter, allowing adjustment of filter cutoff, output rate and settling time.The part features two buffered differential programmable gain analog inputs as well as a differential reference input. The device operates from a single +5 V supply. It accepts four unipolar analog input ranges: 0 mV to +10 mV, +20 mV, +40 mV and +80 mV and four bipolar ranges: ±10 mV, ±20 mV, ±40 mV and ±80 mV. The peak-to-peak resolution achievable directly from the part is 1 in 110,000 counts. An on-chip 6-bit DAC allows the removal of TARE voltages. Clock signals for synchronizing ac excitation of the bridge are also provided.The serial interface on the part can be configured for three-wire operation and is compatible with microcontrollers and digital signal processors. The AD7730L contains self-calibration and system calibration options, and features an offset drift of less than 5 nV/°C and a gain drift of less than 3 ppm/°C. The part is available in a 24-lead SOIC and 24-lead TSSOP package. It is a lower power version of the AD7730 (approximately 1/3 the power).

The ADCMP563/ADCMP564 are high speed comparatorsfabricated on Analog Devices’ proprietary XFCB process. Thedevices feature a 700 ps propagation delay with less than 75 psoverdrive dispersion. Dispersion, a measure of the difference inpropagation delay under differing overdrive conditions, is a particularlyimportant characteristic of high speed comparators. Outputs are complementary digital signals thatare fully compatible with ECL 10 K and 10 KH logic families.The outputs provide sufficient drive current to directly drivetransmission lines terminated in 50 Ω to −2 V. A latch input,which is included, permits tracking, track-and-hold, or sample-and-holdmodes of operation. The ADA4004-1/ADA4004-2/ADA4004-4 are 1.8 nV/√Hz precision amplifiers featuring 40 μV offset, 0.7 μV/°C drift, 12 MHz bandwidth, and low 1.7 mA per amplifier supply current.The ADA4004-1/ADA4004-2/ADA4004-4 are designed on the high performance iPolar™ process, enabling improvements such as reduced noise and power consumption, increased speed and stability, and smaller footprint size. Novel design techniques enable the ADA4004-1/ADA4004-2/ADA4004-4 to achieve 1.8 nV/√Hz voltage noise density and a low 6 Hz 1/f noise corner frequency while consuming just 1.7 mA per amplifier. The small package saves board space, reduces cost, and improves layout flexibility.Applications for these amplifiers include high precision controls, PLL filters, high performance precision filters, medical and analytical instrumentation, precision power supply controls, ATE, and data acquisition systems. Operation is fully specified from ±5 V to ±15 V from −40°C to +125°C.The ADA4004-1, ADA4004-2, and ADA4004-4 are members of a growing series of low noise op amps offered by Analog Devices, Inc.
