Demonstration circuit 2041A is a regulated output voltage switched-capacitor step-down power supply featuring the 50mA output LTC3255. When VIN exceeds VOUT by more the 2:1, a 2:1 step-down architecture is used to efficiently regulate the output voltage, reducing the input current needed. As VIN reduces below twice VOUT, the LTC3255 will automatically switch to 1:1 mode. The demo board has a 4V to 48V input votlage range and a jumper-selectable output voltage than can be set to 2.5V, 3.3V, 5V, 12V or a user-defined value. The LTC3255 also has an integrated shunt regulator allowing it to provide a regulated output from a 4mA to 20mA current loop. The LTC3255 is a robust device that can survive -52V/60V reverse polarity input supplies, and features short-circuit protection and overtemperature protection.

Demonstration circuit 2081A-A features the LTM4630EV, the high efficiency, high density, dual 18A, switch mode step-down μModule® regulator. The input voltage is from 4.5V to 15V. The output voltage is programmable from 0.6V to 1.8V. DC2081A-A is configured as dual-phase, single-output, which can deliver up to 36A maximum. The board designs with minimum components to demonstrate this high efficiency, high density μModule. As explained in the data sheet, output current de-rating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, and thermal conditions.

The LT8631 is a current mode PWM step-down DC/DC converter with internal synchronous switches that provide current for output loads up to 1A. The wide input range of 3V to 100V makes the LT8631 suitable for regulating power from a wide variety of sources, including automotive and industrial systems and 36V to 72V telecom supplies. Low ripple Burst Mode operation enables high efficiency operation down to very low output currents while keeping the output ripple below 10mVP-P. Resistor programmable 100kHz to 1MHz frequency range and synchronization capability enable optimization between efficiency and external component size. Demonstration circuit 1231A is a Dual Output, Dual Phase 5A Synchronous Buck Converter featuring the LTC3850EGN. The entire circuit, including the bulk output capacitors, fit within a 1.04” × 0.94” area on all layers. The package style for the LTC3850EGN is a 28-lead narrow plastic SSOP. The main features of the board include rail tracking, an internal 5V linear regulator for bias, RUN pins for each output and a PGOOD signal and a Mode selector that allow the converter to run in CCM, pulse skip or Burst Mode operation. Synchronization to an external clock is also possible through some minor component changes. Two versions of the board are available. DC-1231A-A has an on-board sense resistor for current feedback, while the DC1231A-B is configured with a DCR sense circuit that allows the converter to use the inductor’s DCR as the sense element instead of the on-board sense resistors to save cost and board space and improves efficiency.
