The HMC566 is a high dynamic range GaAs PHEMT MMIC Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) chip which operates from 29 to 36 GHz. The HMC566 provides 20 dB of small signal gain, 2.8 dB of noise figure and output IP3 of 23.5 dBm across the operating band. This self-biased LNA is ideal for hybrid and MCM assemblies due to its compact size, slightly positive gain slope, single +3V supply operation, and DC blocked RF I/O’s. The LTC5577 active mixer is optimized for RF downconverting applications that require high input signal handling capability and wide bandwidth. The wideband IF output uses external resistors to set the output impedance, allowing the flexibility to match directly into differential IF loads, such as filters and amplifiers. The part is characterized and specified with a 100Ω differential output impedance, although it can be used with output impedances ranging from 50Ω to 400Ω, with higher gain and reduced IIP3 and P1dB at the higher impedance levels. The IF output is usable up to 1.5GHz.In receiver applications, the high input P1dB and IIP3 allow the use of higher gain low noise amplifiers, resulting in higher receiver sensitivity. The ADL5240 is a high performance, digitally controlled variable gain amplifier (VGA) operating from 100 MHz to 4000 MHz. The VGA integrates a high performance, 20 dB gain, internally matched amplifier (AMP) with a 6-bit digital step attenuator (DSA) that has a gain control range of 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps with ±0.25 dB step accuracy. The attenuation of the DSA can be controlled using a serial or parallel interface.Both the gain block and DSA are internally matched to 50 Ω at their inputs and outputs and are separately biased. The separate bias allows all or part of the ADL5240 to be used, which facilitates easy reuse throughout a design. The pinout of the ADL5240 also enables either the gain block or DSA to be first, giving the VGA maximum flexibility in a signal chain.The ADL5240 consumes just 93 mA and operates from a single supply ranging from 4.75 V to 5.25 V. The VGA is packaged in a thermally efficient, 5 mm × 5 mm, 32-lead LFCSP and is fully specified for operation from −40°C to +85°C.
