Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5590 is a 16-channel input and 16-channel output analog I/O port with eight uncommitted amplifiers, operating from a single 4.5 V to 5.25 V supply. The AD5590 comprises 16 input channels multiplexed into a 1 MSPS, 12-bit successive approximation ADC with a sequencer to allow a preprogrammed selection of channels to be converted sequentially. The ADC contains a low noise, wide bandwidth track-and-hold amplifier that can handle input frequencies in excess of 1 MHz.The conversion process and data acquisition are controlled using ASYNC and the serial clock signal, allowing the device to easily interface with microprocessors or DSPs. The input signal is sampled on the falling edge of ASYNC and conversion is also initiated at this point. There are no pipeline delays associated with the ADC. By setting the relevant bits in the control register, the analog input range for the ADC can be selected to be a 0 V to VREFA input or a 0 V to 2 ? VREFA with either straight binary or twos complement output coding. The conversion time is determined by the ASCLK frequency because it is also used as the master clock to control the conversion. The DAC section of the AD5590 comprises sixteen 12-bit DACs divided into two groups of eight. Each group has an on-chip reference. The on-board references are off at power-up, allowing the use of external references. The internal references are enabled via a software write. The AD5590 incorporates a power-on reset circuit that ensures that the DAC outputs power up to 0 V and remain powered up at this level until a valid write takes place. The DAC contains a power-down feature that reduces the current consumption of the device and provides software-selectable output loads while in power-down mode for any or all DAC channels. The outputs of all DACs can be updated simultaneously using the LDAC function, with the added functionality of user-selectable DAC channels to simultaneously update. There is also an asynchronous CLR that updates all DACs to a user-programmable code: zero scale, midscale, or full scale. The AD5590 contains eight low noise, single-supply amplifiers. These amplifiers can be used for signal conditioning for the ADCs, DACs, or other independent circuitry, if required.APPLICATIONS Optical Line Cards (Monitoring and Control) Base Stations General Purpose Analog I/O Monitoring and control

The LTC1628/LTC1628-PG are high performance dual step-down switching regulator controllers that drive all N-channel synchronous power MOSFET stages. A constant frequency current mode architecture allows adjustment of the frequency up to 300kHz. Power loss and noise due to the ESR of the input capacitors are minimized by operating the two controller output stages out of phase.OPTI-LOOP compensation allows the transient response to be optimized over a wide range of output capacitance and ESR values. The precision 0.8V reference and power good output indicator are compatible with future microprocessor generations, and a wide 3.5V to 30V (36V maximum) input supply range encompasses all battery chemistries.A RUN/SS pin for each controller provides both soft-start and optional timed, short-circuit shutdown. Current foldback limits MOSFET dissipation during short-circuit conditions when overcurrent latchoff is disabled. Output overvoltage protection circuitry latches on the bottom MOSFET until VOUT returns to normal. The FCB mode pin can select among Burst Mode, constant frequency mode and continuous inductor current mode or regulate a secondary winding. The LTC1628-PG includes a power good output pin that replaces the FLTCPL, fault coupling control pin of the LTC1628.Applications Notebook and Palmtop Computers, PDAs Battery Chargers Portable Instruments Battery-Operated Digital Devices DC Power Distribution Systems

The ADF7030-1 is ideally suited for applications that require long range, network robustness, and long battery life. It is suitable for applications that operate in the ISM, SRD, and licensed frequency bands at 169.4 MHz to 169.6 MHz, 426 MHz to 470 MHz, and 863 MHz to 960 MHz. It provides extensive support for standards-based protocols like IEEE802.15.4g while also providing flexibility to support a wide range of proprietary protocols. The highly configurable low intermediate frequency (IF) receiver supports a large range of receiver channel bandwidths from 2.6 kHz to 406 kHz. This range of receiver channel bandwidths allows the ADF7030-1 to support ultranarrow-band, narrow-band, and wideband channel spacing. The ADF7030-1 features two independent PAs supporting output power ranges of ?20 dBm to +13 dBm and ?20 dBm to +17 dBm. The PAs support ultrafine adjustment of the power with a step resolution of 0.1 dB. The PA output power is exceptionally robust over temperature and voltage. The PAs have an automatic power ramp control to limit spectral splatter to meet regulatory standards. The ADF7030-1 features an on-chip ARM??Cortex?-M0 processor that performs radio control, radio calibration, and packet management. Cortex-M0 eases the processing burden of the host processor because the ADF7030-1 integrates the lower layers of a typical communication protocol stack. This internal processor also permits the download and execution of Analog Devices, Inc., provided firmware modules that can extend the functionality of the ADF7030-1.The ADF7030-1 has two packet modes: generic packet mode and IEEE802.15.4g mode. In generic packet mode, the packet format is highly flexible and fully programmable, thereby ensuring its compatibility with proprietary packet formats. In IEEE802.15.4g packet mode, the packet format conforms to the?IEEE802.15.4g standard. FEC, as per the IEEE802.15.4g standard, is also supported. The ADF7030-1 operates with a power supply range of 2.2 V to 3.6 V and has very low power consumption in both Tx and Rx modes, enabling long lifetimes in battery-operated systems. An ultralow power deep sleep mode achieves a typical current of 10 nA with the configuration memory retained.A complete wireless solution can be built using a small number of external discrete components and a host processor (typically a microcontroller). The host processor can configure the ADF7030-1 using a simple command-based protocol over a standard 4-wire SPI interface. A single-byte command transitions the radio between states or performs a radio function. The ADF7030-1 is available in two package types: a 6 mm ? 6 mm, 40-lead LFCSP and a 7 mm ? 7 mm, 48-lead LQFP. Both package types use NiPdAu plating to mitigate against silver migration in high humidity applications. The ADF7030-1 operating temperature range is ?40?C to +85?C.For Figure 13 to Figure 19, Figure 30, Figure 42, Figure 60, Figure 61, and Figure 75 in the Typical Performance Characteristics section, PA_COARSE is a programmable value that provides a coarse adjustment of the PA output power. This value can be programmed in the range of 1 to 6 for PA1, and from 1 to 10 for PA2. PA_FINE is a programmable value that provides a fine adjustment of the PA output power. This value can be programmed in the range of 3 to 127 for both PA1 and PA2. PA_MICRO is a programmable value that provides a microadjustment (typically <0.1 dB) of the PA output power. This value can be programmed in the range of 1 to 31 for both PA1 and PA2. PAOLDO_VOUT_CON is a programmable value that configures the internal LDO voltage that provides bias for the PA. LTC2358-16 Demo Board | Buffered Octal, 16-Bit, 200ksps Simultaneous Sampling SAR ADC (Requires DC590, DC2026 or DC890)

Analog Devices Inc.
Demonstration circuit 2365A highlights the LTC2358 family of buffered input ADCs. The LTC2358/LTC2357/LTC2353/LTC2333 are low noise, high speed, 16-/18-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADCs with integrated front end buffers. These ADCs accept a wide common mode range. Pico-amp inputs and high CMRR enable these ADCs to connect directly to a wide range of sensors without compromising measurement accuracy. The demo manual refers to the LTC2358-18 but applies to all parts in the family, the only differences being the number of bits, number of channels and the maximum sample rate. The LTC2358-18 has a flexible SoftSpan™ interface that allows conversion-by-conversion control of the input voltage span on a per-channel basis. An internal 2.048V reference and 2X buffer simplify basic operation while an external reference can be used to increase the input range and the SNR of the ADC.

AD8333-EVALZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8333 is a dual-phase shifter and I/Q demodulator that enables coherent summing and phase alignment of multiple analog data channels. It is the first solid-state device suitable forbeamformer circuits, such as those used in high performance medical ultrasound equipment featuring CW Doppler. The RF inputs interface directly with the outputs of the dual-channel, low noise preamplifiers included in the?AD8332.A divide-by-4 circuit generates the internal 0? and 90? phases of the local oscillator (LO) that drive the mixers of a pair of matched I/Q demodulators. The AD8333 can be applied as a major element in analog beamformer circuits in medical ultrasound equipment. The AD8333 features an asynchronous reset pin. When used in arrays, the reset pin sets all the LO dividers in the same state. Sixteen discrete phase rotations in 22.5? increments can be selected independently for each channel. For example, if Channel 1 is used as a reference and the RF signal applied to Channel 2 has an I/Q phase lead of 45?, Channel 2 can be phase aligned with Channel 1 by choosing the correct code.Phase shift is defined by the output of one channel relative to another. For example, if the code of Channel 1 is adjusted to 0000 and that of Channel 2 to 0001 and the same signal is applied to both RF inputs, the output of Channel 2 leads that of Channel 1 by 22.5?.The I and Q outputs are provided as currents to facilitate summation. The summed current outputs are converted to voltages by a high dynamic-range, current-to-voltage (I-V) converter, such as the AD8021, configured as a transimpedance amplifier. The resultant signal is then applied to a high resolution ADC, such as the AD7665 (16 bit/570 kSPS).The two I/Q demodulators can be used independently in other nonbeamforming applications. In that case, a transimpedance amplifier is needed for each of the I and Q outputs, four in total for the dual I/Q demodulator. The dynamic range is 159 dB/Hz at each I and Q output, but the following transimpedance amplifier is an important element in maintaining the overall dynamic range, and attention needs to be paid to optimal component selection and design. The AD8333 is available in a 32-lead LFCSP (5 mm ? 5 mm) package for the industrial temperature range of ?40?C to +85?C.Applications Medical imaging (CW ultrasound beamforming) Phased array systems (radar and adaptive antennas) Communication receivers

AD8337-EVALZ-INV

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8337 is a low noise, single-ended, linear-in-dB, general-purpose variable gain amplifier (VGA) usable at frequencies from dc to 100 MHz; the ?3 dB bandwidth is 280 MHz. Excellent bandwidth uniformity across the entire gain range and low output-referred noise makes the AD8337 ideal for gain trim applications and for driving high speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).Excellent dc characteristics combined with high speed make the AD8337 particularly suited for industrial ultrasound, PET scanners, and video applications. Dual-supply operation enables gain control of negative-going pulses such as generated by photodiodes or photomultiplier tubes. The AD8337 uses the popular and versatile X-AMP? architecture, exclusively from Analog Devices, Inc., with a gain range of 24 dB. The gain control interface provides precise linear-in-dB scaling of 19.7 dB/V, referenced to VCOM.The AD8337 includes an uncommitted operational current-feedback preamplifier (PrA) that operates in inverting or noninverting configurations. Using external resistors, the device can be configured for gains of 6 dB or greater. The AD8337 is characterized by a noninverting PrA gain of 2? using two external 100 ? resistors. The attenuator has a range of 24 dB, and the output amplifier has a fixed gain of 8? (18.06 dB). The lowest nominal gain range is 0 dB to 24 dB and can be shifted up or down by adjusting the preamp gain. Multiple AD8337s can be connected in series for larger gain ranges, and for interstage filtering to suppress noise and distortion, and for nulling offset voltages. The operating temperature range is ?40?C to +85?C, and it is available in an 8-lead, 3 mm ? 3 mm LFCSP.Applications Gain trim PET scanners High performance AGC systems I/Q signal processing Video Industrial and medical ultrasound Radar receivers
