The part has standard control inputs and fast data access times for both the serial and parallel interfaces, ensuring easy interfacing to modern microprocessors, microcontrollers, and digital signal processors. In addition to the traditional dc accuracy specifications, such as linearity, full-scale and offset errors, the part is also specified for dynamic performance parameters, including harmonic distortion and signal-to-noise ratio.Power dissipation in normal mode is 82 mW typical; in the standby mode, this is reduced to 75 mW typ. The part is available in a 44-terminal MQFP and a 44-lead PLCC.PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS The AD7891 is a complete monolithic 12-bit data acquisition system that combines an 8-channel multiplexer, 12-bit ADC, 2.5 V reference, and track/hold amplifier on a single chip. The AD7891-2 features a conversion time of 1.6 ms and an acquisition time of 0.4 ms. This allows a sample rate of 500 kSPS when sampling one channel and 62.5 kSPS when channel hopping. These sample rates can be achieved using either a software or hardware convert start. The AD7891-1 has an acquisition time of 0.6 ms when using a hardware convert start and an acquisition time of 0.7 ms when using a software convert start. These acquisition times allow sample rates of 454.5 kSPS and 435 kSPS, respectively, for hardware and software convert start. Each channel on the AD7891 has overvoltage protection. This means an overvoltage on an unselected channel does not affect the conversion on a selected channel. The AD7891-1 can withstand overvoltages of ±17 V.APPLICATIONS Data Acquisition Systems Motor Control Mobile Communication Base Stations Instrumentation

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD7904 / AD7914 / AD7924 are, respectively, 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit, high speed, low power, 4-channel successive approximation ADCs. The parts operate from a single 2.7 V to 5.25 V power supply and feature throughput rates up to 1 MSPS. The parts contain a low noise, wide bandwidth track-and-hold amplifier that can handle input frequencies in excess of 8 MHz.The conversion process and data acquisition are controlled using CS and the serial clock signal, allowing the device to easily inter-face with microprocessors or DSPs. The input signal is sampled on the falling edge of CS and conversion is also initiated at this point. There are no pipeline delays associated with the part. The AD7904 / AD7914 / AD7924 use advanced design techniques to achieve very low power dissipation at maximum throughput rates. At maximum throughput rates, the AD7904 / AD7914 / AD7924 consume 2 mA maximum with 3 V supplies; with 5 V supplies, the current consumption is 2.7 mA maximum.Through the configuration of the control register, the analog input range for the part can be selected as 0 V to REFIN or 0 V to 2 × REFIN, with either straight binary or twos complement output coding. The AD7904 / AD7914 / AD7924 each feature four single-ended analog inputs with a channel sequencer to allow a pre-programmed selection of channels to be converted sequentially. The conversion time for the AD7904 / AD7914 / AD7924 is determined by the SCLK frequency, which is also used as the master clock to control the conversion.PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS High Throughput with Low Power Consumption. The AD7904/AD7914/AD7924 offer throughput rates up to 1 MSPS. Four Single-Ended Inputs with Channel Sequencer. A consecutive sequence of channels can be selected, through which the ADC will cycle and convert on. Single-Supply Operation with VDRIVE Function. The AD7904/AD7914/AD7924 operate from a single 2.7 V to 5.25 V supply. The VDRIVE function allows the serial interface to connect directly to 3 V or 5 V processor systems, independent of VDD. Flexible Power/Serial Clock Speed Management. The conversion rate is determined by the serial clock, allowing the conversion time to be reduced by increasing the serial clock speed. The parts also feature two shutdown modes to maximize power efficiency at lower throughput rates. Current consumption is 0.5 µA maximum when in full shutdown. No Pipeline Delay. The parts feature a standard successive approximation ADC with accurate control of the sampling instant via the CS input and once-off conversion control.

The ADuC841/ADuC842/ADuC843 are complete smart transducer front ends, that integrates a high performance self-calibrating multichannel ADC, a dual DAC, and an optimized single-cycle 20 MHz 8-bit MCU (8051 instruction set compatible)on a single chip. The ADuC841 and ADuC842 are identical with the exception of the clock oscillator circuit; the ADuC841 is clocked directly from an external crystal up to 20 MHz whereas the ADuC842 uses a 32 kHz crystal with an on-chip PLL generating a programmable core clock up to 16.78 MHz.The ADuC843 is identical to the ADuC842 except that the ADuC843 has no analog DAC outputs. The microcontroller is an optimized 8052 core offering up to 20 MIPS peak performance. Three different memory options are available offering up to 62 kBytes of nonvolatile Flash/EE program memory. Four kBytes of nonvolatile Flash/EE data memory, 256 bytes RAM, and 2 kBytes of extended RAM are also integrated on-chip. The parts also incorporate additional analog functionality with two 12-bit DACs, power supply monitor, and a band gap reference. On-chip digital peripherals include two 16-bit Σ-Δ. DACs, a dual output 16-bit PWM, a watchdog timer, a time interval counter, three timers/counters, and three serial I/O ports (SPI, I2C, and UART).On the ADuC812 and the ADuC832, the I2C and SPI interfaces share some of the same pins. For backwards compatibility, this is also the case for the ADuC841/ADuC842/ADuC843.However, there is also the option to allow SPI operate separately on P3.3, P3.4, and P3.5, while I2C uses the standard pins. The I2C interface has also been enhanced to offer repeated start, general call, and quad addressing.On-chip factory firmware supports in-circuit serial download and debug modes (via UART) as well as single-pin emulation mode via the EA pin..Applications Optical networking—laser power control Base station systems Precision instrumentation, smart sensors Transient capture systems DAS and communications systems
