The MAX17595/MAX17596/MAX17597 is a family of peak-current-mode controllers for design of wide input-voltage flyback and boost regulators. The MAX17595 offers optimized input thresholds for universal input AC-DC converters and telecom DC-DC (36V to 72V input range) power supplies. The MAX17596/MAX17597 offer input thresholds suitable for low-voltage DC-DC applications (4.5V to 36V). The MAX17597 implements a boost converter. All three controllers contain a built-in gate driver for external n-channel MOSFETs.The MAX17595/MAX17596/MAX17597 house an internal error amplifier with 1% accurate reference, eliminating the need for an external reference. The switching frequency is programmable from 100kHz to 1MHz with an accuracy of 8%, allowing optimization of magnetic and filter components, resulting in compact and cost-effective power conversion. For EMI-sensitive applications, the MAX17595/MAX17596/MAX17597 family incorporates a programmable frequency dithering scheme, enabling low-EMI spread-spectrum operation.Users can start the power supply precisely at the desired input voltage, implement input overvoltage protection, and program soft-start time. The MAX17600–MAX17605 devices are high-speed MOSFET drivers capable of sinking /sourcing 4A peak currents. The devices have various inverting and noninverting part options that provide greater flexibility in controlling the MOSFET. The devices have internal logic circuitry that prevents shoot-through during output-state changes. The logic inputs are protected against voltage spikes up to +14V, regardless of VDD voltage. Propagation delay time is minimized and matched between the dual channels. The devices have very fast switching time, combined with short propagation delays (12ns typ), making them ideal for high-frequency circuits. The devices operate from a +4V to +14V single power supply and typically consume 1mA of supply current. The MAX17600/MAX17601 have standard TTL input logic levels, while the MAX17603 /MAX17604/MAX17605 have CMOS-like high-noise margin (HNM) input logic levels. The MAX17600/MAX17603 are dual inverting input drivers, the MAX17601/MAX17604 are dual noninverting input drivers, and the MAX17602/MAX17605 devices have one noninverting and one inverting input. The MAX14575A/MAX14575AL/MAX14575B/MAX14575C programmable current-limit switches feature internal current limiting to prevent damage to host devices due to faulty load conditions. These current-limit switches feature a low 32mΩ (typ) on-resistance and operate from a +2.3V to +5.5V input-voltage range. The current limit is adjustable from 250mA to 2.5A, making these devices ideal for charging a large load capacitor, as well as for high-current load switching applications. Each device in the family handles an overcurrent event differently depending on the option selected. The MAX14575A/MAX14575AL feature an autoretry mode; the MAX14575A has active-high EN polarity, while the MAX14575AL has active-low EN polarity. The MAX14575B has latch-off mode, and the MAX14575C features a continuous current-limit mode. Additional safety features include thermal-shutdown protection to prevent overheating and reverse-current blocking to prevent current from being driven back into the source. They operate with an input voltage supply from 3.5V to 42V and can operate in drop-out condition by running at 95% duty cycle. The devices are intended for applications with mid- to high-power requirements and requiring two independently controlled output supplies, such as automotive applications. The MAX16932/MAX16933 step-down controllers operate 180° out-of-phase for reduced input ripple. The devices also operate with switching frequencies up to 2.2MHz to allow use of small external components and to guarantee no AM band interference.
