AD5232BRUZ50

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5232 device provides a nonvolatile, dual-channel, digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) with 256-position resolution. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a mechanical potentiometer with enhanced resolution, solid state reliability, and superior low temperature coefficient performance. The versatile programming of the AD5232, performed via a microcontroller, allows multiple modes of operation and adjustment. In the direct program mode, a predetermined setting of the RDAC registers (RDAC1 and RDAC2) can be loaded directly from the microcontroller. Another important mode of operation allows the RDACx register to be refreshed with the setting previously stored in the corresponding EEMEM register (EEMEM1 and EEMEM2). When changes are made to the RDACx register to establish a new wiper position, the value of the setting can be saved into the EEMEMx register by executing an EEMEM save operation. After the settings are saved in the EEMEMx register, these values are automatically transferred to the RDACx register to set the wiper position at system power-on. Such operation is enabled by the internal preset strobe. The preset strobe can also be accessed externally. All internal register contents can be read via the serial data output (SDO). This includes the RDAC1 and RDAC2 registers, the corresponding nonvolatile EEMEM1 and EEMEM2 registers, and the 14 spare USER EEMEM registers that are available for constant storage. The basic mode of adjustment is the increment and decrement command instructions that control the wiper position setting register (RDACx). An internal scratch pad RDACx register can be moved up or down one step of the nominal resistance between Terminal A and Terminal B. This step adjustment linearly changes the wiper to Terminal B resistance (RWB) by one position segment of the device’s end-to-end resistance (RAB). For exponential/ logarithmic changes in wiper setting, a left/right shift command instruction adjusts the levels in ±6 dB steps, which can be useful for audio and light alarm applications. The AD5232 is available in a thin, 16-lead TSSOP package. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C. An evaluation board, the EVAL-AD5232-10EBZ, is available.APPLICATIONS Mechanical potentiometer replacement Instrumentation: gain and offset adjustment Programmable voltage-to-current conversion Programmable filters, delays, and time constants Programmable power supply Low resolution DAC replacement Sensor calibration

AD5262BRUZ20

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5260 / AD5262 provide a single- or dual-channel, 256- position, digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) device.1 These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer or variable resistor. Each channel of the AD5260/AD5262 contains a fixed resistor with a wiper contact that taps the fixed resistor value at a point determined by a digital code loaded into the SPI-compatible serial-input register. The resistance between the wiper and either end point of the fixed resistor varies linearly with respect to the digital code transferred into the VR latch. The variable resistor offers a completely programmable value of resistance, between the A terminal and the wiper or the B terminal and the wiper. The fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 20 Ω, 50 Ω, or 200 Ω has a nominal temperature coefficient of 35 ppm/°C. Unlike the majority of the digital potentiometers in the market, these devices can operate up to 15 V or ±5 V provided proper supply voltages are furnished. Each VR has its own VR latch that holds its programmed resistance value. These VR latches are updated from an internal serial-to-parallel shift register, which is loaded from a standard 3-wire serial-input digital interface. The AD5260 contains an 8-bit serial register whereas the AD5262 contains a 9-bit serial register. Each bit is clocked into the register on the positive edge of the CLK pin. The AD5262 address bit determines the corresponding VR latch to be loaded with the last eight bits of the data word during the positive edging of CS strobe. A serial data output pin at the opposite end of the serial register enables simple daisy-chaining in multiple VR applications without additional external decoding logic. An optional reset pin (PR) forces the wiper to the midscale position by loading 0x80 into the VR latch. The AD5260 / AD5262 are available in thin surface-mount 14-lead TSSOP and 16-lead TSSOP packages. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.APPLICATIONS Mechanical potentiometer replacement Instrumentation: gain, offset adjustment Stereo channel audio level control Programmable voltage-to-current conversion Programmable filters, delays, time constants Line impedance matching Low resolution DAC replacement

AD688AQ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD688 is a high precision ±10 V tracking reference. Low tracking error, low initial error and low temperature drift give the AD688 reference absolute ±10 V accuracy performance previously unavailable in monolithic form. The AD688 uses a proprietary ion-implanted buried Zener diode, and laser-wafer-drift- trimming of high stability thin-film resistors to provide outstanding performance at low cost. The AD688 includes the basic reference cell and three additional amplifiers. The amplifiers are laser-trimmed for low offset and low drift and maintain the accuracy of the reference. The amplifiers are configured to allow Kelvin connections to the load and/or boosters for driving long lines or high current loads, delivering the full accuracy of the AD688 where it is required in the application circuit. The low initial error allows the AD688 to be used as a system reference in precision measurement applications requiring 12-bit absolute accuracy. In such systems, the AD688 can provide a known voltage for system calibration and the cost of periodic recalibration can therefore be eliminated. Furthermore, the mechanical instability of a trimming potentiometer and the potential for improper calibration can be eliminated by using the AD688 and calibration software. The AD688 is available in three versions. The AD688AQ and BQ grades are packaged in 16-pin cerdip (0.3') packages and are specified for operation from -40°C to +85°C. The AD688SQ grade is specified for operation from -55°C to +125°C.PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS Precision Tracking. The AD688 offers precision tracking ±10 V Kelvin output connections with no external components. Tracking error is less than 1.5 mV and fine-trim is available for applications requiring exact symmetry between the +10 V and −10 V outputs.  Accuracy. The AD688 offers 12-bit absolute accuracy without any user adjustments. Optional fine-trim connections are provided for applications requiring higher precision. The fine-trimming does not alter the operating conditions of the Zener or the buffer amplifiers and thus does not increase the temperature drift.  Low output noise. Output noise of the AD688 is low— typically 6 μVp-p. A pin is provided for broadband noise filtering using an external capacitor.

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD7680 is a 16-bit, fast, low power, successive approximation ADC. The part operates from a single 2.5 V to 5.5 V power supply and features throughput rates up to 100 kSPS. The part contains a low noise, wide bandwidth track-and-hold amplifier that can handle input frequencies in excess of 7 MHz.The conversion process and data acquisition are controlled using CS and the serial clock, allowing the devices to interface with microprocessors or DSPs. The input signal is sampled on the falling edge of CS and the conversion is also initiated at this point. There are no pipelined delays associated with the part. The AD7860 uses advanced design techniques to achieve very low-power dissipation at fast throughput rates. The reference for the part is taken internally from VDD. This allows the widest dynamic input range to the ADC. Thus the analog input range for the part is 0 to VDD. The conversion rate is determined by the SCLK frequency.PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS First 16-bit ADC in a SOT-23 package. High throughput with low power consumption. Flexible power/serial clock speed management. The conversion rate is determined by the serial clock, allowing the conversion time to be reduced through the serial clock speed increase. This allows the average power consumption to be reduced when a power-down mode is used while not converting. The part also features a shutdown mode to maximize power efficiency at lower throughput rates. Power consumption is 0.5 μA max when in shutdown. Reference derived from the power supply. No pipeline delays.APPLICATIONS Process control Battery-powered systems: Personal digital assistants Medical instruments Mobile communications Instrumentation and control systems Remote data acquisition systems High speed modems Optical sensors

The AD7683 is a 16-bit, charge redistribution, successive approximation, PulSAR® analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that operates from a single power supply, VDD, between 2.7 V and 5.5 V. It contains a low power, high speed, 16-bit sampling ADC with no missing codes (B grade), an internal conversion clock, and a serial, SPI-compatible interface port. The part also contains a low noise, wide bandwidth, short aperture delay, track-and-hold circuit. On the CS falling edge, it samples an analog input, +IN, between 0 V to REF with respect to a ground sense, –IN. The reference voltage, REF, is applied externally and can be set up to the supply voltage. Its power scales linearly with throughput. The AD7683 is housed in an 8-lead MSOP or an 8-lead QFN (LFCSP) package, with an operating temperature specified from −40°C to +85°C.APPLICATIONS Battery-powered equipment Data acquisition Instrumentation Medical instruments Process control
