The LTC4066/LTC4066-1 are USB power managers and Li-Ion battery chargers designed to work in portable battery-powered applications. The parts control the total current used by the USB peripheral for operation and battery charging. The total input current can be limited to 100mA, 500mA or ?unlimited? (i.e., above 2A). Battery charge current is automatically reduced such that the sum of the load current and the charge current does not exceed the programmed input current limit.The LTC4066/LTC4066-1 include a standalone constant-current / constant-voltage linear charger for single cell Li-ion batteries. The ?oat voltage applied to the battery is held to a tight 0.8% tolerance, and charge current is programmable using an external resistor to ground. A programmable end-of-charge status output (CHRG) indicates full charge. BAT pin charge and discharge currents can be monitored via an analog output (ISTAT). Total charge time is programmable by an external capacitor to ground. When the battery drops 100mV below the ?oat voltage, automatic recharging of the battery occurs. Demonstration circuit 2350B features the LTC6813-1, 18-channel battery-stack monitor. Multiple boards can be linked through a 2-wire isolated serial interface (isoSPI™) to monitor a long series of cells in a stack. The DC2350B demo board also features reversible isoSPI enabling a redundant communication path. The PCB, components, and DuraClik connectors are optimized for low EMI susceptibility and emissions. The DC2350B can communicate to a PC by connecting a DC2792B dual master isoSPI together with DC2026C Linduino® One. The DC2026 must be loaded with the appropriate program (called a sketch) to control the battery-stack monitor IC and receive data through a USB serial port. The DC2026 provides a standard SPI interface which can be translated to isoSPI and then connected to a DC2350B isoSPI port (J4 or J5 connector). The DC2792B companion board provides two SPI-isoSPI channels for reversible operation.

Demonstration circuit 2807A features the LTC6560 single channel transimpedance amplifier (TIA) with output multiplexing. The DC2807A accepts voltage pulses and converts them to current for the TIA. The LTC6560, which features 74kΩ transimpedance gain and 30µA linear input current range, is ideal for LIDAR receivers using avalanche photodiodes (APD). The LTC6560 operates from 5V single supply and consumes only 90mW. Utilizing the LTC6560’s output MUX, multiple LTC6560 devices can combine into a single output. The LTC6560’s fast overload recovery makes it well suited for LIDAR receivers. The LTC6560’s single-ended output can swing 2VP-P into a 100Ω load. The LTC6560 is packaged in a compact 3mm × 3mm 16-pin leadless QFN package with an exposed pad for thermal management and low inductance.
