The LTC3605A is a high efficiency, monolithic synchronous buck regulator using a phase lockable controlled on-time constant frequency, current mode architecture. PolyPhase operation allows multiple LTC3605A regulators to run out of phase while using minimal input and output capacitance. The operating supply voltage range is from 20V down to 4V, making it suitable for dual, triple or quadruple lithium-ion battery inputs as well as point of load power supply applications from a 12V or 5V rail.The operating frequency is programmable from 800kHz to 4MHz with an external resistor. The high frequency capability allows the use of small surface mount inductors. For switching noise sensitive applications, it can be externally synchronized from 800kHz to 4MHz. The PHMODE pin allows user control of the phase of the outgoing clock signal. The unique constant frequency/controlled on-time architecture is ideal for high step-down ratio applications that are operating at high frequency while demanding fast transient response. Two internal phase-lock loops synchronize the internal oscillator to the external clock and also servos the regulator on-time to lock on to either the internal clock or the external clock if it?s present. The LT4363 surge stopper protects loads from high voltage transients. It regulates the output during an overvoltage event, such as load dump in vehicles, by controlling the gate of an external N-channel MOSFET. The output is limited to a safe value allowing the loads to continue functioning. The LT4363 also monitors the voltage drop between the SNS and OUT pins to protect against overcurrent faults. An internal amplifier limits the voltage across the current sense resistor to 50mV. In either fault condition, a timer is started inversely proportional to MOSFET stress. Before the timer expires, the FLT pin pulls low to warn of an impending power down. If the condition persists, the MOSFET is turned off. The LT4363-1 remains off until reset whereas the LT4363-2 restarts after a cool down period.Two precision comparators can monitor the input supply for overvoltage (OV) and undervoltage (UV) conditions. When the potential is below the UV threshold, the external MOSFET is kept off. If the input supply voltage is above the OV threshold, the MOSFET is not allowed to turn back on. Back-to-back MOSFETs can be used in lieu of a Schottky diode for reverse input protection, reducing voltage drop and power loss. The LTC3350 is a backup power controller that can charge and monitor a series stack of one to four supercapacitors. The LTC3350?s synchronous step-down controller drives N?channel MOSFETs for constant current/constant voltage charging with programmable input current limit. In addition, the step-down converter can run in reverse as a step-up converter to deliver power from the supercapacitor stack to the backup supply rail.
