AD587KRZ-REEL

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD587 represents a major advance in state-of-the-art monolithic voltage references. Using a proprietary ion-implanted buried Zener diode and laser wafer trimming of high stability thin-film resistors, the AD587 provides outstanding performance at low cost. The AD587 offers much higher performance than most other 10 V references. Because the AD587 uses an industry-standard pinout, many systems can be upgraded instantly with the AD587.The buried Zener approach to reference design provides lower noise and drift than band gap voltage references. The AD587 offers a noise-reduction pin that can be used to further reduce the noise level generated by the buried Zener. The AD587 is recommended for use as a reference for 8-bit, 10-bit, 12-bit, 14-bit, or 16-bit DACs that require an external precision reference. The device is also ideal for successive approximation or integrating ADCs with up to 14 bits of accuracy. In general, it offers better performance than standard on-chip references. The AD587J and AD587K are specified for operation from 0°C to 70°C, and the AD587U is specified for operation from −55°C to +125°C. The AD587JQ and AD587UQ models are available in 8-lead CERDIP. Other models are available in an 8-lead SOIC package for surface-mount applications, or in an 8-lead PDIP.PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS Laser trimming of both initial accuracy and temperature coefficients. This laser trimming results in very low errors over temperature without the use of external components. The AD587U guarantees ±14 mV maximum total error between −55°C and +125°C. Optional fine trim connection. This connection is designed for applications requiring higher precision. Instant upgrade of any system using an industry-standard pinout 10 V reference. Very low output noise. AD587 output noise is typically 4 μV p-p. A noise-reduction pin is provided for additional noise filtering using an external capacitor. MIL-STD-883-compliant versions available. Refer to the Analog Devices Military/Aerospace Reference Manual for detailed specifications.

AD603AQ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD603 is a low noise, voltage-controlled amplifier for use in RF and IF AGC systems. It provides accurate, pin-selectable gains of −11 dB to +31 dB with a bandwidth of 90 MHz or +9 dB to 51+ dB with a bandwidth of 9 MHz. Any intermediate gain range may be arranged using one external resistor. The input referred noise spectral density is only 1.3 nV/√Hz, and power consumption is 125 mW at the recommended ±5 V supplies. The decibel gain is linear in dB, accurately calibrated, and stable over temperature and supply. The gain is controlled at a high impedance (50 MΩ), low bias (200 nA) differential input; the scaling is 25 mV/dB, requiring a gain control voltage of only 1 V to span the central 40 dB of the gain range. An overrange and underrange of 1 dB is provided whatever the selected range. The gain control response time is less than 1 μs for a 40 dB change. The differential gain control interface allows the use of either differential or single-ended positive or negative control voltages. Several of these amplifiers may be cascaded and their gain control gains offset to optimize the system SNR.The AD603 can drive a load impedance as low as 100 Ω with low distortion. For a 500 Ω load in shunt with 5 pF, the total harmonic distortion for a ±1 V sinusoidal output at 10 MHz is typically −60 dBc. The peak specified output is ±2.5 V minimum into a 500 Ω load. The AD603 uses a patented proprietary circuit topology—the X-AMP®. The X-AMP comprises a variable attenuator of 0 dB to −42.14 dB followed by a fixed-gain amplifier. Because of the attenuator, the amplifier never has to cope with large inputs and can use negative feedback to define its (fixed) gain and dynamic performance. The attenuator has an input resistance of 100 Ω, laser trimmed to ±3%, and comprises a 7-stage R-2R ladder network, resulting in an attenuation between tap points of 6.021 dB. A proprietary interpolation technique provides a continuous gain control function that is linear in dB.The AD603 is specified for operation from −40°C to +85°C.Applications RF/IF AGC amplifiers Video gain controls A/D range extensions Signal measurements

AD604-EVALZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD604 is an ultralow noise, very accurate, dual-channel, linear-in-dB variable gain amplifier (VGA) optimized for time-based variable gain control in ultrasound applications; however, it supports any application requiring low noise, wide bandwidth, variable gain control. Each channel of the AD604 provides a 300 kΩ input resistance and unipolar gain control for ease of use. User determined gain ranges, gain scaling (dB/V), and dc level shifting of output further optimize performance. Each channel of the AD604 utilizes a high performance preamplifier that provides an input referred noise voltage of 0.8 nV/√Hz. The very accurate linear-in-dB response of the AD604 is achieved with the differential input exponential amplifier (DSX-AMP) architecture. Each of the DSX-AMPs comprise a variable attenuator of 0 dB to 48.36 dB followed by a high speed fixed gain amplifier. The attenuator is a 7-stage R-1.5R ladder network. The attenuation between tap points is 6.908 dB and 48.36 dB for the ladder network. The equation for the linear-in-dB gain response isG(dB) = (Gain Scaling (dB/V) × VGN (V))+ (Preamp Gain (dB) – 19 dB)Preamplifier gains between 5 and 10 (14 dB and 20 dB) provide overall gain ranges per channel of 0 dB through 48 dB and 6 dB through 54 dB. The two channels of the AD604 can be cascaded to provide greater levels of gain range by bypassing the second channel’s preamplifier. However, in multiple channel systems, cascading the AD604 with other devices in the AD60x VGA family that do not include a preamplifier may provide a more efficient solution. The AD604 provides access to the output of the preamplifier, allowing for external filtering between the preamplifier and the differential attenuator stage.Note that scale factors up to 40 dB/V are achievable with reduced accuracy for scales above 30 dB/V. The gain scales linearly-in-dB with control voltages of 0.4 V to 2.4 V with the 20 dB/V scale. Below and above this gain control range, the gain begins to deviate from the ideal linear-in-dB control law. The gain control region below 0.1 V is not used for gain control. In fact when the gain control voltage is <50 mV, the amplifier channel is powered down to 1.9 mA.The AD604 is available in 24-lead SSOP, SOIC, and PDIP packages and is guaranteed for operation over the −40°C to +85°C temperature range.Applications Ultrasound and sonar time gain control High performance AGC systems Signal measurement

AD605ANZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD605 is a low noise, accurate, dual-channel, linear-in-dB variable gain amplifier (VGA), optimized for any application requiring high performance, wide bandwidth variable gain control. Operating from a single 5 V supply, the AD605 provides differential inputs and unipolar gain control for ease of use. Added flexibility is achieved with a user-determined gain range and an external reference input that provide user-determined gain scaling (dB/V). The high performance linear-in-dB response of the AD605 is achieved with the differential input, single-supply, exponential amplifier (DSX-AMP) architecture. Each of the DSX-AMPs comprises a variable attenuator of 0 dB to −48.4 dB followed by a high speed, fixed-gain amplifier. The attenuator is based on a 7-stage R-1.5R ladder network. The attenuation between tap points is 6.908 dB, and 48.360 dB for the entire ladder network. The DSX-AMP architecture results in 1.8 nV/√Hz input noise spectral density and accepts a ±2.0 V input signal when VOCM is biased at VP/2. Each independent channel of the AD605 provides a gain range of 48 dB that can be optimized for the application. Gain ranges between −14 dB to +34 dB and 0 dB to +48 dB can be selected by a single resistor between Pin FBK and Pin OUT. The lower and upper gain ranges are determined by shorting Pin FBK to Pin OUT or leaving Pin FBK unconnected, respectively. The two channels of the AD605 can be cascaded to provide 96 dB of very accurate gain range in a monolithic package. The gain control interface provides an input resistance of approximately 2 MΩ and scale factors from 20 dB/V to 30 dB/V for a VREF input voltage of 2.5 V to 1.67 V, respectively. Note that scale factors up to 40 dB/V are achievable with reduced accuracy for scales above 30 dB/V. The gain scales linearly in dB with control voltages (VGN) of 0.4 V to 2.4 V for the 20 dB/V scale and 0.20 V to 1.20 V for the 40 dB/V scale. When VGN is The AD605 is available in a 16-lead PDIP and a 16-lead SOIC_N package and is guaranteed for operation over the −40°C to +85°C temperature range. Analog Devices Inc.
The AD6623 is a four channel Transmit Signal Processor (TSP) that creates high bandwidth data for Transmit Digital-to-Analog Converters (TxDAC®s) from baseband data provided by a Digital Signal Processor (DSP). Modern TxDACs have achieved sufficiently high sampling rates, analog bandwidth, and dynamic range to create the first Intermediate Frequency (IF) directly. The AD6623 synthesizes multi-carrier and multi-standard digital signals to drive these TxDACs. The RAM-based architecture allows easy reconfiguration for multi-mode applications. Modulation, pulse-shaping and anti-imaging filters, static equalization, and tuning functions are combined in a single, cost-effective device. Digital IF signal processing provides repeatable manufacturing, higher accuracy, and more flexibility than comparable high dynamic range analog designs. The AD6623 is pin compatible to the AD6622 and can operate in AD6622 compatible control register mode. Each TSP has five cascaded signal processing elements: a programmable interpolating RAM Coefficient Filter (RCF), a programmable Scale and Power Ramp, a programmable 5th order Cascaded Integrator Comb (CIC5) interpolating filter, a flexible 2nd order Re-Sampling Cascaded Integrator Comb filter (rCIC2), and a Numerically Controlled Oscillator/tuner (NCO). The AD6623 has four identical digital TSPs complete with synchronization circuitry and cascadable wideband channel summation. The outputs of the four TSPs are summed and scaled on-chip. In multi-carrier channel wideband transmitters, a bi-directional bus allows the Parallel (wideband) IF Input/Output to drive a second DAC. In this operational mode two AD6623 channels drive one DAC and the other two AD6623 channels drive a second DAC. Multiple AD6623s may be combined by driving the INOUT[17:0] of the succeeding with the OUT[17:0] of the preceding chip. The INOUT[17:0] can alternatively be masked off by software to allow preceding AD6623s outputs to be ignored. Each channel accepts input data from independent serial ports that may be connected directly to the serial port of Digital Signal Processor (DSP) chips. The AD6623 utilizes a 3.3V I/O power supply and a 2.5V core power supply. All I/O pins are 5V tolerant. All control registers and coefficient values are programmed through a generic microprocessor interface. Intel and Motorola microprocessor bus modes are supported. All inputs and outputs are LVCMOS compatible.Applications Cellular/PCS Base Stations Micro/Pico Cell Base Stations Wireless Local Loop Base Stations Multicarrier, Multimode Digital Transmit GSM, EDGE, IS136, PHS, IS95, TDS CDMA, UMTS, CDMA2000 Phased Array Beam Forming Antennas Software Defined Radio Tuning Resolution Better than 0.025 Hz Real or Complex Outputs

The AD7142 and AD7142-1 are integrated capacitance-to-digital converters (CDCs) with on-chip environmental calibration for use in systems requiring a novel user input method. The AD7142 and AD7142-1 can interface to external capacitance sensors implementing functions such as capacitive buttons, scroll bars, or wheels. The CDC has 14 inputs channeled through a switch matrix to a 16-bit, 250 kHz sigma-delta (∑-Δ) capacitance-to-digital converter. The CDC is capable of sensing changes in the capacitance of the external sensors and uses this information to register a sensor activation. The external sensors can be arranged as a series of buttons, as a scroll bar or wheel, or as a combination of sensor types. By programming the registers, the user has full control over the CDC setup. High resolution sensors require minor software to run on the host processor. The AD7142 and AD7142-1 have on-chip calibration logic to account for changes in the ambient environment. The calibration sequence is performed automatically and at continuous intervals, when the sensors are not touched. This ensures that there are no false or nonregistering touches on the external sensors due to a changing environment. The AD7142 has an SPI-compatible serial interface, and the AD7142-1 has an I2C-compatible serial interface. Both parts have an interrupt output, as well as a general-purpose input/ output (GPIO). The AD7142 and AD7142-1 are available in a 32-lead, 5 mm × 5 mm LFCSP_VQ and operate from a 2.6 V to 3.6 V supply. The operating current consumption is less than 1 mA, falling to 50 μA in low power mode (conversion interval of 400 ms).ApplicationsPersonal music and multimedia playersCell phonesDigital still camerasSmart hand-held devicesTelevision, A/V, and remote controlsGaming consoles
