ADL5387-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADL5387 is a broadband quadrature I/Q demodulator that covers an RF/IF input frequency range from 30 MHz to 2 GHz. With a NF = 13.2 dB, IP1dB = 12.7 dBm, and IIP3 = 32 dBm @ 450 MHz, the ADL5387 demodulator offers outstanding dynamic range suitable for the demanding infrastructure direct-conversion requirements. The differential RF/IF inputs provide a well-behaved broadband input impedance of 50 Ω and are best driven from a 1:1 balun for optimum performance.Ultrabroadband operation is achieved with a divide-by-2 method for local oscillator (LO) quadrature generation. Over a wide range of LO levels, excellent demodulation accuracy is achieved with amplitude and phase balances ~0.05 dB and ~0.4°, respectively. The demodulated in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) differential outputs are fully buffered and provide a voltage conversion gain of >4 dB. The buffered baseband outputs are capable of driving a 2 Vp-p differential signal into 200 Ω.The fully balanced design minimizes effects from second-order distortion. The leakage from the LO port to the RF port is 60 dBm.The ADL5387 operates off a single 4.75 V to 5.25 V supply. The supply current is adjustable with an external resistor from the BIAS pin to ground. The ADL5387 is fabricated using the Analog Devices, Inc. advanced silicon-germanium bipolar process and is available in a 24-lead exposed paddle LFCSP.APPLICATIONS QAM/QPSK RF/IF demodulators W-CDMA/CDMA/CDMA2000/GSM Microwave point-to-(multi)point radios Broadband wireless and WiMAX Broadband CATVs

ADL5501-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADL5501 is a mean-responding power detector for use in high frequency receiver and transmitter signal chains from 50 MHz to 6 GHz. It is easy to apply, requiring only a single supply between 2.7 V and 5.5 V and a power supply decoupling capacitor. The input is internally ac-coupled and has a nominal input impedance of 50 Ω. The output is a linear-responding dc voltage with a conversion gain of 6.3 V/V rms at 900 MHz.The ADL5501 is intended for true power measurement of simple and complex waveforms. The device is particularly useful for measuring high crest factor (high peak-to-rms ratio) signals, such as CDMA-, CDMA2000-, W-CDMA-, and QPSK-/QAM-based OFDM waveforms. The on-chip modulation filter provides adequate averaging for most waveforms. The on-chip, 100 Ω series resistance at the output, combined with an external shunt capacitor, creates a low-pass filter response that reduces the residual ripple in the dc output voltage. For more complex waveforms, an external capacitor at the FLTR pin can be used for supplementary signal demodulation. The ADL5501 offers excellent temperature stability across a 30 dB range and near 0 dB measurement error across temperature over the top portion of the dynamic range. In addition to its temperature stability, the ADL5501 offers low process variations that further reduce calibration complexity. The ADL5501 operates from −40°C to +85°C and is available in a small 6-lead SC-70 package. It is fabricated on a proprietary high fT silicon bipolar process.ApplicationsMeasurement of CDMA-, CDMA2000-, W-CDMA-, and QPSK-/ QAM-based OFDM, and other complex modulationwaveforms RF transmitter or receiver power measurement

ADF4154BCPZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADF4154 is a fractional-N frequency synthesizer that implements local oscillators in the up conversion and down conversion sections of wireless receivers and transmitters. It consists of a low noise digital phase frequency detector (PFD), a precision charge pump, and a programmable reference divider. There is a Σ-Δ based fractional interpolator to allow programmable fractional-N division. The INT, FRAC, and MOD registersdefine an overall N divider (N = (INT + (FRAC/MOD))). In addition, the 4-bit reference counter (R counter) allows selectable REFIN frequencies at the PFD input. A complete phase-locked loop (PLL) can be implemented if the synthesizer is used with an external loop filter and a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO).A key feature of the ADF4154 is the fast-lock mode with a builtintimer. The user can program a predetermined count-down time value so that the PLL will remain in wide bandwidth mode, instead of having to control this time externally.Control of all on-chip registers is via a simple 3-wire interface. The device operates with a power supply ranging from 2.7 V to 3.3 V, and can be powered down when not in use.

AD8318-EP-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The AD8318 is a demodulating logarithmic amplifier, capable of accurately converting an RF input signal to a corresponding decibel-scaled output voltage. It employs the progressive compression technique over a cascaded amplifier chain, each stage of which is equipped with a detector cell. The device is used in measurement or controller mode. The AD8318 maintains accurate log conformance for signals of 1 MHz to 6 GHz and provides useful operation to 8 GHz. The input range is typically 60 dB (re: 50 Ω) with error less than ±1 dB. The AD8318 has a 10 ns response time that enables RF burst detection to beyond 45 MHz. The device provides unprecedented logarithmic intercept stability vs. ambient temperature conditions. A 2 mV/°C slope temperature sensor output is also provided for additional system monitoring. A single supply of 5 V is required. Current consumption is typically 68 mA. Power consumption decreases to <1.5 mW when the device is disabled. The AD8318 can be configured to provide a control voltage to a VGA, such as a power amplifier or a measurement output, from Pin VOUT. Because the output can be used for controller applications, wideband noise is minimal. In this mode, the setpoint control voltage is applied to VSET. The feedback loop through an RF amplifier is closed via VOUT, the output of which regulates the amplifier output to a magnitude corresponding to VSET. The AD8318 provides 0 V to 4.9 V output capability at the VOUT pin, suitable for controller applications. As a measurement device, Pin VOUT is externally connected to VSET to produce an output voltage, VOUT, which is a decreasing linear-in-dB function of the RF input signal amplitude. The logarithmic slope is nominally −25 mV/dB but can be adjusted by scaling the feedback voltage from VOUT to the VSET interface. The intercept is 20 dBm (re: 50 Ω, CW input) using the INHI input. These parameters are very stable against supply and temperature variations. The AD8318 is fabricated on a SiGe bipolar IC process and is available in a 4 mm × 4 mm, 16-lead LFCSP for the operating temperature range of –40°C to +85°C.Applications RF transmitter PA setpoint control and level monitoring RSSI measurement in base stations, WLAN, WiMAX, and radars

ADL5324-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADL5324 incorporates a dynamically adjustable biasing circuit that allows for the customization of OIP3 and P1dB performance from 3.3 V to 5 V, without the need for an external bias resistor. This feature gives the designer the ability to tailor driver amplifier performance to the specific needs of the design. This feature also creates the opportunity for dynamic biasing of the driver amplifier where a variable supply is used to allow for full 5 V biasing under large signal conditions, and then reduced supply voltage when signal levels are smaller and lower power consumption is desirable. This scalability reduces the need to evaluate and inventory multiple driver amplifiers for different output power requirements, from 25 dBm to 29 dBm output power levels. The ADL5324 is also rated to operate across the wide temperature range of −40°C to +105°C for reliable performance in designs that experience higher temperatures, such as power amplifiers. The ½ W driver amplifier also covers the wide frequency range of 400 MHz to 4000 MHz, and only requiresa few external components to be tuned to a specific band within that wide range. This high performance broadband RF driver amplifier is well suited for a variety of wired and wireless applications, including cellular infrastructure, ISM band power amplifiers, defense equipment, and instrumentation equipment. A fully populated evaluation board is available. The ADL5324 also delivers excellent ACPR vs. output power and bias voltage. The driver can deliver greater than 17 dBm of output power at 2140 MHz, while achieving an ACPR of −55 dBc at 5 V. If the bias is reduced to 3.3 V, the −55 dBc ACPR output power only minimally reduces to 15 dBm.Applications Wireless infrastructure Automated test equipment ISM/AMR applications

ADL6010-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADL6010 is a versatile, broadband envelope detector covering the microwave spectrum. It provides state-of-the-art accuracy with very low power consumption (8 mW) in a simple, easy to use 6-lead format. The output is a baseband voltage proportional to the instantaneous amplitude of the radio frequency (RF) input signal. It exhibits minimal slope variation of the RF input to envelope output transfer function from 0.5 GHz to 43.5 GHz.The detector cell uses a proprietary eight Schottky diode array followed by a novel linearizer circuit that creates a linear voltmeter with an overall scaling factor (or transfer gain) of nominally ×2.2 relative to the voltage amplitude of the input.Although the ADL6010 is not inherently a power responding device, it remains convenient to specify the input in this way. Thus, the permissible input power, relative to a 50 Ω source input impedance, ranges from −30 dBm to +15 dBm. The corresponding input voltage amplitudes of 11.2 mV to 1.8 V generate quasi-dc outputs from about 25 mV to 4 V above common (COMM).A subtle aspect of the balanced detector topology is that no even-order distortion, caused by nonlinear source loading, occurs at the input. This is an important benefit in applications where a low ratio coupler is used to extract a signal sample and is a significant improvement over traditional diode detectors. The power equivalent of a fluctuating RF input amplitude can be extracted by the addition of an rms-to-dc converter IC. Alternatively, the baseband output can be applied to a suitably fast analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and the rms value (and other signal metrics, such as peak to average ratio) calculated in the digital domain. The output response accuracy is insensitive to variation in the supply voltage, which can range from 4.75 V to 5.25 V. The ultralow power dissipation contributes to its long-term stability. The ADL6010ACPZN is specified for operation from −40°C to +85°C, and the ADL6010SCPZN is specified for operation from −55°C to +125°C. Both are available in a 6-lead, 2 mm × 2 mm LFCSP package.Applications Microwave point to point links Microwave instrumentation Radar-based measurement systems
